  1. They also have two four stars for this class so I doubt he wants to go into a log jam like that. If he does then there's really nothing you can do about it, he just had his heart set on going to Mizzou.
  2. There's a headline on the rivals site for Tennessee and it says "Fulton is all Vol" so it looks like if we want another HS OL it's going to have to be Simek.
  3. I agree with EZ, what's the problem saying we expect someone to start their third year on campus? I don't think a lot of people expected Green to start right away rather more so saying that he couldn't have possibly been worse than Lee. Nobody is trying to make him sound like he's going to start from day one or even during his second year. I would much rather have Owa, Cooper and Fulton in this class than take a qb.
  4. If this does turn out to be fact, this is great news IMO. Since we don't have a huge recruiting base these are the exact types of kids that we have to get to walk on. I really think he's going to eventually turn into a contributor for us on the defensive side. I was never ripping Marsh or his abilities, my point was that we shouldn't have to compete with Ohio and South Dakota for schollie recruits we should be competing with them for walk on recruits and it looks like we won this one.
  5. I guess the only one I can think of in the NFL is Haynsworth and I believe he's 6'6 and Baker is 6'6 and Crick is 6'6 as well I think. Carriker is also a DT and he's 6'6 as well.
  6. I will say that since we are going to take Jake this is where I would like him most. If he can put on about 40-50 lbs in a couple years and become a huge run stuffer in the middle this schollie would be worth it IMO.
  7. It just doesn't seem like Cotton understands angles as well as some other OL coaches. I just keep looking at KSU's rushing game this season and in one season with half the athletes we have, aside from Thomas, they were twice as good as us. I don't care if we were banged up on the OL the run blocking was flat out terrible. It really wasn't even all that good last year with the guys we had on the line. I think Cotton does a good job at getting the guys to play physical and have a tough mind but that only goes so far. I made a post last year about Cotton just trying to get the guys to be tougher first then he would go more toward a teacher instead of a motivator and it doesn't look like that's happened so far. I think Bama showed that to win NC's you have to be able to run when teams know you're going to run and they have 8-9 guys in the box. I also think to do that you have to have two things: unique/better angles blocking wise and a back who can read the whole and break one tackle. This last season we rarely had one happen.
  8. This to me is the PERFECT canidate for a walk on spot. Athletic, home grown, hard working multi sport star. It seems like this is the guy we have been offering instead of getting them to walk on and, to me, to get back to the dominate team we are all used to these are the kids that we HAVE to get to walk on to get our advantage back.
  9. I thought I heard he likes herb.
  10. It looks like Jason has decided to walk on the NU. I don't know a lot about him but he is rated as a four star prospect by 12 viewers on rivals. I know that doesn't say a ton but it can only be a good thing. I think these last two years have proven how valuable kicking is to a team so hopefully he can carry on the tradition NU has set for kickers.
  11. He also said that since he played guard at the AA game they ranked him as a guard and not very many guards are that highly ranked. I think Hopkins from UT is the highest ranked guard in the country and he came in at like 90 or something in the latest rankings.
  12. I think Cave made a good point about rating "want to" however, I read an article by rivals that said that is one main reason that Seastrunk was dropped in the rankings bc he just didn't seem to care, not showing up for meetings not taking practice seriously etc. So like mentioned in another post, with the amount of info that is among us now I think this recruiting is only going to become closer to a draft type research on recruits. I do also think that as a whole when it comes to five and highly ranked four star prospects rivals gets it right most of the time. Just looking at Floridas commits over the last few years you can really see the difference makers on their team and that they were in fact highly ranked. Haden (6.0 four star), Dunlap (five star), Pouncey Twins (5.8 four star), Major Wright (6.0 four star), Janoris Jenkins (6.0 four star). There are many more that they have gotten right when it comes to the impact type players. I do think it gets harder when you get to that line where a three star meets a four star. IMO 5.7 three stars are a lot of times turning out just as good as most four stars, and a 5.7 three star is exactly what Green was along with PJ Smith, Dennard, Fisher, Cotton, Meredith, Josh Williams, Ash, Randle and Sirles.
  13. USC also has Woods who is a five star as well so if they get ambles that would be pretty special to have.
  14. I found it encouraging that crabtree also said that based off Owa's comments at the AA game that NU is in a very good position for him. He said if it was just football and I had to decide at this moment I'd go to NU. I think once Bo gets in front of his mom and explains to her what he needs to explain that we could very well land him. He also said that he feels we will land Carnes as well to possibly close out the class but the magic number is 21 for us.
  15. Crabtree said on 1620 that he pretty much got manhandled on one on one drills and didn't seem as fast or have as good of feet as they thought he did. He did say that he'll be a very highly rated player still and he'll be just outside of the top 100.
  16. Ok let me say that I would not be "pissed" at just the Marsh offer rather the collection of Evans, Cotton and then Marsh....then offer Michell a greyshirt. I don't care if he is younger than the others in his grade if he is better than others in the class then let him come in and compete. Again, I'm not saying I'm against in state guys just that I think there are better players out there to get, like Simek for example in this class. I'm not saying I know more than the coaches and never hinted at that, just saying based on the film I have seen of Evans in particular for this class and the amount of attention other recruits have gotten I see no reason why NU a pretty damn big name would be the only school to offer these kids. We should not be competing with South Dakota State and Ohio for schollie recruits we should be competing with them for our walk ons.
  17. I for one would be pissed if we offered Bronson. Even if we don't get cooper that schollie can go to Simek. I really, truly have nothing against home grown NE boys but we can't just offer them bc they are from NE and we don't want them to go elsewhere. I either think that we can take that schollie that might be offered to Marsh and either get a better player this year or save that schollie and get a better player next year. Again I'm not saying Marsh isn't a solid project bc I think he is, I just think we could get someone better either this year or next.
  18. I swear if he decides to go somewhere else bc we offered him a greyshirt before cotton or evans I will freak out. Hopefully if he says he doesn't want to greyshirt they will just take him in this class.
  19. I thought there was a rule you couldn't sign more than 25 in any class regardless of how many schollies you have open?
  20. Getting guys like this at the end of the recruiting class is what makes teams take a leap IMO. Just look at the guys that we missed out on at the end of the class during the callahan era. Mouton, Ross, Lewis, Palmer and many many more. Bo has done an excellent job at landing late gets in Burkhead, Ankrah and Compton in just two years. Without those guys I don't think our future would be as bright.
  21. Ya I wouldn't have minded another corner in this class. Rogers and Leverson leaving the team really hurt the depth for their class.
  22. I think he said that about Riley at OSU. Maybe he said it about both.
  23. well considering that usc loses bradford, johnson, mcknight and gable this year I don't think it will influence him that much. Green is so talented he'll play wherever he goes.
  24. I believe OU offered recently so I really think he'll end up there.
