  1. I've said since the beginning that I think he will eventually end up at UT. When they want a recruit they usually don't miss and 99.9% of the time they want an in state guy they get him.
  2. So after watching the south dakota state game I have a few thoughts/worries. 1) Right after the washington game there were player quotes that said they were sick of not being able to run right at the washington defense and the players went to the coaches and said something like just run the damn ball right at them! This entire week after the game Watson was in interviews saying that he saw something in the defense that he thought he thought he could expose. He's been saying that it's been his vision over the past few years that this was the offense he was migrating to. He has been taking every last bit of the credit. I'm just comparing it to Bo when he says when its bad it his fault and when its good it's the players. My worry is that the players are getting sick of him taking all of the credit. Could it be possible that the players are reading or hearing what wats is saying and they are going umm what the hell? We are the ones that told him to do that. The offense was just missing something. They weren't as explosive, didn't block as well, and didn't even seem to want to play the game. A couple other things that crossed my mind were that they did a little too much partying the night before and had a little bit of a hangover. Or the practice week was spent grinding on each other and their legs weren't underneath them. I'm praying that it's one of the last two.
  3. I really hated his comments about why he fumbled out of the wildcat. He said something like "I hit the ball on Rex's leg and it got stuck and couldn't get it out...NOT MUCH I CAN DO ABOUT THAT". Not much you can do? What the hell does that mean? You can hold on to the ball, you can take accountability for your freakin mistake. I don't think Paul should sit by any means. He's one of our biggest threats at the wide receiver position. But he really needs to step up and realize it was his fault and take responsibility for it.
  4. I think we are going to see the same thing as far as roy getting his touches in the three powder puff non conference games. I would bet that Roy gets at least 15 carries against Washington. The two things that I really like about Rex and Roy not getting a ton of carries the first two games are: 1) They are completely fresh and as of right now not dinged up at all 2) The fact that T-Mart has been keeping the ball and has proven that he can take it the distance if given a crease is only going to open the running lanes for the backs. You don't think that Washington is going to see that Martinez has been keeping the ball instead of giving it? You don't think that our offensive coaches aren't going to self scout and give it to the backs a little more? Not to say that Martinez won't get his touches, just that I think we'll see some big runs from the backs, Roy in particular.
  5. Where are Curenski and Andrew Green at? I thought Andrew was supposed to be a major contributor this year.
  6. This completely stupid talk of why is pelini so mad all the time or he needs to respect the media needs to stop. My God, if anyone got asked the same question three times in a row but in a different way you would be a little annoyed too. Pelini is a fiery guy and we all knew that when he first came here and we've all known that for the last three years and every single freakin year we go through this. He has a way he likes to do things and sticks to those. He does whats best for his team and players and we need to accept that. Would you rather have Pelini talk to the media all nice and perky every single day and win 5 games or would you rather have him stick to what he thinks and win at least 9 games a year? Not to say that if he talks to the media every day we'll lose but he has a vision of how he wants his team to be and he sticks to it. His attitude has rubbed off on the team perfectly and I for one love the fact that our players have a chip on their shoulder and play with an attitude. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I don't expect you to name drop or anything, but how do you know that they haven't contact him since May? What's the relationship there? I by all means don't think that NU isn't probably the favorite at this point and has been the favorite since the beginning. With that said Texas usually doesn't lose very many players that they want with the exception to OU. I just fear that he'll eventually want to stay close to home.
  8. Like I said a long time ago..unfortunately I feel like Green will be a Longhorn.
  9. Ya thats the same thing that I was going to say about blocking. I will be completely sick if the same thing that happened with Bell happens w/ Quincy. He's a hell of a talent and they need to get the ball in his hands one way or the other. If you have to give him a package of 40 plays so he can memorize those then do it. From his build and what I saw on film he reminds me of a young Michael Crabtree. Obviously he has a long way to go to get to that level but at this stage there are similarities to me.
  10. corner is actually one of the positions that i feel like could be depleted (possibly a little over the top) in a few years unless we recruit well in the next couple of years. Prince is a senior along with Hagg and Gomes. Dennard will be a senior next year and could possibly leave after this year. If that happens who do we have? Middleton (soph), Mitchell, Evans, Green and who else? I might be missing someone but Blue is pretty much done with his second torn ACL. At this point nobody out of that group has done anything. If history has proven anything Sanders will have his unit ready but if one of those guys leaves or gets injured that leaves 3 corners on schollie. One more doesn't develop properly and we are down to 2. I'm not saying we aren't sitting in a good position or the position is in trouble, just that if we don't land a couple big fish in the next couple of classes we could possibly be in trouble going forward.
  11. he had to have been going by scout only because burkhead was a 4* RB along along with Wilson and Heard according to Rivals. Castille was rated as the #2 FB so maybe that's why he didn't count him. Also he said Burkhead was a 3* QB and that was his rating on scout. Mendoza was also only rated as a 4* on scout as he indicated in the article.
  12. Apparently made his final 7 along with Florida, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Pitt, and Rutgers. There's an article on him on huskersillustrated but I'm not sure what it all says. Sounds like there might be a visit to NU in his future.
  13. There are a ton of 18 year old kids that walk into fall camp every year and are better than a lot of the guys in front of them. I don't think anyone would say we are in trouble if Green came in and split time with the ones, same for T. Moore. I personally think this guy's a beast and wanted him almost as bad as anyone else in last years class.
  14. I don't know if he was 220 last year but I think he was right around that weight during spring ball
  15. EZ..what did you mean Quincy is just a different type of receiver than any of our current ones? Just looking at body type Quincy is listed at 6'2 205. Thats pretty comparable to Niles (6'1, 220), Kinnie (6'3, 225), Cooper (6'2, 195). In my eyes, just from watching his film from high school he reminds me a lot of Niles and can even see comparisons to Kinnie. Seems to have a pretty large frame and I can see him being up to 220 lbs by next season.
  16. If only he had the blocking skills of a lineman he could have played more for NU.
  17. That would be outstanding if Enunwa stepped up and got some playing time already. He fits right into the same body mold as Kinnie and Paul and would give us another physical presence on the outside. AS for Rome, that doesn't surprise me at all. He was on of the main people I wanted to get last year. I think he'll continue to give us an intense, physical presence for years to come.
  18. Cal already has one committed as well. Obviously Green isn't afraid of competition but it just seems like everything is set up for him at NU. He will be the only RB we take this class more than likely, his brother is only a frosh on the team so he'll have plenty of time to play with him, our coaches have built up a great relationship with him and our starting RB graduates the year he'll be on campus. It's really hard not to get my hopes up but I have been burned a million times in the past by thinking this same way.
  19. Wow! Reminds me of Everson Griffin from a few years ago. I think the odds of us getting him are less than 1% but he's still a hell of a looking prospect.
  20. Is there anything new on Green that we don't already know? I see on Tunnel Talk they said that they spoke w/ someone very close to the situation.
  21. He was actually pretty highly rated coming out of high school. He was a 5.7 three star, the number 25 tight end in the class (16th rated TE was a 4 star) and he was the 2nd ranked recruit in Iowa. I'm not saying that he was an outstanding get but he is probably by far the highest rated TE we've had in a very, very long time.
  22. To me if he is here for spring ball it's really not that big of a deal. He would have been a nice addition for some speed on the field, but if Helu, Burkhead and Tray stay healthy I doubt he would have seen the field a ton anyway. Now with Helu graduating he'll be a huge addition for the spring and fall of 2011.
  23. I am actually a pretty big fan of Carnes. I think he shows pretty good speed and nice touch. Obviously only time will tell, but what I have seen out of Carnes I'm confident that he will take over the starting job after Green, if not before.
  24. Loyyd Carr always recruited Texas fairly decent as well...nothing major but he would pluck a couple out of there every year or so. Edit: Nope I guess they didn't recruit texas well at all...they only got three from 02-07..seems like they got more though.
  25. So we really are taking only one LB? What if that dude from Fort Scott wants to commit after Sarao does?
