  1. OK. thanks for clarrifying. Here's the thing though...i'm really glad we have considerate, knowledgeable, nice, classy, hard-working, classy, good, fun, classy fans. i'm one of them. Not the Victory but the Action... i truly subscribe to this. but one thing that makes us 'classy' fans is that knowing no matter the outcome, our boys have come to fight. we lost to OU and miami etc...for years. and i personally dealt with it because i thought we at least had a chance and that we would put up a fight. now, our team is giving up points, yards, passion...you name it, we've given it up. i know Coz is hurting for the kids and stuff but some of the pain would go away if he would, at least for me. if i have a shard of glass in my foot because my shoe didn't protect me better; no matter how much i liked those shoes, i would take them off--pull out the glass--and get rid of the shoes!!
  2. i think he spends too much time watching film and drawing plays instead of seeing talent on the field and making things work for US!! we have big, talented, fast, strong, agile playmakers too. but instead of doing what OU did to us in last year's B12 CG (ten yd outs on 37 consecutive plays), he sits Castille, Holt, and Purify on the bench using the 'doesn't understand the playbook' excuse. well, Billy C, if KU can run a quick slant that we can't cover--why can't WE run a quick slant that THEY can't cover? Oh, right...there's only one Kevin Cosgrove in the Big12.
  3. why did you highlight my post??? as a missouri fan, you've never had a 'football self-esteem'...now that ours is being kicked around by the likes of KU and Mizzou and anyone else who we play i can be as pissed as i want!! i REALLY don't condone the actions against a man's family or his stuff. hell, i have a house and two kids, so i understand that should be off limits. but it doesn't mean i don't have 'class' because a coach won't get fired or resign when he obviously isn't doing the job he was hired to do. seeing that pic of Coz walking off the field, man, i really feel his pain...because my team got waxed, not because i think he's a good coach going through a tough time. these guys have led us astray and should have had the decency to get out of here before it got too ugly. i'm not personally attacking him or wish any ill will on his family, at ALL. i'm just saying he should have been let go a long time ago and not make us suffer through this collapse.
  4. callahan should have forced Coz to resign.
  5. i agree really, i do. especially the family and property...that really is bullsh#t. but to get respect you must give it or earn it first...the DCoordinator at Texas Tech resigned earlier this year and basically said that he owes it to the 1. players 2. university 3. fans 4. and fellow coaches that they deserve a shot to at least be a little f'ing competitive. not only are we not a little competitive we lay down flat. Coz or Callahan surely would have earned our respect if they would have made a move to change...they did not, and that leaves thousands of Husker fans feeling like they don't care about what happens after they're gone or about the players who will still be here or the school which has such a proud tradition or even each other when they can't cut the chord that tethers them together...so instead, it will keep them bound as the ship goes down.
  6. i truly feel for KC and a little bit for Callahan too. my dad was a coach for over 25 years and had some pretty bad times (although not THIS bad)....i do not wish ill will towards anyone and especially towards ones' kids, that's just plain wrong if their kids are dragged into it. but it makes me not feel one bit different about the way these two have created this dark cloud around OUR program. seriously, they created a business-like atmosphere and should treat it now, as such...after the 3 or 4th game of terrible play, Callahan should have had Coz resign or Coz should have done something before it came to this...seriously, this is not PERSONAL but it is BUSINESS (of their own creating). these two have beat their heads against a wall all year (for 2 years actually) and could have avoided this fate. walking past Osborne whether is was a 'snub' or not is plain bullsh#t. If they would have slowed down and allowed Tom to walk with them, it could have been supportive and humble. instead it looked prideful and pissed. time for them to go. the way Osborne kind of took a few steps in Callahan's direction after he sped past, made it obvious that he was trying to engage. Tom probably would have put his arm around him and walked in with Bill to show support and that the world isn't ending. instead Bill looked like a kid taking his ball and going home.

    1+1=2

5 straight losses 76 points against KU this is our nightmare--how long til the psyche of the players on this team is healed? the freshman now will remember this when they are 5th year seniors. is it motivating or crushing? will they ever recover? or will it take years for this kind of embarrassing cataclysmic era to wear off?
  8. earlier this year, i was placing a majority of blame on the players, cuz watching the games, i saw a BUNCH of plays not being made...the coaches had players in decent position they were not making simple blocks, cuts, tackles, stripping balls, etc... then after about 3 straight lousy performances you could tell it was lack of fundamentals!! yeah, the players need to tackle, but if they're not being taught how then it's not their fault. when i heard they don't practice in full pads?!? come on!! Callahan has a pro scheme and is worried about minisucle, but when it comes to teaching players the basic' s it is OBVIOUS he has left that part out. now as far as motivation...yeah, that falls on the players a bunch. but they are like whipped puppies now with no confidence. it's not lack of talent (players!) it's the lack of fundamentals (coaching!)
  9. no one f'd with us in Lawerence on 05...my dad and his 3 sons, average of us 4: 6'2" 210lbs of Scarlet and Cream wearing badass. in fact when other people were getting heckled on the way out, when we got close they shut their mouths. it will all come back around, trust me...we will be dominating these pansies in a couple years.
  10. he has been going through the motions for the last 2.5 years...every one of his press conferences have been the exact same...just like the players on the field. (but i seriously, seriously do not blame THEM, they have a terrible leader)
  11. to me it's the entire PHILOSOPHY that Callahan uses. it's all professional and stuffy it's finesse and soft it's closed off and unemotional it's not Nebraska based and Husker do or die and based on some interviews he's given--it's slightly delusional he has rubbed us all pretty raw and I just think we can't say, "welllll, MAYBE next year will be better."
  12. I am totally with you on this one rob, except I really believe it's too late...if he would have had the stones to fire Coz after Ball State or Mizz I would have thought, 'okay, he sees a problem and is trying to fix it' but no, he continued to do the same shiz over and over and over and over and over and over again... also, you can tell he doesn't really like our fan base too much saying things like it's too technical and i'm doing an excellent job and so forth...I just really believe, even if we win out, it is just time for a change.
  13. what pisses me off is they have 'packages' that depend on about 7 things that go on during the game: 1. down and distance 2. score 3. side of the field 4. which QT it is 5. running or passing down 6. what's on Callahan's script 7. if the sky is blue that day what about just giving the ball to a great athelete and let him make something happen? like the kid from LSU who runs about a 4.11 40yd dash? they just snap the ball and hand it off in open space or just flick it out to him. or like OU, just run a 10 yard out and let the player make a play. i know, i know...the coaches know how to use their players and make game time decisions and see them in practice everyday; but if players are thinking too hard or things are too complicated and only certain times can a players' "package" be used then it's not about just playin some damn football, it's way too much about X's and O's.
  14. well, i can't say i really blame them too much. but remember in the spring when we were all giddy cuz Gabbert said, "I won't pull a Josh Freeman."? he's only doing what's natural, but if he isn't dedicated to the program, and only wants to be here cuz he thought Camp Callahan was a 3 year stop on his way to the pros, then i'd rather have Witt or Lee or Ganz who've made a true commitment to Nebraska and the whole school, not just to a particular coach. also, i wonder what the other guys he'd been texting and calling and helping convince to come here think? all that time to build those relationships and 'recruit' for his future team, now all seems pretty selfish. i know he's 18 and has to do what's right for him and blah, blah...but maybe he should call Osborne and get some of the REAL Husker feeling back in his blood.
  15. this is ridiculous!!! and it's certainly NOT reaching!! every coach prepares for the week they're playing, sure...but they have assistants, film prep guys, scouts, administrators... even @ my little DII school, we had scouting reports for teams drawn up at least 3-4 days early-the week before!. we didn't even know the names of the players cuz it's all small school stuff, but we knew who the stars of our f'ing confence were.... i'm really sorry, but Callahan shoulda been informed by someone, on of his GA's or something that an all B12 WR was already out for 3 f'ing weeks. He is so consumed by his damn X's and O's he doesn't pay attention the the Jimmy's and Joe's. period
  16. hopefully they'll air the whole game this time instead of waiting till the 2nd q.
  17. really? okay that sheds some light on it. maybe #2 needs to happen NOW then. maybe make a public statement stated such a way that gives an idea where the coaching staffs status is.
  18. I read that Osborne met with the DE Kunili or whatever and then he chose Nebraska. So, 2 things: 1. Why doesn't Osborne call every single important player (most highly regarded at LEAST) and tell them his thoughts on coaching and staying committed to the Cornhuskers? or maybe he is. I think this would be a tremendous help to keep a good portion of the class together 2. Does losing commits from kids make it more pressing to have Osborne do something sooner (say, next week, hopefully?) so that there is less uncertainty. If he did #1. then #2. would be a lot less important i think. On a side note; Callahan went on at some length about how great next year's class WAS shaping up to be and referred to it several times as a #7 class. And yet, here's Osborne saying not to put too much stock in the rankings of players and classes. sounds like yet another friggin dis-connect between Callahan's philosophy and the traditional way the Huskers got things done for so long. Do you guys feel Osborne isn't really truly worried about keeping a '#7' class together because there is going to be some serious house cleaning with the new coach anyway? By that I mean, even some kids here that have been playing and stuff might be shown the door based on attitude and work ethic? I think who stays committed till signing day and wants to come to play for Nebraska no matter who's the coach is more important than people who decommit or transfer cuz Callahans' not here anymore.
  19. he actually said "it's too technical for you?" this is the PROOF he never accepted Nebraskans passion for football and understanding of the game and the absolute culture our State has for the game. If he called OU a bunch of f'n Hillbillies, after this "technical" comment, what do you think he thinks of us??
  20. screw that!! he threw for on 3rd and 2 TWICE in the MIZZOU game too!! He is so egotistical that he can't learn from his own bad mistakes and play calling. who knows how many times he has thrown it on 3rd and 4th and short over the last 4 years and didn't get it? i bet we would be astounded how many times. Even if he blames the players and says (as he always does) "we didn't execute" well guess what 'genius' let the kids go out there and kick some ass!! and BTW execution comes from practice, practice, practice...but wait!! what's that? you don't even meet as a team on Monday's? and the 3 full practices you have, you don't run full pads? and never go ones v ones? hhmmmm...I just can't see why the players wouldn't be able to 'execute' your stupid short yardage "package"!!!!!!
  21. At the beginning of the year I remember saying I think we would have the potential to win the overall B12 title, and for sure get the B12 North. I thought we would beat Texas or USC but not both. I thought Keller would have more opportunities (man Callahan's offense is just stifiling). I thought Lucky would prove to be average at best. I thought we'd finish in the top 15-17 and see a lot of growth from our youth during games we should win easily. I thought for sure with the senior depth at LB and DB our defense would be MUCH better than last year even though our front 4 were mostly untested. Most of all I felt like I wanted to see us win the games we should and not have any 2nd half meltdowns like last year. Basically beat the 2nd and 3rd tier teams more easily and be super competitive against top 10. I feel most ambushed by Cosgrove. Man that can flat out NOT coach. Secondly, after half way through year 4 of Callahan i realize that his system is way way too complicated and is full of needless over calculating. His X's and O's game plan may rival Eisenhower's, but he cannot motivate a fly to sh#t. Sometimes you have to man up and just flat out kick people's asses. He would rather out-scheme them. which, in college doesn't work hardly. I feel really really bad for the players and I feel really let down and disappointed that Cally refuses to make changes. Both in the offices (firing , hiring, gameplan) and on and during the game (play calling, motivating). I thought we'd go 11-3 at best and 9-5 at worst.
  22. I have been keeping the Guiness family well fed lately. Something about fall and a nice stout!! However, living in Colorado as I do now, the Bull and Bush Pub has a delicious Nut Brown Ale Seasonal. Made on site and enjoyed next to the fireplace. Here's to drinking one for fun instead of to drown in!!
  23. yes he does!! we got beat worse by USC than you did!!
  24. thank you. that's what i think too. so to calm the fire burning inside the deepest recesses of my soul i will begin the countdown until it's over....32 days (assuming no bowl and a day or two after Colorado)
  25. guess what we're talking about?
