  3. today. seriously. all the mis-steps up to this point for me has been "rebuilding". not anymore. today is the day i think the players have officially quit on BC. time for a change time to change time to change time to change.
  4. I'm not embarassed to be from Nebraska. I'm not embarassed to be a fan of the Cornhuskers. I'm not embarassed for the kids who are playing this year. I won't even be embarassed if we lose the rest of our games. But!! I am embarassed because, once again I have to say my dad was right. the next time I see him, I will have to say, "Damn, Dad. You were so right about Pedersen and his hiring of Callahan. And the way they screwed over HuskerNation." I don't know if Solich would be doing real well today, obviously we never will. But even if he had gotten fired later or they would have hired other Nebraska people, we could be doing it our way. I asked my dad why he thought Callahan wasn't a good hire and why he hated Pud so much. After all Pud is from Neb, right? And my dad said Pud is an egotistical, stubborn, know-it-all. No one took the job at first because everyone has too much respect for Solich and the way it went down, which in turn led to NO respect for Pud and why he fired Frankie. Coaching circles are REALLY tight knit. They look out for each other and stand up for each other. No one took the job here cuz no one wanted to coach for Pud, my dad told me. I said bullcrap, everything will be just fine. Callahan will learn what this is all about. My dad was still friends with the secretary who worked for Osborne and Solich every single day they were at memorial stadium. He knew Callahan wouldn't work when, she told my dad the day he got there he took down a giant picture over his desk of the state of Nebraska with a Big N in the middle that had been there since the late 60's (i even remember it as a kid). In its place was a picture of himself (Bill) wearing Raiders gear on the sidelines of the NFL during the Super Bowl. Two weeks later he fired the secretary and anyone else working in the office who was from Oz and Solich. My dad would give me an update of about a dozen stories exactly like this one over the following months from people he knew inside the program. I should have recognized. I said who cares? he wants his own people in there. let him go for changes and get the program into the 21st century...etc, etc...But damn it, i was wrong!! Those people, that picture, the offices, the trophies--they ARE Nebraska! They are who the program is. My dad is a fomer coach and player and was involved in the University for almost 12 years of his life. He has never been invited or informed of any functions or speaking engagements or camps or ANYTHING since Bill has got there. But I turned a blind eye. I said the wins will speak for themselves. Pretty quiet, huh? Geez, I gotta look @ my dad and brothers and say it...I was wrong and we need Ron Brown back here. Turner Gill. Monte Kiffin. Scott Downing. Osborne for AD. I feel bad for all of us cuz we were straight up lied to and dumped on. And now we can't even get real answers to the problems or a fair assesment from the AD or HC. ENOUGH!! I am not embarassed to be a Huskerfan. I am just ready for this nightmare to be over.

  8. TIME FOR CALLAHAN TO f'ing HAVE THE DECENCY FOR ALL NEBRASKANS FAR AND WIDE TO ADMIT IT IS NOT A GOOD FIT AND f'ing RESIGN. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. IT IS NOW EMBARASSING. i have been a supporter since 2 days after he was hired and realized a new Regime was here and the old way was over, but this is too much. too much. time to go: YAY.

  12. so, i was walking down the street today and a piano fell on my head... actually, i got home from the gym just in time to see Okie state score to go up 38-0. i told my bro today that if Callahan wants to protect HIS job, he should fire coz now. but i truly believe for the sake of everyone who loves Nebraska, not just the team, but the state; that Callaha should have the decency to resign. i have really, really supported him and thought we would seriously turn a corner this year...it is obvious he just doesn't have it. time to go coach, time to go. TIME TO F.UCKING GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. that's about how he looked after his 3rd NC in 4 years.
  14. all coz and no fire make i am i a dull boy. absolute insanity: contuining the same action again and again expecting a different result. (even though it didn't work againt TT either)
  15. like i posted a few weeks ago: if this ship is sinking rats will start jumping. rats are in-fighting, snapping at media, players fighting, finger pointing, etc...sounds like rats may be jumping ship.
  16. i think we could be arrested in 48 countries if we lead this guy to another's board. kind of like letting a drunk driver off the hook, and as the Drunk driver pulls away from the curb, runs somebody over. cop shoulda just arrested him.
  17. we don't run up to the line and snap the ball and just straight forward block. evey run play we have is like this: a couple shifts. snap the ball on 2 or 3 after the D gets a chance to settle in and make adjustments. after the snap the left tackle drop steps and shoulder turns left to 'wall off' the D-tackle. the left guard slide steps to his gap and pushes the D-lineman. the center chip blocks with the left guard and gets upfield to block the LB. the right guard cutblocks the Nose tackle and creates a hole. the right tackle zone reads the D-end, if the D-end doesn't crash he leaves him and goes to the second level to get the OLB. by this time Lucky has recieved the handoff and has cut between the center and right guard where there appears to be a hole. but wait! while the right tackle didn't misread the D-end, he didn't get to the second level fast enough and the OLB crashes the hole and causes Lucky to break the run a little more to the outside than he wanted. which takes him directly to the waiting D-end who is by now recovering from the misdirection by the Right Tackle. Lucky is unable to break the tackle and is stopped for a 3 yard gain. if you actually took the time to read this whole thing, then you know how i feel watching the Nebraska running game: lots of movement, some creases, but not quite determined enough, and surely not hitting it fast enough. i remember being on the practice field when i was 11 years old during the practice week leading up to the 1987 Sugar Bowl vs LSU. Taylor would call the play in the huddle and say "on first sound, first sound!" the offense would sprint up to the ball, get set and and Taylor would say, "SET!" and the ball was snapped and it was like unleashing a fury. so much forward movement and push, the D simply was not ready for it. later that nite i asked my dad why they always called it on first sound and he said, "we want to set a pace for the game and show them we mean business. just try to stop it. we don't want them to get settled in. we know what we're running, they know what we're running. A quick count blows them off the ball, straight forward blocking demoralizing the defense."
  18. i think it's like Matt Davison said during his in-game interview: "There are questions that NEED to be answered this week." Pedersen didn't take callers on the show. I can see why he wouldn't want to take lunatic calls, but he owes an explanation to fans directly.
  19. coming from a family whose father coached very successfully in at the college level for over 25 years, i can say with some levelheadness that indeed, it is important to have some kind of option game. this is true for the high school and college games because the players aren't as conditioned, disciplined, or trustworthy 100% of the time. when running a play that has different 'options', all it takes is ONE breakdown by one defender to get a good gain. then later, to keep them guessing, to keep them off balance. an 'option' can be run out of the gun (which is like WVU), out of a multiple set (like Florida), or out of the I (like old Nebraska U). the way we ran it in the 80's was straight triple option and clearly couldn't be run today. a quick trap by the FB or pull it and attack the D-ends and wait to pitch or keep would, nowadays, get the QB hurt or would not gain much yardage because safeties and OLB are sooo much faster and have much better range today. in the 90's the triple option morphed into belly options, counter options, and read options. couple that with great power running (i.e. with a fullback lead on almost all plays), and good effective play-action passing and it is possible with the right players to be fully effective today. yes, a more capable thrower and a more agile running type quarterback are needed, along with countless hours of repetition and chemistry. i personally think these hybrid type offenses run by WVU and Florida, where the QB is a runner, passer, and distributor is MUCH more effective at the COLLEGE level where great talent is great talent, but there will always be a weak link in the D. having a few option plays keeps the D honest and makes them prepare in pratctice for a long time to just defend a few basic plays. in today's college football world you have to be able to spread the field and open lanes against the defense. but to keep them in check it is important to attack with plays that force them to defend and be responsible. and that is what the option does.
  20. the difference was, we had in our 2nd and 3rd teams and were just running ISO's. like i said, if they wanted to score again, just go for it. i truly don't have a problem with that. but to have in your starters the whole game and then FAKE a field goal, that's rubbing it in the face of the players who are young men and beaten already. just going for it and running a play, that's challenging the coaches to put players in to stop it. that's okay.
  21. thanks for making me laugh. i really needed it. it's not the end of the world when retards are happy to swim laps.
  22. i was classless to fake a field goal. they should have just gone for it. what he was trying to do was put nails in for the next few years. imagine that, setting a tone.
  23. i know this thread is beat to absolute death but i gotta say it my way to feel better even for a minute... i was watching the game last night and all i could think was "Man, this defense we're running looks familiar." Then i realized, as Mizzou wasnt' slowing down and kept getting point after point, that it looked like the EXACT SAME f'ing DEFENSE WE RAN AGAINST TEXAS TECH AND GAVE UP 70 POINTS. So at this point in the night I quit screaming, "Rush the passer! Send more than 3 down lineman!" and just watched to see if there would be any adjustments from TWDCE (The Worst Def. Coordinator Ever) and sure enough, nope. So now I've been driven to insanity. All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy All Coz and no fire makes i am i a dull boy now, how could i type that so many times in a row? isn't that kind of a waste of time and just plain stupid? well, ask Cozgrove how he could run the same f,ucking defense 80 times in a row and in two different games? because i've gone completely insane watching him destroy our tradition!!!
  24. Davison's interview was the highlight of the game. Seriously, it was. what he said about our program and such was RIGHT ON THE MONEY. Players don't believe in themselves or each other, how could a program only 6 years removed from playing in a NC game in the Rose Bowl be so far off, there are some questions that NEED to be answered this week. Fans don't have to apologize for high expectations, we have a rich tradition that needs to be fulfilled, the passion and emotion of the college game has turned into a professional one. etc... I just sat there and nodded my head in silent agreement. I like Callahan as a leader and offensive coach. I think he can recruit well and I think his players trust him and play hard for him. I even think he was a steal to get in here at the right time for the program's turning point. But wins and losses don't lie. Neither do the big game stats and the numbers against ranked teams and teams on the road. We have had our rays of sunshine against Michigan and such, but like my brother said last night, "When was the last time you felt truly sastisfied with a Nebraska game." (let alone season?) I texted my friend after the game was over. He is a K-state fan (who, like most K-state fans was actually calling me and talking sh#t last nite) who knows nothing about having a sick feeling in your gut about the only team that truly matters to you. And for the first time ever, ever in my life I told him that I just don't think we are that good or that our coaches have an emphasis on passion and fire and guts and intensity. I admitted for the first time EVER in my life that maybe Nebraska just isn't very good. I completely agree with you California Husker. I will still go to the KU and CU games this year and cheer and support. I always will. But today is the day I quit having expectations and gut feelings about winning all of our games and maybe an upset or two and just somehow maybe, maybe getting into a championship game. The Huskers will have to earn back my blind loyalty and will have to play with a lot of fire and passion before I look to them without gumption. They may play for Nebraska, but they are not playing like Nebraska.
