  1. If they're installing a totally new staff, there will be changes to the offense...and defense. More than likely a couple or a few recruits will bail.
  2. Check out this 2003 video of a recruit from a Miami high school. He mentions Nebraska 1:38 in. (Don't kill the messenger) http://smartfootball.com/grab-bag/year-of-...otball#comments
  3. I'm guessing the AD, Dr. Tom, is very comfortable with the staffs recruiting philosophy/process. And so am I.
  4. Justin Makovicka, Mike Hays, C.J. Zimmerer, Kevin Thomson, Tyler Legate, Brent Moravec Will anyone get game time? Or are all these bodies used for scout team practice to mimic the few teams we play that use a fullback? http://64.131.67.10/vbbs/showthread.php?t=66618
  5. When a lineman recruit is a thrower or a Bball player it always gets a mention. Seems to be an indicator of explosiveness, agility and overall athleticism.
  6. Since it is currently based on the historically most successful system in the NCAA. There probably isn't any outside input or alterations needed. It reaped results in 2008.
  7. Another Academic AllAmerican. http://www.bismarcktribune.com/articles/20...ocal/185729.txt
  8. The coaches have stated over the past year that two positions are extremely hard to recruit for, because of rarity. Natural defensive tackles and natural fullbacks. I have no idea how the fullbacks on the roster are projected in the scheme of the future. Is that a dead position at this time and those currently on the roster will be moved to other positions? I was nervous as a prostitute in church last year about landing future DTs. Looking at the recruit list for 2010 shows few DTs. What gives in the way of 'natural' DTs for the Huskers? What is our chance landing a natural like tSUHnami in this cycle or the next? Or are the top programs going to continue their stranglehold on the naturals and keep Nebraska on the outside for the near future?
  9. Bob Stoops is the only coach in the B12 that can, consistently at this time, go head to head with ND and UT and have a chance at this time. Bo is probably 2 years out on this. Don't start a fight with me. I used the phrase 'consistently at this time'.
  10. I haven't taken the time to determine chronological order, but. For some time I've also noticed north schools offering the same recruits. I thought perhaps it was an effort to deny a north opponent a very good potential player so they would have to take a lesser quality. With the hundreds of potential recruits it obviously seems to be more that mere coincidence. And of course, we've gone against Oklahoma from Bill's tenure through Bo's seeking some of the same recruits. Without much luck recently. See Travis Lewis and OK's recent quarterback recruit. The day we clear that hurdle will be a day of infamy(sorta).
  11. Be sure and read page #2 of the above link. The previous AD was also cleaning up pretty good with KSU paying him consulting fees earlier. And there were people asking for Pearlman's head after the Pederson/Cal fiasco. KSU is in train wreck mode. Bill Snyder doesn't have enough cardio left to get the football program back on track. And . . . that is just one of the athletic department's issues.

  13. Probably overall, Coach Cal's classes run 40 to 50% of recruits that minimally contribute. In all fairness, isn't that about average for all schools? 04 recruiting class: http://www.huskerrecruiting.net/Verbals04.htm fun reading for class of o4: http://www.huskerrecruiting.net/recruitsumm04.htm more reading for 04: http://www.huskerrecruiting.net/2004recruit.htm everything you want to know about the 2005 class: http://www.huskerrecruiting.net/2005recruit.htm everything you want to know about the 2006 class: http://www.huskerrecruiting.net/2006recruit.htm for the 2007 class: http://www.huskerrecruiting.net/2007recruit.htm for this guy's entire site. 14. if Zac Lee needs to move a television be sure and give him a hand. http://www.huskerpedia.com/huskerdan/20090424dan.html
  15. Does everyone remember the anti-Bo people when Bo came in and gave Marlowe a scholly? They were really griping saying the kid was walk-on caliber. Same thing was said about TO offering Kreikmeier. He's making moves also. Both of these kids have shown flashes this spring.
  16. http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_12215359 I'm proud for the young man. For how well he's done in his life.
  17. Many players who commit early continue to listen to offers from other schools. Ekeler said for many recruits, choosing a school early helps build leverage for more interest and scholarship offers. “Kids play the game, too,” Ekeler said. “Some kids will commit early and then will call you up. They’re maybe kids you haven’t offered yet and they call you up and say ‘Coach, I want to let you know, I still love the Huskers.’” Cornerback Anterio Sloan, who is currently committed to NU’s 2010 class, may be one of those recruits playing the game. “We will see what happens down the line,” Sloan told Rivals.com on April 20. “Right now, I am solid to Nebraska.” http://www.dailynebraskan.com/sports/accel...aches-1.1727057
  18. link: http://www.huskerspot.com/notes/What%E2%80...Pitts_Interview Helmet cameras and martial arts for defensive linemen. A number of years ago some NFL team was using ballet dance training for linemen. What's next?
  19. Had to go with Minter. But I have a special spot for Bret Clark. Bret was from Nebraska City. His late father played at Peru and taught my sons at Southeast Consolidated School, Stella, NE. And Bret's son, Tyson Clark, will be a walk-on receiver this fall.
  20. And who the heck is Mistress Denna? You sure you want to be poking at her, Dunder.. She looks like she might be naughty. Hmmmm? S and M?
  21. Sometimes it is a straight line race, for example a DB covering a WR on a fly route, or a FS chasing down a RB to make a touchdown saving tackle. So yes a players 40 time absolutely matters. Now I will agree with you that 40 times have become over-rated and over-hyped due in large measure to espn. However, that's why all those other drills: cone, shuttle, broad and vertical jumps, etc are used by scouts in conjunction with the 40 to determine athletic ability. Are you really a girl? You're have more knowledge about football than about 90% of the guys on here. Baffling, aint it? .....and potentially intimidating.
  22. If schollie offer quota is down for 2010 (and it is), then walk-on offers should go up appropriately to level the inflow. And to maintain a stable program number.
  23. But I would like to add this one grey phrase from the Yahoo story: “I think I’m pretty much through,” he said. How do you interpret that? Soft verbal?
  24. Sort of what I thought. But at least Sanders made a 'really' good impression. Holding him will be key. Until we get farther down the road, this can only be construed as a 'soft' verbal. (Don't you just love the 4 levels? 'soft verbal' 'verbal' 'solid verbal' 'signed'.) But the red and white spring scrimmage should further bolster his enthusiasm. And as we know, all verbals have to be catered to and contact maintained until the LOI is signed ten months from now. Yes, he will continue to get calls and letters from other programs continuously. The NU staff is used to routinely dealing with it anyway. So it is still a job holding the verbals as the collect them. The kid wants to be a pharmacist. Gotta think he has an IQ.
