How about mention of Charlie Ward? Nebraska had Charlie Ward's number when Nebraska played FSU in the Orange Bowl, and Charlie Ward went on to the NBA after College Football. It's an outrage saying Eric Crouch was the worst Heisman Pick ever because Eric Crouch was the only reason Nebraska did as well as they did in 2001.

I am more than a little miffed about the article. To even mention that Osborne is a racist is totally bogus. Osborne simply said that Nebraska felt that the Head Coach they were looking for needed to have a deep understanding of Defense in order to understand how to run the offense. Osborne was 1 in a million who knew how to play an excellent Chess game on the field and knew how to put an opponent in check in 1 move. I have met Osborne in person and he knows how to make everybody feel worthwhile. Maybe Gill wouldn't have been the complete fit for Nebraska and Osborne probably wished Gill well wherever he went. Tom Osborne who stood behind Lawrence Phillips and REFUSED to kick him off the team not because he needed Phillips, but because Lawrence Phillips needed to be a part of something. I think Osborne knew in his heart that maybe the only good constant in his life was Nebraska Football. Turner Gill will make a name for himself for all the right reasons. If Osborne would have placed Gill as Nebraska's Head Coach, and lets say that Nebraska went 7-5 or worse, then people would have second guessed Osborne and wondered if he put his heart in front of his head. It saddens me when people are in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation from the press.

Colorado is excited about playing Nebraska reguardless if they're 0-11 or we're going through a losing period. I mean, the Colorado players and fans seemed to "Mark Out" (Sorry, wrestling term), over their win keeping Nebraska from going to a bowl, In 2001, Colorado pinned a 62-36 win against Nebraska, and in 2002 my Wife and I were at the Nebraska Colorado game in Lincoln and the Buffs fans were in droves yelling 62-36! Colorado vs Nebraska might not have the prestige that Oklahoma vs Nebraska had, but even if We don't consider Colorado a rival, they sure think that way about us.

I'd prefer a playoff system, it works for Divison II Football.

That screen shot of Colorado in EA sports NCAA Football is inaccurate because you can't see the totally drunk fans, and you don't see empty bottles (snowballs on snowy days) hitting the field when the Buffs are losing.

Looks like my memory serves me correctly. A face mask still isn't a face mask in KSU. I guess Nebraska had bad calls against them that year too. I pretty much did the same thing I did last year listening to Anti Husker Bob Greise talking about how even if Nebraska got the 1st down from the penalty it wouldn't have made a difference. Duh...
