  1. I don't believe that play calling is really the issue (which is why I think this whole topic is irrelevant). But, I do think our run scheme in game 1, and the first half of game two was just not getting it done. It reminded me of Mike Riley's run philosophy in 2015, and 2017. But as for your last sentence, yes, absolutely. But I fear it is too late.
  2. Game 1: Team doesn't adjust in the 2nd half, loses. Fans: Why don't the coaches make 2nd half adjustments? Game 2: Team makes second half adjustments, wins. Fans: No, not like that! But for real, even though I have a very small glimmer of hope that this will end well, whatever they did, it worked (on offense). The staff has to get creative, instead of just doing the same things that aren't gonna work.
  3. 2022 Game 3 “Expert” Picks: Georgia Southern @ Nebraska ————— CollegeFootballNews.com Why Georgia Southern Will Win This is not your older brother’s Georgia Southern team. New head coach Clay Helton wanted to change things up a bit, and while the running game will still play a big role, the passing attack is about to get going. In came Buffalo transfer Kyle Vantrease, and at least for one week, everything clicked as he threw for 367 yards and four touchdowns in the blowout win over Morgan State. Nebraska’s defense is far, far better, but it’s still shaky, it got pounded on by Northwestern’s ground game, and overall it took a little too long to put North Dakota away in a 38-17 win. Georgia Southern will move the ball better than the Fighting Hawks did, and they ran for over five yards per carry. Why Nebraska Will Win Again, Nebraska might be struggling, but it’s not Morgan State. If might be a tough go so far in the 1-1 start, but the Huskers found an explosive runner in Anthony Grant, QB Casey Thompson has been strong in spurts, and it has to keep being said, even though no one wants to hear it – it’s EARLY. The Huskers have the parts to be far better, but they’re still looking like a team getting the timing down. Georgia Southern isn’t going to be great against the run – Grant and the ground attack should have a nice day – and everything should be fine as long as … What’s Going To Happen The Nebraska turnovers have to stop. They were an issue against Northwestern, and the two against North Dakota didn’t help. The Huskers don’t have to be perfect, but they’re getting killed whenever there’s the slightest momentum shift. Fortunately, controlling the game on the ground – and getting to Vantrease with the pass rush – should help take care of that. 4. 2022 Game 2 “Expert” Picks: North Dakota @ Nebraska ————— CollegeFootballNews.com Why North Dakota Will Win The Fighting Hawks should be able to keep things moving. The offensive line is good enough to pound away a bit – maybe not like Northwestern did last week against the Huskers in Dublin, but enough to get the ground game going – and QB Tommy Schuster is careful with the ball. He can hit the short, midrange throws, he’ll get time to throw, and the team has a way of controlling the clock and keeping things moving. However … Why Nebraska Will Win You think Nebraska is going to be just a weeeeeee bit fired up to get back on the field? There were a whole slew of things that went wrong in the meltdown loss to Northwestern, but Casey Thompson threw for 355 yards and was solid in the first half, there was a little bit of a ground game when the offense tried, and even after giving up 528 yards of total offense, the defense actually held up more than it got credit for. North Dakota won’t be able to grind it out like Northwestern did, the team should come out with a renewed energy, and … What’s Going To Happen How much does it matter that Nebraska is coming off that long, rough trip to Ireland? This is supposed to be the breather of a week – Northwestern is taking it off – but North Dakota is just physical enough overall and strong enough defensively to make the base grouchy. The Nebraska passing game will kick in after the first quarter, but it’s not going to be as smooth as everyone might like, at least for a little while. 5. Like just about everyone... I was all about the Frost train. But it's just not working. If he won the next 15 games in a row... he'd have a worse record than Riley did when he was fired. If he won the next 22 games in a row... he'd have a worse record than Callahan did when he was fired. If he won the next 50 games in a row... he'd still have a worse record than Bo did when he was fired. It sucks... but it's all but over at this point.

  7. 2022 Game 1 “Expert” Picks: Nebraska vs Northwestern ————— CollegeFootballNews.com Why Northwestern Will Win So what changed over the last several months? When we last saw Nebraska win a football game, it had no problem with Northwestern in a 56-7 blowout – that was the only Husker win since September 11th. How is Northwestern better than last season when nothing seemed to work right in a disastrous 3-9 run? To start, the offensive line will be a major plus around All-America tackle Peter Skoronski, there should be more of a running game, and the defense got a little help from the transfer portal for the line. On the other side, there’s a big-time PROVE IT factor for Nebraska. It went 3-9, too. Head coach Scott Frost wasn’t replaced after another awful year, the defense has to prove it can start taking the ball away, and QB Adrian Martinez is off doing his thing at Kansas State. If Northwestern can slow this down, keep it low scoring, and make it about who’ll screw up first, it’ll be in good shape against the team that has all the pressure on its side. Why Nebraska Will Win Nebraska just got more talented. It’s still missing the playmakers across the board to make a ton of noise nationally, but QB Casey Thompson was a good get from Texas, and the receiving corps got a ton of help with Trey Palmer from LSU, Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda from New Mexico State, and Marcus Washington from Texas. The defense filled in a few spots and helped boost up the depth. The biggest change is with the style, getting offensive coordinator Mark Whipple over from Pitt – he helped make Kenny Pickett a ton of money. Get ready for a far more dangerous passing game, and it starts with hitting a Northwestern secondary that doesn’t return anyone who came up with a pick in 2021. What’s Going To Happen Really? You’re going to pick against a guy named Fitzgerald in Ireland? Northwestern and Nebraska were supposed to go to Dublin in 2020, but a global pandemic had something to do with that getting moved. Now the two kick off the Big Ten season in Week 0, and it’s massive for both teams. Northwestern has to show that the problems of 2021 are well in the past and the style, toughness, and line play can be enough to get back to a high level. Nebraska has to show that all the changes under Frost were enough to start winning.Don’t expect anything pretty. The Northwestern lines will be strong from the start as Fitzgerald’s squad slows things down to a dead stop at times. Nebraska won’t have the running game to control the clock, and the third down conversions won’t be there on a consistent basis. However, Nebraska will hit two deep plays in the second half to finally start to pull away a little bit. Northwestern will have its chances late, but its fourth quarter drives will stall as the Huskers get out with a stronger-that-it-will look win. 11. As for the game, it's my birthday, so I will probably be having people over to BBQ and watch football. And hopefully not cry.
  12. I have a picture of a positive COVID test if you want it... Just saying.

  14. I know we suck right now, and aren't gonna get a lot of attention. But I actually enjoy watching other games too, and seeing all the info on the matchups. But ever since the playoff started, ESPN has been so hyper focused on the playoff and "who's in" that it's ruining their product. Like, who the hell cares about "who's in" after Labor day weekend?
  15. Honestly, as someone who used to watch Gameday religously... it's just not the same. I'll still watch it that first weekend, and also flip it on first thing on saturdays because the opening gets me in the mood for the day, but after that.... IDK. I've been watching the Fox show more, because they actually cover more stuff. Also, while the BTN show isn't as "high quality" at least they talk about all the matchups. Gameday is 3 hours long, but only about 30 minutes of it is actually useful. Outside of the picks at the end of the show, the rest of it is all fluff pieces or focused on like 6 teams and the playoff.
  16. Honestly... I'm shocked Iowa isn't ranked. Texas, Miami, USC, A&M????
