Chalk me up as another that thinks HuskerJenn is wrong on this one. The "most outrageous" thing turned out to be true so obviously it wasn't all that outrageous. Only discussing things that have been posted on a newspaper website makes for a pretty dull board. If someone knows information that person is a source and can say what they know. They shouldn't have to wait for only sources that work for the newspapers sites to post it before they can comment on it or disclose what they know. And leaving the board open to every single rumor that is heard turns this place into Rumorville, which really soured some people on HuskerBoard a couple of years ago. HuskerJen was absolutely correct in her assessment here, and the OP has NOT been shown to be true. The guy claimed Castille failed five drug tests. There has been zero proof that he failed five drug tests. We can all speculate, but until we have evidence to back it up, it's just another rumor. How hard would it have been for someone to post that Q was kicked off the team for his fifth street racing bust? Or his five hundredth alleged parking ticket? Or anything else? And what, you're going to believe it, without proof? Or is Q getting kicked off the team proof that he has unpaid parking tickets? Fact is I WAS RIGHT about him being off the team, 24 hours BEFORE anyone else. That doesn't mean I am right about the drugs but my track record on this so far is 100%. IMO Bo will not throw the guy8 under the bus for it. If not law was broken he can say whatever he wants. But answer me this, what else would he be KICKED off the team for, I for one would not think it was for 500 parking tickets. Also unpaid parking tickets would be a lgeal matter, open to anyone with the time to find out. Someone failing a drug test, while never being caught with drugs is not a legal matter, it is for the NCAA, UNL, and the Team to enforce. So your arugment is not valid. You were right on. You would truly appreciate Memorial Stadium, hope one day you can make it. Also, Kyle field is amazing, seeing the entire stadium cheer in unison is truly unbelievable. If people are up in arms based off of numbers, could the down year for In-State talent have something to do with that? Say that Coleman, Daniels, and Hinz were committed to NU to bring up the totals to 9 would that have people at ease? I really don't know, I'm asking. I think we would be much better served if we had someone handling this role (recruiting coordinator) as a sole responsibilty. As you know, I'm a huge Bo supporter, but you're right, the accountability falls on him. Recruiting coordination is lacking. We need someone in this position who has a very concise and effevtive plan. The staff shouldn't be meeting just now to address these issues for the first time since the spring. I'm not up-in-arms about our number of commits, just our lack of organization over the summer.

Glad to see everything is resolved. I'm not familiar with Ted's exact job description, but would we not be better served is his responsibilites were limited to making our WR's better? The duties of the recruiting coordinator used to fall under that of the Head of Football Operations. Now, in no way EVER would I suggest handing these duties off to Jamrog, but I think the staff should cconsider bringing in someone with a marketing background to reorganize and specialize in this role. Trev Alberts would be perfect, should have happened after the '07 season, but obviously he has bigger fish to fry now.

Oh, I agree - and I agree with Willie. The reason I posted the article is that it seems that most talent today - thanks to the camps, evaluations, the Internet, etc. - is identified and "targeted" by most schools. Each of those schools send tons of letters. Most, according to the article aren't even personalized much. Regardless, it seems kids today just ignore them. This is a significant change from years ago. Before recruiting became so big, identifying the talent was not universal, so there were fewer schools sending recruits mail. Getting a letter was a bigger deal. I'm no recruiting expert, but it seems that establishing relationships with high schools is one of the best routes to take. That gives you an "in" with a recruit through his coach. absolutely! (next time I'll read the article before posting...eek!)

I think BigWillie is trying to highlight the fact that out staff has been lacking in coordination and communication when it comes to following up with recruits. They hand't met as a staff to discuss recruiting since the Spring, and have been very poor about keeping in contact with current targets, lagging behind what the competion is doing. I am a huge proponent of this staff, always have been. But they've been extremely incomplacent and have not been held accountable for follow-up. They're very aware of the buzz that's been circulating about. Hopefully it jumpstarts their efforts. There needs to be new leadership and direction established here, or 2-4 years from now, we will really be suffering from a talent standpoint. This has been echoed in a number of forums.
