  1. I read this on the Penn State Facebook site: Penn State Football Students have changed the tide for the Nebraska game to be a Blue Out. Blueout against Nebraska-- stop child abuse Saturday, November 12 at 12:00pm, Beaver Stadium Someone said,'At least the fans are trying to do something positive with this awful situation.'
  2. I have to admit that post on the one board where he listed the names of those kids and what he said at the end just brought tears to my eyes. Those poor kids.
  3. Here you go: http://pennstatefootball.yuku.com
  4. In reading what is going on at Penn State from the folks that live there the emotion runs the gamut from: Students supporting JoePa: http://www.centredaily.com/2011/11/08/2979110/psu-students-rally-in-support.html To folks calling for his resignation: http://www.outkickthecoverage.com/joe-paterno-is-done-at-penn-state-fans-should-boycott-nebraska-game.php To folks calling for him to stay and fight: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/carpenter/mc-paul-carpenter-paterno-20111108,0,4710614.column But the most touching thing I read came from a Penn State Message Board. I hope we play on Saturday if only to support these boys and give them a good game: "On Saturday, I will be in Beaver Stadium, and I will be rooting for Penn State. I will be rooting for Matt McGloin, a former walk-on ...QB from West Scranton who scratched and clawed his way to the top of the depth chart. ... I will be rooting for Silas Redd, one of the hardest working players in the nation. I will be rooting for Stephon Green, a kid who proves there is always a second chance. I will be rooting for Joe Suhey, a so-called wasted legacy scholarship who has become a fine player. I will be rooting for Quinn Barham, Johnnie Troutman, Deontae Pannell, and Chima Okoli, four seniors playing their last home game on the OLine. I will be rooting for Andrew Sczerba, a player who has overcome a ridiculous amount of adversity in the past year just to be on the field one last time. I will be rooting for Derek Moye, who risked further injury to play in one miraculous drive for 409. I will be rooting for Devon Smith, so every undersized football player can see there is a chance for them too. I will be rooting for Jack Crawford and Eric Latimore, because no matter how many times they got knocked down they kept on fighting. I will be rooting for Devon Still, because dominance deserves respect. I will be rooting for Nate Stupar, who showed everyone what the phrase next man up really means. I will be rooting for Gerald Hodges, because we are Linebacker U. I will be rooting for D'Anton Lynn, because he saw for a moment how quickly it could all be taken away, but he got back up. I will be rooting for Chaz Powell, because he has worked hard for 5 years whether on offense, defense, or special teams. I will be rooting for Drew Astorino and Nick Sukay, because even if the fans don't always love them, they still play hard, leave it all on the field, and represent our university. I will be rooting for Adrian Amos, because I still have hope for the future. I will be rooting for Anthony Fera, because sometimes you just have to step up and do it all. Most importantly, I will be rooting for Penn State. Bad things have happened, and hopefully once all the facts are clear those who are responsible are given the punishment they deserve, but Penn State is still a great university with a great tradition. And most importantly, these kids who will run out of the tunnel have nothing to do with this awful situation. Be upset with Jerry Sandusky, be upset with Tim Curley. If you must, be upset with Graham Spanier or Mike McQueary or even Joe Paterno. But don't turn your back on these 18-23 year old young men who just want to go out and win a game."
  5. Paul, I couldn't understand why the Grad Student or the janitor didn't stop what they saw happening? I'm with you. My husband and I lost our only son. If he would've lived and someone had done something to him like that ...well, that person would be singing soprano if you know what I mean.
  6. *Mods-if this is a repeat-please just add it to the right area. I've been reading through the posts wondering, along with everyone else, why the coaches haven't been playing our new boys. I wondered about this particularly during the NWestern game when Rex was obviously so banged up. I mean, as it looked like we were going to lose, why not put them in? They couldn't do any worse than what was going on on the field, could they? Anyway, here is what I'm thinking-could be totally wrong and am interested in what the rest of you think. Bo & Company aren't playing the new kids because- 1. They don't think they're ready (Steve Sipple was on 1620 the Zone today and he said that might be one of the reasons.) 2. Bo is afraid to play them as we still have a chance to win out our last three games and he needs experience on the field. 3. They haven't been performing well enough during practice to play on Sat. (I wonder what the criterion is for them in practice that would enable them to play on Sat?)
  7. Thanks for this overview 'WoodyHayes'. I appreciate it
  8. Both Penn State and Michigan scare me. Iowa now looks like they've gathered some steam too so this is going to be a very hard next three games. However, it seems like we play (except Wisconsin-which I think we could've beat had we stuck with the running game) better on the road than we do at home sometimes. I remember beating Oklahoma State last year on the road and some other teams as well. I read this morning that Penn State's AD resigned. What a sad state of affairs going on down there. This whole thing with Sandusky has been going on since 1999. What a horrendous thing to have happen to their school. Penn State's President is Graham Spanier who used to be here at Nebraska. Ugly thing to have to go through.
  9. Hey BadgerFan, Can you give us any insights on how Penn State plays? We haven't played them since 2003. On the one of the Penn State message boards the fans seem split. Some think that Penn State is going to win, some think that Nebraska is going to win, most of them, however, are so caught up in their AD getting caught for perjury, that's all they are talking about. I think that might be a huge distraction for them.
  10. You are such a hoot! I'm so glad you're on this board!!
  11. I know! I felt kind of stupid doing it but I really wanted to start talking about this game! I wanted to hear what people thought our chances were, what kind of score we would have, what we needed to do to beat them, etc.! Thanks you guys!
  12. Haters gotta hate. Im just tired of the sunshine pumpers who come in and accuse people of changing their feelings after wins and losses. This thread was created to try and prove that the people who were criticizing Martinez were wrong. Im just reiterating my feelings toward him. Question: Do you really know Taylor so well that you can make these kind of statements about him? Wow. Brutal stuff! So, who would your pick be to qb Nebraska? Just curious.
  13. Bump-I'm wondering how Bo will approach this team. One of the things that I wanted to see during the Northwestern game was more misdirection. Why didn't we use the reverse play? It was such a 'vanilla' game offensively. I felt bad for our defense because they were out there so long! Blah!
  14. Bump-Ok, how can we win against Penn State?
  15. Where did you hear that rumor? There are 2-3 games that would get picked before this...and its already been announced that its at the Stanford - Oregon game anyhow. I'm sure it was the aquarium guy. Actually, I read it on the ESPN blog comments section. Obviously, the rumor was just that-a rumor! lol
  16. That's what we should all be doing. Saturday is over. Done. This weekend's game is important and that's what the focus should be. We blow off wins easily here, so lets do the same for a loss. I'm trying but my post keeps getting pushed down!
  17. What a refreshing post in the midst of our agony! Thanks so much!! (You'll always have the sweet memory of Iowa St. beating Nebraska before we left. My Cyclone friends remind me of that win every time I see them! lol) Great win against Texas Tech!!
  18. Yes, we have a young and/or inexperienced team. I was so hoping that we could get a nice lead during some of the games we played so that the young and/or inexperienced kids could get some playing time. Question: Is there a '2nd/3rd/4th' string? If so (if that's the way the team is divided up) shouldn't those folks automatically go in when someone gets hurt? I'm telling you, I'm really afraid we're going to lose Rex if they don't start giving him some down time. I heard that Coach Bo didn't practice him earlier this past week, but did you look at his elbows? They were raw. Poor kid. He probably hates not being on the field but sometimes you have to just tell him 'No'.
  19. I don't know. Do they schedule the 'Game Day' things like a year in advance or pick from week to week? Maybe they think that more people will tune in to hear any new news about that situation at Penn State? Blah! What a horrible horrible thing to have happened. If I were a Grad student and I saw that happen I would beat the ever living crap outta the perp and THEN call the police. SIck Sick Sick
  20. The Big Ten Conference announced that Nebraska’s game at Penn State on Saturday will be played at 11 a.m. CT (Noon ET) and will be televised to a national audience on ESPN. (Rumor has it that this will be a 'Game Day' on ESPN as well??)
  21. Bump-NU-PSU set for 11 a.m., ESPN
  22. Woman after my own heart! Cheers!! GBR!!!
  23. Yeah, I'm thinking that they'll be about 19th or 20th too. That's ok. I truly believe that we will win our next three games. I just do.
