  1. We ask that You keep the players safe from harm.
  2. I've been reading the board this week and comments others have made in other places on the social media and in public and it got me to thinking about what kind of Husker fan I am. I was really mad when we lost last week because I thought if we played the way we did first quarter we would've won. I'm sorry but I don't think Wisconsin is that good of a team. They have a good quarterback but we sacked him twice. I felt that if we would've stuck with our running game it would've been a better game. The defense needs work but they (in my humble opinion) are young in certain spots and can get better. So for my part I decided that win or lose I'm still going to root for the Big Red. I supported them through the glory days and through the Callahan debacle so I'll continue to do so. Now does that mean I won't talk about their performance? Won't question why the coaches did or did not do certain things during the game? No. But I will continue to support them. So for me, it isn't a question of 'Are you a true Husker fan?' I think everyone here is a true Husker fan or we wouldn't care enough to write but what kind of fan do you consider yourself to be? (or is this just redundant?)
  3. Yell really loud for all of us and we'll be at home yelling our heads off for you! GO BIG RED!!!
  4. I wonder if we would've heard all of this criticism had we won. If we would've stayed in the game, still had those interceptions but made a come back later in the game. Would all have been forgiven?
  5. This is another example of an unfair comment. He is trying and trying hard. So he didn't learn a lot of basics in high school...he's still a great athlete and the COACHES put him at qb I agree. When you think of how he was last year-barely spoke a word to anyone, sat apart from the team. This year? He's laughing, he's trying to pump his team up, he's initiating leadership. Ok, so he doesn't have a good throw-is that something he could improve on? Isn't that what quarterback coaches are for?
  6. Oh! Don't get me started on his speech! He has THE worst lateral lisp I've ever heard.
  7. I appreciate your 'two cents'. Here's mine: I will support our team no matter what. While it was a big game, it was only one game. I thought we played great first quarter. We went with them toe to toe. I actually don't think that Wisconsin is that good. If they didn't have Wilson, what would they have looked like? We'll find out next year when he's gone. I liked it that Wiscy was a little rattled that first quarter. We knocked their qb on his backside a couple of times. That first quarter was good football. So, GBR! BEAT BUCKEYES!
  8. I LOVE BTN network. It's so nice not to have to pay to see our boys play. It was also so much fun watching our games from back in the 90's again. ESPN is ok but they repeat alot and some of their announcers don't like Nebraska (Fowler!) Give me BTN network any day.
  9. But could we put in Carnes for short periods of time? Maybe Martinez just gets overwhelmed. When that happens maybe put Carnes in so that Taylor can take a breather and get his wits about him. Would that work?
  10. Yeah, let's get behind our team! They need our support now more than ever, not kicked while they're down. While the game they lost was a big one, I'm sure that they feel worse about it than we can ever imagine. Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne both have been shellacked like this in the past. Bo is going to be fine. Like someone else posted, he has to grow too. I look forward to seeing how we will evolve in the next 4 years. We have some really talented young men on our team but they're young. They'll learn. On to the Ohio State game! GBR!!!
  11. (Patting you on the back) We all felt that way CN. Think of what an ass I feel like after I wrote all over the board: WE WILL WIN! And I really thought we might pull it off as I watched the first quarter. We DID do some really good things in that first quarter but what is frustrating for me is why we didn't continue to do those things. Blah! I'm hoping that we'll get the opportunity to play Wiscy again.
  12. Really? Tell me how you felt the first quarter? We did some VERY good things in the first quarter. We had those Badgers a little rattled. I loved the 'back and forth' play. Martinez was spot on in the passing game, we had a very balanced approach. I don't know how you reacted to the first quarter but during that time I thought we could pull of the upset. I thought we could win. But we stopped doing those 'good things' and the game came unraveled for us. So I must respectfully disagree with you. There were several good things about the game.
  13. Question: How DO coaches grow? Is it just by watching films, watching what other coaches do? Do they go to workshops like other professionals do? I'm just curious. I love Husker football but have no idea how coaches get better. Thanks
  14. I agree-we did some very GOOD things last night. We had Wisconsin rattled. They saw that we came to play. Then...the nightmare began. We became pass happy and our defense went flat. Ok...so that's behind us. What can we do now? I, for one, would like to see Coach Beck become dedicated to the run. It is Martinez strength. It was funny-watching Wisconsin play last night reminded me of the great Nebraska teams of the 90's. I read somewhere this past week that Barry Alveraz (AD for Wisc.-former NU player in the '60's) said that when he was a coach for Wisc. he wanted to model his team after the Huskers. Well, he did! We were playing that way in the first quarter why in the world did we stop?? That is what I just don't understand.
  15. Question: Is become a better passer something that can be learned? If Martinez committed himself to learning how to correctly pass, could he improve? Also, was the real reason we lost due to Martinez or did we lose because we simply could not stop the pass...couldn't contain Wilson?
  16. I agree. I'm sure all of us were cheering our heads off when we scored first! They can't take that away from us. We played well first quarter. Our biggest problems were these: We got away from our running game and our defense couldn't stop the pass. So, come back next week and see what we can do at home.
  17. Oh for crying out loud! Get a grip! It's one game! We are a young team. We have alot to learn. Sheesh! We weren't the only ones that got the crap beat out of them tonight. Florida got beat, A&M got beat, Ohio State got beat! I'll bet you weren't 'abdicating your fandom' when we made that first touchdown or the second touchdown. Fair weather fans make me so tired!
  18. No kidding-that happened twice tonight but was never called.
  19. No kidding! They held our boys all night long and got called on it like twice. Crap.
  20. They'll be ok. Taylor just needs to settle down and start handing the ball off to his running backs. I feel sorry for the defense because W has been holding our boys all night and they've only called it once. It's crap Mary!
  21. OH YEAH!!!!! WE ARE THE TRUE BIG RED!!!!!! HUSKER POWER!!!!!
  22. HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GBR!!!!!!
  23. I think Lee has done very well considering the stroke he had. I've worked with stroke patients to improve their speech and he has done well. I don't see him as a 'confused little old man' quite the contrary. I enjoy his insights and he's been right about us more times than not. I think Herbstreit (sp?) doesn't really care for us and Fowler can't stand us so thanks Lee-you're right-we WILL win.
