  1. So would have I, so would have I... I think that's why this was such a disappointing year for us. We KNOW we could've won ALL of those games we lost. That we didn't succeed is eating at all of us. IMHO.
  2. Al Golden (Formerly coach at Temple) chosen to coach in Miami. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5912786
  3. I put it in here because I think it's hilarious!! I HATE Texas. They ruined the Big 8. They ruined the conference they were in before us, so I think they are getting what they deserve!! Their bullying has finally come round to bite them in their big fat backsides! I couldn't be happier!! Sorry if this wasn't the place to put it but those who recognized that it was another shot at Texas-thank you! That's exactly why I put it in here so that everyone else could join in the celebration!! Good riddance to the Big 12 I can't wait to be in the Big 10 next year!!! GO BIG RED!!!
  4. Florida hires Will Muschamp as coach http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5910011
  5. Bo's staying put right here in BIG RED country! Whoo hoo! http://www.wowt.com/sports/headlines/Pelini_Comments_On_Miami_Job_Switch_Rumors_111677899.html
  6. From WOWT: http://www.wowt.com/sports/headlines/Pelini_Comments_On_Miami_Job_Switch_Rumors_111677899.html “The reports that I am preparing to interview at the University of Miami are false. I will not have any additional comment on this matter or any other rumors.” GBR!!!
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5902864 Nebraska denies Bo Pelini report * Email * Print * Comments ESPN.com news services LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska's athletic director is denying a report that coach Bo Pelini is a candidate for Miami's coaching job. Athletic director Tom Osborne told the Lincoln Journal Star that he has not given Pelini permission to speak to Miami about the job, and Pelini says he didn't seek permission to interview for another job. Pelini wouldn't otherwise comment publicly on the report. Pelini isn't the only coach apparently out of the running for the position. Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen is no longer being considered for Miami's vacant job, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Bruce Feldman. Mullen had spoken to Miami officials, who have also interviewed Connecticut coach Randy Edsall and Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville, sources told ESPN.com. Mullen told The Associated Press he hasn't been contacted by anyone about another coaching job and has "no plans on going anywhere," adding the speculation was annoying "because I have to answer things that don't pertain to our football team." Mullen was in Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday for a Gator Bowl reception that welcomed coaches before the New Year's Day game. Mullen was joined by Michigan's Rich Rodriguez. Mullen, who spent four years working for Meyer at Florida, says he has not spoken to his former boss. Mullen sent Meyer a text message wishing him well. Pelini's Cornhuskers (No. 18 BCS, No. 17 AP) are 10-3 heading into the Dec. 30 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl game against Washington (6-6). Miami fired Randy Shannon last month after a 7-5 season. Pelini and Nebraska football officials didn't immediately return messages left Thursday. A secretary for Osborne said he had told her to tell callers: "There's nothing to comment on."
  8. I was just reading about Bo on the Miami Hurricanes Message Board. They would LOVE to have Bo come to Miami. They said that the AD gave Bo permission to do an interview. Well, we all know that's horse manure. As for me, why would Bo move his young family to Miami? Nebraska is a perfect place to raise your children. I can't see Bo moving his family all the way from 'down south' (he has already tasted coaching down there) to Nebraska just to leave three short years later? Blah! I'm sure like all professionals, Bo gets contacted at least once or twice a year to come coach somewhere else. Has Florida called him too? Does he want Urban Meyer's old job? Blah! again. Why would Bo be out recruiting for Nebraska if he was leaving? It's just like when the Omaha weathermen predict huge snow storms and we get nothin' I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT! In the meantime........GO BIG RED!
  9. Prince also won the Pop Warner award: All-Big 12 cornerback Prince Amukamara of Nebraska has won the first Pop Warner National College Football Award. The honor goes to a former Pop Warner football player who shows excellence on the field, in classes and in the community.
  10. When Frank Solich had to make changes in his staff, wasn't it Steve Pederson behind that change?
  11. On the 'Husker Buzz' this morning, Sean Callahan said that while Watson did go to Vandy, he is not considered one of the top candidates. While Watson is a well respected coach, he is only one of many in the running for the job. We shall see.
  12. If there are to be personnel changes on the football coaching staff at NU next year, who makes them? T.O.? Pelini? I would think it would be up to Tom Osborne?
  13. What an excellent post! Thank you! We're all a little 'sore' and your post was balm to our wounds. One of my favorite professors was from Northwestern. I'm looking forward to being able to be part of your academic family. Moving to the Big 10 was one smart move! Thanks again for the perspective! It was much needed -ladyhawke~
  14. The Hawkeye fans are just as upset about having to play Mizzou as we are having to play Washington-yet again! http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/football/21673-insight-bowl-passes-neb.html
  15. I'm behind the team. Just want to see how the team responds now... If we practice in these postseason practices with the fire that we had before the Holiday Bowl last year, then we're in good shape... We've got a long ways to go to becoming a championship team again, and this is when it all begins. This bowl game is the first game of next season. That's the spirit! (You just sounded so sad before ) I agree with everything you've just said, especially 'This bowl game is the first game of next season." Our first season in the Big 10! Here's to a great brand new beginning!
  16. This is the same question we were all asking after the Callahan fiasco! Look how far we've come!! How do the Huskers bounces back? The same way it did after Callahan- by leaving all of the other crappoloa behind. By using the off season to make changes that will not just make us a better team but a great team. What is going to fuel us is the notion that we can be better than we ever were in the Big 12. This is the time to MOVE FORWARD!! The "We didn't win the Big 12 Championship" pity party needs to be over NOW. WE NEED TO MOVE ON!! It's going to be ok!! Look at what we have now!! I don't know about you but Rex Burkhead is enough inspiration for the whole team. The kid plays tough and has the character/drive the team can get behind. We also have Dr. Tom Osborne as our AD. He is the captain of our ship. HE will make the changes that need to be made. I don't know about anyone else but I'm excited about next year!! We have a 0-0 record in the Big 10. When we win our bowl game, which will be against a Big 10 team, we'll be undefeated as we go into our new conference. Now is the time to change our mentality!! Enough of this 'poor us-we didn't win the Big 12 Conference Championship' We've lost bigger games than that one! (1983 loss in Miami!!). Come on Hercules!! Like you said: "The team has responded unbelievably well to losses under the leadership of Pelini." They will follow him where ever he leads. It's time for all of us to pull up the old bootstraps and get behind our team. We've always been considered fans that 'travel well' with their team. Now is the time for us to get behind this team! I'm with Nexus. GAME ON!
  17. The ONLY reason I was sad to leave the big 12 was the thought of not getting to play OU anymore. Such a classic rivalry! I don't know if anyone else noticed but our win/loss stats (before we lost yesterday) were EXACTLY the same! Please continue to beat Texas year after year. We will be rooting for you to win the Big 12 (-2)championship every year after this! Hoping to play you in a future bowl game! Thanks for the memories- -ladyhawke~
  18. Amen! Rex is a difference maker both on and off the field. He's a great young athlete and a young man of character. He'll go far on the football field and in life-class act.
  19. I was just watching ESPN Gameday. Lee Corso picked us!! The rest OU. However, prior to the talking heads they had a presentation on coaches from Youngstown, Ohio. They showed clips of Bo, Bob & Mike Stoops and other coaches who grew up in Youngstown and went to Cardinal Moody High School. On every clip they showed the coaches yelling and poking/grabbing their boys in an effort to get them to play better. ALL OF THEM!!! It put Bo's passion in a totally different perspective! I wish all of the people, including Taylor Martinez' dad (and others that think Bo is a 'raging maniac) could see how fortunate his son is to have a coach that really cares about their players, really cares about winning. It was a great presentation. The Talking Heads (except Corso) say that Nebraska is too 'one-sided' to win. They all agreed that it will be a 'cat and mouse' game. I'm older than dirt here, I BELIEVE that it will be a good, old-fashion BIG 8 smash mouth football game and that the BIG RED will WIN! GO BIG RED!!!! -ladyhawke~
  20. Yeah, they were talking about this on 1620 The Zone-ESPN Radio-Omaha tonight. Kuegler said they had all received the same email. They said that right now while parts of it might be true it's mostly hearsay. No one will know until the bowl game is over. We'll see. -ladyhawke~
  21. Here you go. This article might help: http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/22430/weighing-in-on-the-all-big-12-teamsawards -ladyhawke~
  22. Good article by ESPN Big 12 Blogger-David Ubben: http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/22430/weighing-in-on-the-all-big-12-teamsawards -ladyhawke~
  23. Hey, ESPN Big 12 Blogger David Ubben is with us on Alex's snub. Good article about us: http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/22430/weighing-in-on-the-all-big-12-teamsawards -ladyhawke~
  24. I can't believe that Alex Henery only made 2nd team!! BLAH!! Alex Henery NEVER misses (ok maybe twice in his WHOLE career!!!) The kid who is coming to kick for us next year (Nikolas Sade-saw him tonight on Big Red Wrap Up) is going to have some HUGE shoes to fill! -ladyhawke~
  25. Who beat OU? Missouri? We beat the crap outta them. Texas A & M? We all know that the refs gave them that game when they played us, so why does OU think they can beat us? I think we can beat them. I agree with the writer who said that if Landry passes all night long, our Defense and especially our secondary is going to have a field day. Prince hasn't had any picks this year-right? I would love to see him pick off Landry's passes one right after the other. I would also love to see us shut down their running backs. We've done it before there's no reason why we can't do it again. I look forward to our win and I actually don't think OU would mind losing to us. It will be such a sweet send off from our favorite rival! -ladyhawke~
