  1. Saw his breakout speed running up the sidelines today - pretty darn impressive!! I got a close-up view of all the backs today, and Lucky, Castille and Helu were going through some drills where they run through pads on either side. I just keep thinking that Castille is a monster/bruising back, and with that Helu run today, Lucky better not be complacent.
  2. Chills ran up my spine this year when Osborne came into power and the first real change everyone in the stadium felt was when he changed from Mikey Bo back to the "Tradition" tunnel walk. When they showed the picture of Osborne on the screen, everyone went flippin' nuts!! That one will live in my memory for a long time.
  3. I've been telling people at work to watch a new show on TLC by a noted hypnotist from Britain. Although he doesn't do any hypnotizing "through the TV", or at least not yet, he knows about the mind and how it affects people's actions. It's called "I can make you thin" by Paul McKenna, and it is pretty darn good. He has very good reasons why his methods work, and there's only 4 "Golden Rules" he touts in the first episode, two of them being "Eat What You Want" and "Eat Whenever You're Hungry". Now THAT'S my type of diet. So far I've been working on it for the last week, and I notice I eat a lot less during the day. Everyone should give it a try. His website is: http://www.mckenna.com/ And the TLC website is: http://www.tlc.com/thin
  4. I know that search was disabled because of the flood of traffic when Callahan was being fired and TO was being brought on board, but now that the peak traffic has waned, can the admins turn the search feature on again? Thanks!
  5. Castille will still be here, he's not going anywhere!!
  6. Huskers vs Falcons in Lincoln, on a fall day with light wind. 2007 Air Force Falcons - 77 2007 Nebraska Cornhuskers - 27 WOW......
  7. I wouldn't want to dis Bo, far from it. What do you think the chances are that he will be one of the greatest coaches in college football? The odds suggest he doesn't have much of a chance. Very few coaches make that list. I'll sure will give him a chance, and I really do hope for the best. But, the odds are against him, as I am sure you understand. Bob Devaney, and Tom Osborne are a big act to live up to. It is unlikely that Bo will be that good. It's not at all negative, just true. We had an incredible run with Devaney and Osborne. Maybe never to be seen again. I've met negative people like yourself. You're ready to lose before the game is even played. I disagree with you wholeheartedly. I'm not at all negative about Pelini. I think he has a good chance to be a good coach for NU. But what are the chances of any coach being as great as Osborne? Not good. He is unique. Hey, I'm all for Pelini. I think he is a good choice. But will he be a great coach? Probably not. Most aren't ya know, even the good ones aren't as great as Os. My guess is that Pelini will be a good thing for us. But a return to the glory days isn't likely to happen anytime soon. It's just the way football goes. I'm all for Pelini and I will cheer for the Huskers. Just don't get disappointed if we aren't like the glory teams of the past. I'm not sure why you (or many other people on this board) seem to think that Bo Pelini is where the program starts and ends. You may doubt him, but from what I see, he is putting together a great cast of support for the program. Anyone who thinks that Bo Pelini coming to the program is in itself going to right the ship is naive. The key to the whole equation is exactly what TO is mentoring/helping Bo to do - build a great supporting cast. TO did not work in a vaccuum, and neither will Bo. That may be where Callahan got things wrong - you need support from the ground up, and he didn't seem to want to bring that type of teamwork to the program. Ask any leader or CEO, and they will tell you that their success comes from those people around him/her who are striving for excellence. Bo has done remarkable things already to get this program back on its feet. I think he will be around for a while (more than his other mentor Frank), and I think within 4 years we will be vying for a National Championship. Add the talent to the scheme to the determination of this entire program, and you will see success. The difference between Callahan and Pelini will be the tradition and support of others in the program who will be able to contribute.
  8. You must be blind...she's the hottest one on there. I voted about 15 times, and although she is catching up, she's 30K behind. Everyone should help out. I've seen it before when Nebraska gets behind our candidates (ask Kirk Herbstreit). PS - the polling seems really weird, and skewed. Most of the country is voting for Anne except for about 4 states. They must have tons of votes coming in from those states to be that far ahead.
  9. Now, that's the kind of fight I want to see out of a coach. I don't care if it's hard-headedness, I want to see a coach that's loyal, that is going to do whatever it takes to right the ship. I'm sure TO is going to demand some staff changes, and the D-coordinator and his staff is definitely going to change, but I don't think I would be opposed to see Callahan stay. We criticize this guy up and down for his record this year, and rightly so. He wanted 4 years, and we gave him that much rope to hang himself with, but I am actually impressed that the guy is taking this much criticism and is still hanging in there and saying he wants to be with this program till the end. I want that type of fight in him. If he was really looking at an Offensive Coordinator for the NFL, I don't think he would have said this. This actually gives me hope. As far as the scheme, our O is coming back under Ganz, and I still believe that our WCO can do some damage. Hell, we even ran the option TWICE this week. Maybe I'm a super-optomist, but I don't think things will be terrible if Callahan stays in the driver seat and makes some serious defensive changes. Just like Solich, I think Callahan would be willing to let go some of his staff to save his a$$ and his ca$h. Whatever TO decides, I'm OK with.
  10. Don't forget the apex of fans treating other fans with the utmost respect: Texas Football Fan Nearly Castrated in Bar Fight in Oklahoma Bar
  11. I was thinking the exact same thing. It kind of pisses me off that the guys on here will say Nebraska should take the moral "high road" if we ever get back to the situation where we're up by 40+ points in the 4th quarter. Just out of spite, I think we should ram it down their throats and break the NCAA scoring record just because we can, and because they showed us no mercy today. Man-gina needs to really think long and hard before he goes about this again, because KU will only see the top of the Big 12 North once a lifetime, and if he doesn't want things to look ugly the rest of the millennium, he shouldn't be running up the score.
  12. That's pretty much what I had to do w/ my A&M tickets. What a great financial decision on my part to purchase a few xtra tixs to sell this year. I'd like to thank BC and SP for taking food away from my child. Seriously??? If your intent was to sell them to earn extra money, then you should know in business that every move has inherent risk. You could have sunk that money into the stock market or taken it down to the local casino. Any way you slice it, your business investment was a high-risk high-reward situation, and you just lost your bet. Regardless, your kids should blame YOU if there isn't food on the table, and you should chalk it up to a bad business decision on YOUR part. It irks me when people who want to scalp and jack up prices for tickets so they can make a quick buck off of the REAL fans, yet when they themselves get screwed they can't handle it, and try to find a way to get their money back. If you really just want your money's worth out of the tickets, I'm sure you can sell them for face value - there's numerous outlets to advertise them (craigslist, etc). If you bought them for your own enjoyment, then I'm sure you'll get 2 hours of football with one of the teams coming away with a win. If you were in it to make a profit, then sorry buddy, maybe you should find a different profession.
  13. Honestly, whether they deserve it or not, there are a group of people that stand above them in the stands when they make their final walk off the field that cheer for them, and have done so for every home game, win or lose. If we are such "horrible" fans, then we should be booing them when they leave. It seems to me as if these guys are getting in touch with their feminine side rather than growing a pair and going 100% on the football field. I keep saying "give me something to cheer about"!!
  14. I was disgusted during the new/old tunnel walk, 84000 fans screaming for our program's tradition being restored, and then they cut to Callahan leading the team onto the field. That prick had his head down, no emotion, with the guys behind him looking like a funeral procession. I thought, if this guy isn't hyped up for this game, then how can he expect the players to be. Osborne showed little emotion, but he didn't ever look like he was conceding defeat before the game even started!! I guess it's appropriate that Callahan looked like he was about to witness his own funeral. Cut that guy QUICK!!! Anyone else see the same thing I did??
  15. IBR - you da man! Love the updates! Keep them coming...it's the only thing I have to believe in anymore when it comes to Husker football!! Now that GOD has descended back to the team, it will give me something to believe in again. As far as TO "lying" about not making any moves, give me a break. He was/is a politician, and he knows how to handle these types of things. It wouldn't be earth-shattering if he said, "given the state of the football team, and the obvious downward trend, I felt it necessary to make changes to the team before we hit rock bottom. I know I said no changes were going to be made before the end of the season, but I felt as if the team needed immediate change to overcome this adversity." Done. Period. Nobody thinks twice about it. Everyone believes TO, and he gets the job done.
  16. How to of the day: Be Optimistic The How to of the day on wikiHow seems to be very timely. Maybe the admins are Husker fans???
  17. This maybe, but it does look really bad when there are a lot of empty seats when the game begins. I even heard Jim "the tool" Rose say how many empty seats there were to start today's game. Even if the streak continues, boosters and the right people will get the idea if there are lots and lots of empty seats! I didn't see that. It looked to me from my vantage point (North-West corner of the stadium) that the stadium was full at the start of the game. I said to my friend, "well, at least we haven't lost support from the fans". The guys sitting next to us left right before halftime, and said to us, "this is the only way they'll get the message". We stayed till the end, but the stadium was probably at half or less capacity by that time.
  18. How far deep into the bowels of the internet do you have to search to come up with a rabbit with a pancake on its head. LOL!! That made my Thursday.
  19. Soooo, we bought Elton John tickets for this Saturday at the Qwest center. I know I'm not alone - there's got to be others out there who thought we could watch the game during the afternoon, and then go to the concert that night. Well, as fate would have it, Elton starts at 8:00pm and the game starts at 8:15pm. I'm sure I'll see someone else in the crowd with the earbud in, and I'll ask him for the score when he jumps out of his chair cheering. It will be just like those crazy people who schedule a wedding on a Husker gameday. What are these people thinking?????? Anyone else going to be missing the game Saturday?
  20. When you get a trophy that matters on your shelf, come back to us little boy. Until then, go play with your Pinkie. The best record Missouri has ever posted was 9-2 in 1969. It's been a downhill slope since then, posting amazing records like 1-10 TWICE. Missouri is a never has been, and is like the little brother who bothers you, bragging that he's tougher than you, but you turn around and beat him down, and he gets up from his beating and starts talking trash again. Some idiots never learn. Nebraska may be YOUR rival, but we've got bigger fish to fry. Always have, always will.
  21. Anyone who complains about people standing in front of them needs to go to their local cable company and buy the HD package, or turn on their radio from the parking lot. The people who have tickets are there for one reason - to do whatever it takes for our team to win. Let those that complain know that there's a bar only a couple of blocks away where they can sit all day and watch the Huskers. While they are at the stadium, they are EXPECTED to stand and cheer for the huskers.
  22. I was just thinking about this - I couldn't really hear the song very well, but I was grooving with it on a kickoff. I love the original by the Jackson 5 - one of my favorites of all time by MJ. Here's a video - not sure if this is a homebrew or the actual video from King of House: I like the song. . .this video. . .not so much. . . PS - the original by the Jackson 5 (caution, long video). You can tell where Michael's inspiration for the 15 minute Thriller video came from: Jackson 5 - Can You Feel It
