  1. A compressed week after a compressed week. This wasn't going to be a typical bowl prep. 4 practices top.
  2. For about 30ms, I assumed I misread the game time and was about to run out to my living room to fire up the TV
  3. FWIW, the article is not saying (unless I missed something) that Wyoming gets the same cut as Bama. Athletes at Wyoming would get the same distro as Bama athletes If donations count as revenue, then this bill kills college football as it is. Basically its: (Revenue - Schollies)/2 --> what colleges can spend on facilities and other sports. It is also going to kill all non-rev sports except for a few women's sports to maintain title ix.
  4. I am not saying we should do this for continuity. I am saying we should do this because Nick Saban ain't walking through that door and it is quite possible we have the right guy but need to work through some issues a bit longer. I would also point out that Mike Shula and Mike Price were also the 3rd and 4th coaches they hired in a 6 yr span just before Saban.
  5. I didn't say we were the only fickle fan base. Michigan and LSU are right up there with us, USC, probably a few others. I have heard many sports journalists sarcastically refer to the fickleness of those fan bases -- particularly Michigan. Having said that, regardless of what you or I think, it is the perception, is it not? I take your point about high expectations. I have high expectations and we are no where near meeting those right now. However, with the finances and the perception, we need to take a beat and let Scott do his thing for a while. Because our options would be extremely limited. The only schools trying to hire their 3rd coach in the span of 6 years should be in the MAC. (i.e. stepping stone programs)
  6. 16 GB should suffice. It has 8, so if it has another slot you could add another 8 and get there.
  7. I am not sure we have any more shots at this point in time. The financials of any move are a non-starter. We are still in the middle of a $100 million hit -- RIFs and salary reductions. No way are we going to self-impose a bigger hit at this time -- and the effects are going to take years to overcome. Leaving that aside, there are the optics of not giving this particular coach at least 3-5 more years -- and I am not even joking about that time frame. We have a well-earned reputation of being one of the most fickle fan bases in the country. We are going to have a harder time and pay a steeper premium to attract any established coach based on that reputation.
  8. This looks decent for an entry point into PC gaming. I would upgrade the RAM asap and maybe plan on getting him a better keyboard and mouse after he get's into it a bit. Those are wear some of these trim costs -- and there are aftermarket options that are much better for those.
  9. Absolutely. Plus -- at some point we need to get off of the damn carousel and give a guy a decade to see what he can do.
  10. I think it is way too soon to talk about firing Frost -- who I am not a big fan of personally. We are on the 5th coach in the last 20 yrs. We need to stop worrying about what ESPN or the internet thinks about our program and just support it. If we don't see traction after another couple of years, we can revisit.
  11. I thought the offensive play calling was decent tonight. USC defense was very good and we broke down in execution a few times. I am very pleased with the play of the WR. I thought tonight was the best I have seen in our WR corps for a while. OL had issues with the running game and neither Lucky nor Glenn were decisive enough. With respect to the defense....it simply reminded me of a Craig Bohl defense....plain and simple.....wasn't he a read and react guy too?
  12. Sam Keller was listed as a guest on the Jim Rome radio show today. His show is 11am-2pm central time and is on AM 590. You can also stream it on: http://www.sportsradio610.com/ (When the hell is 590 going to get a stream?) Some funny--albeit childish--smack going back and forth between Trojan and Husker fan the past couple of weeks on his show. Today would be a great day to get out there and flood Rome with emails. He thinks we lack confidence in our team because of the Wake game. I know some people are more of the "Speak softly and carry a big stick" school and that's cool. I am going to run some smack b/c that is how I roll. Anyway, Keller should be on at some point and it will be interesting to hear that.
  13. When I get some time I might have to get the iMac on this task. I am not familiar with "The Game", but either Drowning Pool's "Bodies" or "Step Up" would be good too. Put either songs to some highlights from the Blackshirt hits past and present would get the house rocking. Mix in some Lyle Bremser and my f*cking head might simply explode.... GO BIG RED God I am ready to run through a wall.......game time cannot get here fast enough!
  14. This is classic! Nice job! That might be the best.....that guy could be his son.
  15. NU 31 USC 21 Huskers jump out early. USC mounts comeback, but Huskers stretch the lead in the 4th and win. Mark May begins weeping and Herbstreit says that the 2001 Miami team is better.
  16. The problem with opening the playbook is the way they practice during the week. They 'install' packages for the game plan and practice those exclusively. They also practice the two minute offense several times every week. So, opening the playbook is complicated by that fact. We ran the ball well on individual plays, but did not seem to string those together. There were pass plays that Keller did well on, but we saw drops by receivers. I do not think Callahan felt the need to open the play book. There was periodic success when the line played well and receivers looked the ball in. Just my opinion
  17. On the couch with my still reliable Powerbook. WAY TO GO CORY!!!! O looks better this drive.... GO MO!!!!
  18. Let's get this party started. Watching Gameday. Surprised I have not heard much about USC, even though they are idle....lol. They actually showed a few highlights of us and showed Coach getting off the bus for the game this morning. Kirk and Lee assume we will be looking past Wake, which I hope is not the case. This team needs to ensure they do not look past anyone if they want respect and recognition. Also seems to be an assumption we cannot run on Wake Forest, which I am not sure is true. Obviously the numbers will be down this week, but I still think we hang 500 total yards--split evenly--on the Decons. What I really want to see is some finish on the defense. We did not finish enough last week. We were in the QB's grill all day last week, but had either 1 or 2 sacks. I want to see 5 or more today. GBR
  19. He actually was pretty good at it a few years ago. But he also gave some near heartattacks with the ocasional drops. As many have mentioned before, there will be some different guys in there through the course of the year. Cally has even hinted on that. Can't wait. I generally take it easy on the kids, but too many mistakes for a senior imo.... e.g. fair catch, stone hands I hope we see his head on straight this and following weeks.
  20. Awesome.....god I miss being a student....except the not making any money part...
  21. ( A ) Take care of Wake Forest ( B ) Forget tearing down the goal posts.......tear down the entire College Gameday set (Including Corso and Crying Kirk) and parade them down O-Street Husker Nation doesn't replicate.....we innovate.
