  1. God, felt bad for Parker going up against that guy. Solid foot difference in height. Smart play by Pettaway to not try and get over there and take a late foul. I'm afraid they are going to try and do what the announcers mentioned and get him low trying to draw that 4th foul quickly.
  2. I forget why basketball is hard to watch, as many fouls in 30 seconds of play as our o-line has in a game. Thats saying something. Granted were only down 5 now, 36-31.
  3. Very sloppy game so far, not just from a shooting standpoint but overall generally sloppy. Is there an ice rink under that court? Both teams guys are slipping left and right. Don't have a good feeling about this, especially with our foul trouble. Those darn Hawaiians seem fired up to play us. I am interested to see what adjustments Miles makes, not only in this game but through the season as we are at least recognized as a notable game on anyones calendar. It might take a year or two to expect success game in and game out, as we have a quasi-target on our back. At least when referring to the non-conference opponents, I'm expecting our team to be a bit more focused in conference play. I still think we have to have a solid year this year before we are seen as a true contender in conference play.
  4. A million times, this. +1,000,000Football is a gigantic revenue source that funds countless academic activities. Perlman absolutely should be judged on how he manages the football program. Really? Show me a single academic activity that football provides money to. Just one link will suffice. From a non monetary perspective, it's an invaluable brand that advertises the university across the country and attracts students. This is absolutely true. But football does not fund any academic activities directly. I never said directly. Yes, ticket sales don't go to the sociology program. The better the football program, the better the image, applications go up, etc. "Funds" might have been the wrong word, but to say it does not affect the academic institution is equally wrong. There is a reason presidents have been dismissed due to wrongdoings in the football program elsewhere. Which in this case, it is probably better for our image that Bo was let go.
  5. for some reason i can't get a link to work...but this is from a OWH article about recruiting in November. I’m still not sure the car is as “fully loaded” as it could be, but Pelini seems satisfied with the level of support from Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst and his administration, whom Pelini said have done “a heckuva job giving us all the tools.” “I like what we have in place,” Pelini said at Monday’s press conference. “I think we have some good momentum. I like where it stands right now, and hopefully we can finish this class off. I feel like we are a lot further ahead.” Exactly! I knew there was an article out there that had direct quotes from Bo talking about the support he had this year, to revamp the recruiting. It is sad that he says one thing, but then in private goes and changes his opinion to fit his agenda.
  6. Loved the fact he called out SE for not being able to look him in the eyes, whenever they met. Funny, because I don't think I ever saw Bo look a reporter square in the eyes when being interviewed at a game. Also - guess all the money, additionally staffing, and rental of private jets for recruiting doesn't count for support from the AD.
  7. Great! I'd be absolutely elated If this is the case. It'd also go a long way to mute they Mike Riley naysayers. If we land all these recruits, next fall could not come quick enough. The excitement around the program, and the positive energy, is exactly what we'd need.
  8. Not that I'd be upset if this were true, but honestly I take everything I hear from footballscoop with a grain of salt. The site is a click bait site, had anyone ever used it prior to the coaching firing/hiring shenanigans? It looks like it was set up by a sophomore In high school.
  9. Pops was from nebraska, starting making the trip north from Dallas, when I was 5 years. It's a special experience for me, even walking around the campus now - the memories I have from 97 KSU, 98 Texas - trust me this one hurt saw my first loss at memorial stadium, 00 Colorado, 01 oklahoma, 06 texas - again probably the funniest game I've been to regardless of that fumble and loss, 08 Colorado, 09 oklahoma - old school defensive battle, 11 Ohio state, 13 northwestern and 14 Miami. Sister is about to graduate from UNL and I still to this day envy the fact she spent 4 football seasons up there! Great games and great memories, it's turned into a family tradition. The gf even made it up this year, and she couldn't believe the atmosphere. Although the Miami game was different for me to. I hate hate hate the U and everything they stand for. The atmosphere for that game is one that I saw in Baton Rouge when bama came to play there. I saw that as impressive, especially since she's from Midland Texas and we all know how nuts they are about their football - see/read Friday Night Lights. They're crazy about their football, although the only academicly successful high school is private. Granted she went to SMU, so their program and gameday experience isn't much to write home about. However, if anyone is ever in Dallas for a game and would like to "boulevard" I'd be more than happy to host a fellow husker.
  10. Also, Morgan was not a silent commit, but that doesn't matter know.No i left the decision up to my son. But yes i loved the academic of the university and he did also. I didn't say Nebraska was my favorite until he told me he made up his mind. I raised him right lol Also, Morgan was not a silent commit, but that doesn't matter know.An example of why the NCAA not allowing schools to pay for a parent/guardian to accompany their kid on a visit is idiotic. Either way great pick up like i said i asked my son to take the visit but I totally left the decision of his choice up to him. Never mentioned that Nebraska was my favorite choice until he told me he decided on his commitmentAnd props to you for allowing him to make that decision. We've seen kids commit only to have their parents block their commitment. BTW your boy got them hands. He got hops too. Lol lol thanks its crazy because that's the first question all the universities wanted to know....by Stan being my only child they didn't think I would allow him to leave home. Lol really? He needs to experience more than just New Orleans and he told me we was going to leave town.I apologize, bit long winded but.... I hope our coaches can instill this mindset, of leaving their home state, in more recruits. I know for one when I was choosing schools for swimming I applied to one instate school, TCU...how I wish Nebraska had a male swim program - side tangent it would've been awesome to swim for Pablo! However, I was ready to get away from Texas. The four year break was a great experience, especially in Southwest Missouri - go bears - both parents were from the state originally and grandparents lived there. However, once I finished up school I realized what my home state had to offer, it's a sense of rejuvenation. I was ready to come back and make a difference. I feel like a lot of athletes can do what Stanley did and choose a great fit school out of state, away from pressures of other kids from your high school. For example, I felt like half my high school went to Texas tech - joke I know - and it wouldn't have allowed me to become who I am now. I know I developed and matured a lot spending 4 years away from my parents and I wouldn't trade it for anything. That sounds bad, but being 6 1/2 hours away allowed me to make independent decisions. I'm very proud of his decision. Additionally, being from Texas and having a lot of LSU buddies I know the talent pool of NOLA, I'm glad we could snag him. Out of curiously, and you don't have to answer, are there guys from his team that are showing interest in Nebraska? I just wonder what the school's reputation is down there. I know in Dallas, the school has lost traction because of leaving the Big XII - just curious what the southern states feel about the school. I feel like coaches / AD personal opinion on schools make a difference - at least somewhat. The AD at my old high school is an Arkansas grad. He was able to swap a lifelong OU fan to sighing with Arkansas. Again, probably addition, unnecessary information but just providing an antidote as to what we're facing recruiting wise in Texas. Congrats on his decision, choosing a school away from the quote unquote comfort zone of his home state, great step towards developing into a great man - although based off your responses and involvement that's obviously not a concern. He's got a great influence to follow! Hope you stick around huskerboard after all the signing day festivities and look forward to your feedback about the program and his growth at a special place. It's pretty awesome to have a first hand experience of the recruiting process. Most of us could only dream of having NU's staff in our house - recruiting our kids, although I'm not going to have to worry about that for a while. Go big red! Welcome to Husker Nation. Also, hope he can make an easy trip for you to the Superdome when the playoffs are there in the next couple years. NOLA is a heck of a city, travel there for business quite a bit and the history/mystique of It is pretty awesome. PS Saints are my adopted team. Growing up in the 90s in Dallas, everyone was a Cowboys fan and I couldn't stand it. I picked the next closest team - plus NOLA always sparked my interest from this history side alone. It was awesome to see what Drew Bree's did with that team after the hurricane. I really wish they would've heald onto Sproles. Guy is a stud, still remember him tearing it up against us in 03... Hopefully they can make a playoff push! Who dat! Coming from a guy dating a cowboys fan. Sad thing is, their still the same bandwagon fans - her pops has season tickets 8 rows up and the last few years, I've been fortunate enough to go with her. Have yet to see the same person sitting next to us. However, she loves giving me grief this year. End rant 😏
  11. God I remember after the Miami game, thinking this might actually be our breakthrough year... the team got me good. Great work on the videos!
  12. Well good thing we wont have to worry about that next year then, since they are shutting down the program.
  13. 1) whats the difference between hitting a raw nerve and a nerve? 2) labeled, not labled - that is if you're referencing the past tense of label 3) The reason this thread was "labeled" HOT was due to the mockery of your original post. 4) Thanks for the olive branch on the friend ship. I'm afraid of that thing, heard it had the same architects as the Coasta Concordia. Blame geocities all you want for your grammatical errors, but I think it goes a bit further. I'm a firm believer in Ron White and would have to agree, "you cant fix stupid".
  14. I might have missed the article, but has Tennessee offered?
  15. No way would we have been able to kick 6 field goals.T_O_B Did you mean 8?
  16. Well if he was blackshirt98, he'd be allowed - since that account is currently banned.
  17. Now I'm intrigued as to whom the sock puppet might be. I remember there being another user a couple months ago that was quite entertaining and usually spoke in broken english or 3rd person. My money is on that guy, however I can't seem to remember his username.
  18. When I read his Twitter handle at first, thought it said @thekidstayin. As in staying at Nebraska. Great to hear he's on board, hope he stays healthy and is ready to play. He's going to be a good one - new system should only illustrate that more.
  19. Gary Allan likes to watch airplanes.
  20. +1. Not a snowballs chance in hell he leaves, doesn't matter what money is being thrown at him. Every single Baylor alum I know loves the guy's recent success. Something funny I heard on the radio this morning, Baylor has hired a PR firm to try to improve their chances of getting into the playoffs. Hell if they'll spend money like that for a playoff birth, imagine the money they'd shell out to ensure he stays as their head coach. Any sort of move for him from any program, would only result in a pay increase an extension like Saban got last year.
  21. I agree. How would it look for him to come and win 8-9 games for 3-4 years and get canned. I don't think there is a real clear cut guy out there. Eh, give it 7 years to let it all play out.
  22. The '14 defense is nowhere near the abyssimal 2007 defense. The 2014 defense is skewed heavily by the Wisconsin debacle. Outside of that, it's been a decent to good defense. 2014 gave up over 30 points 3 times, 31 to Miami, 34 to Iowa, and 59 to Wisconsin. 2007 gave up 49 to USC, 40 to Ball State, 41 to Missouri, 45 to Okie State (35-0 at half), 36 to A&M, 76 to Kansas, 31 to KSU, and 65 to Colorado. The more in depth stats tell the same story. It's also favorable skewed by the fact that Michigan State stopped playing football at the end of the 3rd quarter. And Okie State and A&M stopped at halftime in 2007... Agreed there, was just saying that our defense wasn't leaps and bounds better than 07. Like someone mentioned above, much stiffer competition than what we saw this year.
