  1. Jeez I didn't realize that if we fired a coach we automatically get another Billy C. Thanks for clearing that up. If we fire a winning coach, the likelihood of a good coach wanting to come here are close to 0. It's why we ended up with Callahan. If you guys are so sure that Pelini's ceiling is 9-10 wins why not wait for the enevitable losing season you claim we are going to have and then fire him. That won't happen because of three OOC games against crappy teams and then playing in the horrible B1G West where you are given wins against Purdue, Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, and either Rutgers, Maryland or Indiana from the East. It would take an epic collapse for NU to have a losing record against that kind of a schedule. That is why 9 wins vs this schedule means that your program is the definition of mediocre. Any coach can do it and we need someone that can get us over the hump and back to at least being relevant in our own conference. If what you say is true, more coaches would have the same success that Bo has. If any coach can do it, why are there are there so few schools that consistently get at least 9 wins. Because there are only a limited number of coaching positions in the B1G West.

Nah, you just explain to through the hiring process that it wasn't about the record - more so about the annual 2 blow out losses and 1-2 games we shouldn't lose a year. I don't think many coaches would argue with that, seems pretty understandable. If you play good, competitive football and we see continual improvement over the years - your job is safe. I know this has been the circular argument on HB for the last three weeks. Lines have been drawn in the sand and there isn't anything anyone can say to change the opposing views.Worked well the last time, no? It didn't. You're right, it absolutely didnt. However, this should not prohibit us from trying again.

  4. That I'd be willing to bet Bo does not make a cocky, "If they want to fire me, fire me" comment during the post game.
  5. Iowa took a play right out of our playbook and went full retard.
  6. Make the coaches take a bus home. They don't deserve to have resources spent on them at this point. The piss poor effort we've seen this November is an absolute joke. Good thing those shorter practices they went to this year really paid dividends in November.
  7. Half of huskerboard is getting their wish of Fyfe playing fulfilled today....the rest of huskerboard is getting their wish of Bo fired sometime next week. Win win for everyone!
  8. Why would richt leave a place with better recruiting advantages and is happy with his 10 win seasons in a division that is worse than the big ten west. To go to a place that fires a 10 win coach. I doubt it.Minus the fact that you can't see the difference between firing a "10 win coach", which is one more than his average, and firing a coach who gets obliterated in the games the matter - I can tell you why Richt might leave Georgia. It's simple, he might not have an option. I'm friends with a lot of Georiga fans, some of which are big time donors, and they're calling for Richt to leave. The sentiment in Athens is that they're ready to move on and the writing is on the wall. If I were Richt and knew this, why wouldn't Nebraska be appealing? Didn't Georgia get destroyed by Florida when they were in control of their own destiny. Oh but that is not a big deal bc it didn't happen to us. I bet uga fans think differently. Funny thing is, you last post completely contradicts your first. Yeah, Georgia fans did get pissed and it is a big deal - hence my comment about them calling for Richt's head. I just want to note that these are the same fans you claimed wouldn't fire a coach for 10 wins. I was not supporting an attempt to go after Richt, just providing empirical data as to why he might consider Nebraksa if they came calling. Sorry I seemed to strike a nerve, bud.
  9. Not sure, but I think the questions were phrased incorrectly.
  10. Great work, thanks for the info. Guess this clears up the other thread that was questioning where people were getting the 5-18 number. Looks like a statistical discrepancy between rankings of at time vs. end of season. Agreed that it should be based off of the end of season poll.
  11. No it isn't. Lets get this very clear to all Husker Nation. Due to the fact you get 4 cream puffs a year, and 4 you should be fairly able to manage like Illinois. Its not a good number of wins. People that are thinking that live in the past when teams would play 11 or 12 games a year, Now we play 13 or 14. If Nebraska is not winning 80 percent of its games its not good enough. If you loose over 25% of your games which is what 9-4 is. Then how are you a top 25 team? Being ranked at Nebraska should be a birth right. I mean we go 8-4 and when our bowl game we are 9-4, but if we go 8-4 we are in the bottom half of our side of the conference. I am completely failing to see how having a record that puts us in the bottom half of conference is a good thing, Maybe if your Iowa State. My how the mighty have fallen. This use to be a top ten program. Its no longer a top 25 program. But officially Missouri and Texas A&M are better programs than ours right now. Winners don't settle for average. And yet...a lot of teams can't get to 9-10 wins, especially year after year. I really wish the highs were higher. But I'm really glad the lows aren't lower, and they could be. Just look at nearly every team since 2008. 9 or 10 wins is a fine number, people just want a year or two every 5 where we have more than that. So do I, maybe not as badly as some want it.A lot of teams also don't pump the amount of money and resources into the program in they way Nebraska does, including the fans. The whole "a lot of teams would kill for our record" argument is such a defeatist attitude. When you, as a program and fan base, put in quite a bit of effort and resources you expect quality results. I'm not asking for a 14-0 or 13-1 record every year but I am looking for a program that is competitive in the games that matter. I really don't see that as being too much to ask for.

  13. Ah, yet another manifestation of the "you are not real fans" argument. Was wondering when this innuendo would reappear. No, I am not a season ticket holder. I also do not live in Nebraska and so rarely get the opportunity to attend a game. I did, however, attend UNL for both undergrad and grad school and did have student tickets in those years. I have invested greatly in the University and I don't like seeing my alma mater's proud tradition made into a laughingstock. What is happening at Nebraska is utterly unacceptable for everything that's invested in this program, and any fan should be able to see this. Bingo. I would say that there are a large majority of posters that are out of state, hence the reason for posting/discussing so often in a message board. HB is an easy way to communicate with like-minded individuals who are as passionate about the team. Its not like I can walk into my office on Monday and discuss Nebraska football with whomever. Now, just because someone lives in Dallas, Chicago, LA, etc. doesnt make them any less of a fan than someone that drives in every Saturday morning from York or Omaha. I still attend at least one game a year in Lincoln, because it is a special place, and if I could realistically get up there every weekend, I'd have tickets in a heartbeat. However, with the performace as of late it becomes increasingly more difficult to spend a couple grand on a trip - only to have the team put forth the effort they do.
  14. There's practically nobody that is saying this. I'd be happy with a 9 win season every year.....IF........there was only 10/11 games a year.+1. 9 wins would be perfectly acceptable if there were 11-12 games a year. This is a great point when people try to compare Osborne vs. Pelini on a number of wins through the years. It drives me absolutely crazy because they throw out a stat and then neglect a more important one - winning percentage. 81% or 75% is a hell of a lot better than 69%.
  15. Saban was only at MSU from 95-99 before he was hired at LSU. Ever wonder why someone isn't hiring Pelini away from Nebraska? Pretty sure MSU was under some sanctions at that time too. Pretty impressive resume from Saban at MSU, all things considered. You could see the gradual improvement. Here, with Bo, we aren't improving at all.
  16. If he keeps him I think he will point to Bo having 9+ wins a season and the improvements made since the BC era. Will point at the 3 conference title game appearances. Probably going to make a mention of the academic record and discipline record of Husker players under Pelini. I do want to stress that I do not believe these things, just stating what I think Eichorst may say. I personally think that something needs to change and that the current status quo is not acceptable. If Eichorst doesn't fire BO and comes out with the above as his justification, Husker Nation will consume itself. And the sellout streak, the one truly great thing we still possess, will end. Agreed. As I stated in a earlier thread SE is fortunate that the Minnesota game was the last home game of the season. Obviously the sell out streak would've still been in tact, since tickets were purchased prior to the season, but I guarantee there would've been a large amount of empty seats. I think changes will be made on the account that SE does not want to be known as the AD that saw the sell-out streak end on his watch, especially in his first few years. This is in addition to the blatantly obvious fact that Bo is less than competitive in the games that matter.
  17. Great, the homers are going to use the stat, "Nebraska is one of only 33 teams to be in the top 5 since 2008" to argue that Bo should keep his job.
  18. Remind me of his record against top 25 teams? Anything below .500 should not be counted as "successful as hell".
  19. At least they don't run around bragging about sh!t that happened decades ago like it was last year At least they don't talk like they are superior in every way as a fanbase, claiming to be such good sports, then utterly failing to live that way. Let's face it. We suck. We are frustrated. But until our team shows up against a decent opponent, on the road, I think we should tone down the Iowa sucks talk. It just isn't true. 100% agree. Gets a bit embarrassing when you constantly talk s#it up until the point you get jacked right in the face - then want to call foul. Hate to break it to ya, fellow husker fans, but we have absolutely no reason to a) talk down Iowa or b) believe we have the ability to just stroll into Iowa City and win simply because we have a red N on our helmet - yesterday's game should illustrate this quite well.
  20. Granted we were severely outplayed for most of the Michigan State game, you're basically saying Bo's tenure hinges on Alonzo Moore's fingertips in the endzone of that game? Obviously the Wisconsin game was a train wreck, but if you're ready to dismiss a 10-2 coach, need to look big picture here. I know people don't want to bring it up, but what coach in their right mind is coming here? You fire a coach after 10 wins? Both losses coming on the road to top 25 teams? I think the bigger picture that some obviously need to look at is Bo's inability to win the big game, or even be competitive. That's what's so baffling to me, why would you be ok with 10 wins if none of those wins are worth hanging your hat on? With that mindset, we might as well go play I-AA ball and win 12 games a year.
  21. See this is always interesting to me. If you sit down and take a look at many of the teams in the final rankings, from 15-25, you would have trouble picking "signature" wins. Many of these teams simply rack up wins on lesser teams for the most part. I know this is Nebraska, and I'm not decreasing my standards at all, but 11 wins wouldn't be something to scoff at. I completely agree, there is a lot of parity between those teams which makes it hard for me to hang my hat on my argument. I guess my main concern, how many top 15-25 teams get blown out in the same fashion that Nebraska does when we play like opponents? Hell, even OU suffered an embarrassing loss to Baylor this year, but that was an anomaly for them where that has become the norm here. And from a wishful thinking standpoint, I would the program to be above the middle of the pack Top 25 teams - which means that we should be winning more games against top competition than we are losing. We have lost 7 times since 2011 by more than 17pts as a ranked team. That is the most in the nation My point exactly...
