  1. I don't believe that recruiting is a weakness of this staff, as they were handed a complete mess. People continue to compare the situation to Michigan, but they didn't have 2 months with a lame duck staff sending mixed messages to recruits. Pelini also has been honest about "the best players will play" and not making promises about giving these recruits starting jobs before they have one day of practice. This group of Callahan's recruits had likely been promised the world, and that change of pace may have forced them to think about other options. I just think it's a bit premature to jump to the conclusion that this staff can't recruit when we knew we would lose recruits in the coaching transition and they haven't even signed their first class.

  3. I think it will obviously depend on his grade from the NFL draft committee. If, like BJax, he gets a grade that suggests he has a chance of being a 1st - 3rd round pick, I think he'll go. Right now, several of the drafting services have him listed as a late round or free agent pick if he goes out this year, so I would think he would stick around to improve his stock for another year. I think keeping Watson as OC was a positive move in terms of Marlon sticking around.
  4. Yeah, things back in October were sooooo different.
  5. Wings at the Watering Hole are excellent. N-Zone as well.
  6. I would have to think with Watson sticking around that Ganz has an inside track on being the QB. And why not? He was one of the bright spots at the end of the year. At least we know with the new coaches, that the best players will be on the field.
  7. I had also heard that Cook was frustrated because Harvey Perlman wouldn't return his phone calls to discuss the situation in October when Pedy was fired, but Perlman wasn't discussing it with anyone. Cook just thought that his money would grant him an audience and some input, but Perlman wasn't having it.
  8. I agree completely. At least we showed signs of life in the KU game. I've never seen a Husker team quit like I did against Ok. State. I don't usually get upset if we lose, but it made me physicially ill to watch that debacle.
  9. While there have been some legitimate examples of Nebraska hatred on ESPN recently (like Herbstreit pooping in his panties when 3 Husker teams ended up being among the greatest all time - anyone can find that on You Tube), you have to understand why those few individuals hate us: because we were so damn good for so damn long. Now we're not so good, so people are enjoying taking shots at us. The rise of our team will only make them look like idiots in the long run. We will have the last laugh. GBR
  10. The other side of this is that Nebraska has had difficulty in the last few years getting teams to do a home/home series with them. I have been impressed that Va Tech and UCLA (for 2010/2011) were willing to do this with us.
  11. It will just make it all the more kick a@# when we return to glory. Then they'll be saying they knew it all along.
  12. I think the Spring game will be a lot of fun this year. Hope springs eternal.
  13. The meeting might be to pick the season MVP or take a team picture. I would recommend Coz for the MVP.
  14. What's the source on the Winston-Salem flight? Also, it's been widely reported that the search firm we are using is based in Atlanta, so I imagine that's why they flew there. Mostly to thwart all the "I have a friend that works at Duncan Aviation in Lincoln" posts that would have come otherwise.
  15. I hope that KSU keeps Grimace on staff as long as possible. I think about some of the KSU teams of the past (particularly from the 1990s), and I am thankful we are dealing with the product that even this year's team can smack down by a huge margin. Give him an extension.
  16. The media is only giving us what the people want. If their websites didn't crash every time there was an annoucement related to the team, they would probably find something better to cover. As others have pointed out, if there were no interest, there would be no media coverage.
  17. Bo said in an interview earlier this season that he would prefer an offense "like Florida, only better." This made me laugh. -What kind of offense do you run? -The best kind -What style of offense is it? -A style that is better than all other styles of offense.
  18. I think those who are downing Pelini because of the last few games need to watch some tape of LSU's defense. They are fast and imposing, which is a stark contrast to our defense. As much as we all like to bag on the SEC, it's a tough conference and Arkansas has the best offensive player in the country on their team.
  19. It was reported that TO terminated the contracts of all nine assistant coaches, but he also added that those that wished to be considered by the next head coach could stay and help with recruiting. Anyone heard anything about who would be likely to stay of those assistants? Who do we want to stay?
  20. Nothing better than a our fans are classier than your fans thread. We all know nothing bad every happens in Lincoln, and that Boulder is the center of all evil in the universe. Glad we settled that.
  21. The amount of money that we are likely going to offer will ensure good candidates won't be scared away. Rabid, crazy fans with unrealistic expectations are a reality for every college football team that has fans at all. No one looks at a job and says "It's a great program with world-class facilities and they are going to pay me millions of dollars, but I just can't handle those crazy fans. Particularly the ones on Huskerboard...."
  22. It's exciting that a new era in Husker football will begin tomorrow. The players are obviously having a hard time with the situation, but I hope they can hang in there.
  23. Several NFL draft grading services have Marlon listed as either undrafted or 6th - 7th round. Last year, B-Jax was ranked as a first day pick, so I think that influenced his decision. I think he sticks around. Marlon will be a fantastic talent in the NFL, he's just not ready yet.
  24. The best players on D are young, which should give us hope for the future. Having Kuli next year will be a boost for the D line. Plus, we won't have a DC who either blitzes on every play or never blitzes at all. Then again, it's not possible for our defense to be worse than this year. If they were, we might disband the team out of embarassment.
