  1. Well, hell, I guess I'll wonder aloud as well then. So, our teams of the 2000's (so far) play harder, practice harder, are coached better, are better athletes and are better disciplined than the teams of the 70's, 80's and 90's... You guys have GOT to be pooping me. I'm NOT throwing shade over ANY of the past or current players, I'm a goddatt Husker fan thru and thru, but if I'm reading all this HIGH HILARITY correctly, we were FAILURES back then compared to the last 17 years??? Jesus Christ, PARTICIPATION TROPHIES FOR ALL! You trash the Peter's brothers all you want but I really CAN'T see very many NU players that played or practiced with any MORE passion! I can't even RECALL all the players names that literally would have DRANK SAND for Coach McBride or Coach Osborne back then... Give ME a break! Like I said, I ain't throwin' shade on our current roster (PROUD to have 'em) but don't piss down us grey-beards back's and tell us it's raining. GOBIGRED!!!
  2. I can't even express the overall disappointment I have in the product that was drug out onto the field today. I want to cuss out certain players, want to cuss out certain coaches, but in the end that doesn't do anybody any good. I remember when it USED TO, but maybe that's why this is so disappointing. We're living in an age of motivational methodology that I just can't understand or maybe I'm just too goddam old to WANT to understand. Spare the rod, spoil the child is now felony child abuse and civil litigation. Sigh. So disappointed in this overall product.
  3. Oh my GOD, it's almost game time! GOWWWWWWWWW! GO BIG RED!
  4. Good LORD i can't WAIT for this game to start! I'm one of the few that feels like this IS a rivalry game. Yes, only because of a few Iowa fans who openly berate me and call out our 'Huskers, but it FEELS like a rivalry to ME! I REALLY like our chances, even tho there may NOT be a lot to back my gut feeling, I just think these NU men of iron are ready and waiting to complete a televised game that means so much! GO BIG RED!!!!
  5. Uhhhhh, good post. I like it. I agree AND I like your perspective. But. HOW can you be a millennial (from later posts) ? HOW ? I have worked with millenial's... You, sir -or she-beast- are the weirdest talking millennial I've ever encountered. NO-WHERE in your post did you demand a higher wage than I, you didn't question ANYONE'S authority or experience (ORRRRRRR DID you...? Hmmmmmmm....) you didn't DEMAND a phone break each and every 15 minutes of the work day, you didn't expect me to buy you your first 3 cars, AND... possibly MOST telling, you did NOT speak of your RIGHTS at any point...? At any rate, as usual, I will take your post at face value and tell you that I appreciate your comments and your loyalty to the UNL. GO BIG RED!
  6. Sorry, but that's how the game is played....
  7. Ah hell, I don't see it as sooooo bad. I don't see the players 'giving up'. Yes, it's an ugly beating, but it ain't the end of an era for chrissakes! these guys ain't quittin', why should YOU??? GO BIG RED!
  8. NICE! I've been part of the Husker fandom since like... 1970 or so, when I was just a chile brought into the atmosphere by my dad. I've seen a lot of hard years and ups n downs, and this year is one of hope. During the last nat'l champ years I was spending my time as a MAN-WHORE and thru and thru, I NEVER missed a game! All things being equal, GO BIG RED!
  9. We as fans are excited for the next few games, but can you imagine how cranked up these players must be? I see a passionate group in these players and this NEXT game could easily bring that excitement to a fevered passion. I hope these guys get the same "RAAAAAHHHHHHHH" that the 'blood in their teeth' Peter's boys had, that Matt Davison carried, that Scott Frost and Eric Crouch, Tommie Frazier, Johnny Rogers, Roger Craig and Jared Tomich had. Good LORD these kids play through adversity and NEVER GIVE UP! I'm VERY very very proud of these players and how hard they have worked and continue to work toward a perfect season! GO BIG GODLOVIN' RED!
  10. Annnnnnybody know what our rushing yards are so far...?
  11. I LIKE MIKE! GOBIGRED! I liked him last year during the season and I like him THIS season. It's NOT all about win n loss for me... I'm 'just' old enough to recall all 5 of our championship wins and admittedly, I got spoiled for a LOT of years with HARD NOSED, HARD HITTING, OPTION football. Different era, different style... I'm here and enjoying the 'new' coaching we're currently seeing. Feels like the coaching is more in line with what I remember from our glory years. I think the players are showing us the difference as well. YEEEEE-HAWWWWW! BEAT ILLINOIS!
  12. GO BIG RED! Milt Tenopir has been a force and has obviously affected those kids AND the game! MILT!
  13. Yep, these guys aren't dummies and I think that given the situation they are 'in' right now year 2, they are shining. Early prediction? Sure it is, but I like the focus they seem to have on 'playing the game that is working'. Proud of their efforts so far and was proud of their efforts last year. GO BIG GOD-$#@& RED!!!
  14. LOVE watching that kid run! ALWAYS love seein' the ex-big red doin' it on the NFL level, but those fullbacks... GRRRRRRRRR!
  15. I predict we see a much more focused and relaxed T/A for this season. The kid DOES have the talent, he's NOT dumb and I think the Riley era will have him mentally / physically stoked and ready. GOBIGRED!!!!
  16. Victim: Nate Gerry... Offense: Sexual Assault... Suspect: Official that threw that flag...
  17. I do. I think if the coaches will limit Tommy HAVING to make those multi-decision plays and keep it more refined, he has a BIG day and we rumble up the middle some. Keep Cross, Newby and Jano rotating and fresh and there's NO REASON why we shouldn't clean up. I don't hate Iowa, I really think they have a well disciplined team with talent and a good play selection, but I think our Cornhuskers are scary and a little unpredictable as of late. GOBIGRED!
  18. Gotta say it. NU played well, was coached well and got the win like they deserved. Best damn game I've seen in a few years I think! CONGRATS TEAM and coaches!!! GO BIG GODDAM RED!!!! I also say that without naming a name, I think I see the PROBLEM with our game plans for the last season and THIS season up until this game. I know some of you other's picked up on it too. I really don't think it's Riley, Langsdorfer (in the end plan) or Banker... Decision making was limited tonite and simplified and WHAMMO, we get some awesome execution... GO TEAM! GO BIG RED!
  19. Completely different animals. Fullbacks are manly men who love God, country, and family. They give to the poor, shovel the neighbors' driveways, and everybody wants them for their Best Man at their weddings. They are called "fullbacks" because they live lives that are full, rich, and rewarding. H backs are mostly unrepentant soccer playing cast offs who litter, leave their shopping carts in handicapped parking places, and steal from their grandmothers every chance they get. The H stands for "Horrible" HOLY GOD! I think I just spit up some Whiskey Sour, and I'm not EVEN DRINKING!!! FRIGGIN' AWESOME!
  20. Fer CHRISSAKES! Riley is our head coach now...! I watched 'THE O', Solich, Callahan, Pelini, now Riley. He's the coach. Get behind him, or suck hind TEAT! Fair weather fans BLOW! Gotta root win OR lose and YES, it's Ok to be disappointed, but for the love all THAT IS WHOLLY, give the friggin' guy a CHANCE and a BREAK! Riley stands on his own merit, just as the previous Husker coaches did. Just because the flippin' internet made it more easy to vent, pith n moan, does NOT mean any of us get a 'say'. How about this, watch the friggin' games on TV, get happy, get mad and GET OVER IT! GO BIG RED FOREVER!
  21. Naaaaah. In FACT, I think we FINALLY saw improvement in many areas that hadn't really shown any consistent positive change in several years. I think Riley is going to get us where we are a name-brand team 'in conversations' and furrow some opposition brow again. It's not that I hated coach Pelini, I just think he did what he 'knew' and couldn't get past his own self and make marked overall improvement. In essence, I think he was a C+ coach and we need a B+ or A- coach to be worrisome again... I was VERY encouraged by the things I saw in this game yesterday. VERY proud to have Riley as our Coach and VERY proud of the improved play. Heck, we had several starters NOT in the game remember. Shoot no, we ain't done, in fact we may have just begun!
