  1. I don't know. Reading thru some of the 'we suck', we're done', gloom n doom posts, I'm a bit confused. If you expected the 1995 Huskers to come trotting out on the field simply from some coaching changes, I think you were unrealistic in your expectations. I've watched a LOT of husker football since the 80's. The last 10 years have been tougher than others, BUT what I saw today made me feel like we are turning the corner toward a good team again. Think about this, NORMALLY for our FIRST game we'd be playing some lower division squad that we should EASILY crush. I can remember a certain Jackrabbit team that gave us ALL we wanted a while back. BYU is a much higher caliber team as far as 'first opponent' than we're used to. We got down, looked sorta weak heading into the half and then FINALLY had a team that was able TO adjust for 2nd half play. New system, new coaches, MUCH better opponent than normal, hell, I kinda thought we did pretty dang well. Heartbreaker end, but lady-luck is slimey skank full of disease and fake allure. We gotta clean some stuff up, get all our starters in the game and continue to improve but I see some light at the end of the tunnel.
  2. Yeah, you're right. I shoulda been more negative and planned for a crap season and just wrote it off pre-season... What was I thinking? Being HOPEFUL and POSITIVE in regards to my favorite team. FCS...
  3. Yep, thanks Mr. Pelini. It was fun to watch 'Husker football again and you turned our program in the right direction. Wish you and yours the best... GO BIG RED!
  4. IF (big 'IF') any of this Facebook -ugh- stuff were even close to being true: These players ain't dumb. Emotional, passionate, young - yes, but not dumb. They ain't gonna 'boycott' a game tha they worked so hard to get to. They have a lot invested and I don't theink they'll fall for any BS. Bo will tell them to quit being ass-hats if they even think about it.
  5. Abso-GD-lutely. I never went to school there, (only lived in the state for a year when I DID live there), but raised a Husker fan in good times and bad times. I (barely) remember the 1970-71 era, saw the 'went for two' game, still grind my teeth about the 1993 Championship game, watched the Mizzou game alongside a Mizzou fan when the 'immaculate reception' happened and recall fondly ALL the years and games. Yeah, I'd still cheer and root. It is what it is boys. GBR!
  6. Ah heck, Bell is just a young guy that see's all the passion and hard work that Bo puts into this job and he's sticking up for him. Who hasn't felt like that about a 'good dude' that was trying hard but not quite 'getting it done'? Can't blame him, I appreciate his alliance. Trouble is, in the real world (be it coaching a program football team, managing a department store, answering to the public as a safety manager, whatever...) being a 'good dude' and 'trying hard but not quite getting it done' isn't good enough. Bell will learn that as he gets older and you know, I'll bet if you asked Bo about all this... I'll bet he would get really mad and chew your ARS! GO BIG RED. Now it's time to get ready for Minner-sota because I think we can rage them into the FIELD if we play like we did against Miami. GBR!
  7. How often do you hear anyone say, "Geez, I wish Nebraska would have played like Indiana...". Watching the Indiana / Mich St. game is painful for me right now.
  8. OMG! I've never felt so good after a LOSS! I think these NU players have got more guts than glory! NICE!!! Some inevitable mistakes aside (communication and would somebody get Cotton a STOOL to sit on for godsakes!) this was an awesome game to watch! I think this team is friggin' cool as hell! This felt like a complete game. GO BIG RED!
  9. It IS. For now... The CCG, playoff's and national championship game later will be big too, but this one is right up there. Baaaaaacooooon...
  10. How do you guys feel about this years team? I see some vast 'complete' improvement over past teams. It seems we're playing a more complete game on both sides of the ball. It's like the players are fitting the system. 'The system' (right or wrong) seems to be matching the talent we've recruited. Do I think we're unstoppable? No. But I like to see GREAT plays mixed with GOOD plays and it seems like I've been seeing more of that on both sides. So...? GO BIG RED!
  11. Yeah... I don't think we should be booing. I think it looks classless. I don't think NU needs to hear us booing to know we are BEHIND them. I can see how it happens, but I'd rather restrain / refrain. Dig it. GBR!
  12. Yeah, I had an great-aunt that owned and ran a hotel in Newell for many, many moons. Can't remember her name anymore, I think the Hotel was right across from the grocery store in town... I'm actually 'from' Hill City, moved away in early 80's and just returned to SoDak a couple of years ago and ended up in MOGULTOWN!
  13. Heathens...? Yeah- I suppose we are. BUT, at least we're not (blurf-gag) from EAST river, cough, blurp... But, where are you at?
  14. OK, just wondering... I live in the metropolis of Edgemont (which is west of Hot Springs), where you other folks located in our fair state?
  15. Hey... Can someone tell me what FM radio station broadcasts the games? I always have to tune in to Chadron 610am to listen and with tamara's game being a night game, I know it'll come in like a toad strangling slowly on chimp urine. I'm down in the southern Hills (the banana belt of the Hills really) and have basic cable tv thru goldenwest and can't watch the game. GBR!
  16. OK, I'm old. I'm slow. Is there an easy way I can watch yesterday's game tonite? I'm talkin' free and easy (like some of my ex's!!!)
  17. I loved it... Just loved it. Sure it was FAU, but I remember quaking against SD State a few years back and some other INCOMPLETE early games. I only listened BUT it sounded like adjustments, recognition, d and o reads, good tackling and ADJUSTMENTS... Did I mention ADJUSTMENTS...? I could sit here drinking my diet cola and Bison Ridge and name standout player after player for todays game. SOOOOOO happy with this performance! GO BIG FRIGGIN RED!!!!!! Did I hear that Bo smiled during the game...? Is he getting soft on us? How do you smile with a baby owl's ribcage hanging out of your mouth?
  18. Man, mother and child! Made the 90 minute trip to Rapid safely, stopped in Hot Springs and stumbled on a good deal on some Winchester loaded .410 3 inchers ($10 a box!) AND a 25 lb bag o' #8 shot for $30! Oh lord, I hope the feds don't consider me a threat now that I have....GULP... 75 shells!!!! then we made our way to 'the city' and no-one had my voltage regulator in stock (WHAT!??! That seems like a crime against nature to me...) but I got the pleasure of ORDERING one at a CARQUEST and I must say, they were very friendly, helpful and accommodating! Filled my ample meatbag at Pizza Ranch, watched the wife drop $300+ at the Wal Mart (grrrrrrrrr...) and then drove home thru the Hills listening to the game (scratchy as it was on 610am due to those tall green things that surrounded us). I will report only ONE case or roadrage like behavior on MY part (lady in a jeep that struggled to choose a lane while we were turning and decided to use BOTH lanes which caused my pissometer to spin freely and a foul word WAS uttered. HOWEVER, I believe I reparated my faux pas by allowing another driver to pass me illegally into oncoming traffic while I slowed down and pulled over as not to impede his travel... He even waved a thank you at me! It was a good day, save the few initial penalties the Huskers drew... I thought they responded WELL to the 'adjustments' and it sounded like the boys were REALLY reading the game and running free. I LOVED that! Westercamp? Is this kid real or is he simply a hologram of awesomeness...? Looks like we've got SEVERAL good qb's, some good receivers, Cross, Newby and Ameer: Poetry in motion! NU flag is still flying and all seems right... I was over 500 miles away but I could swear I heard Bo actually crack a smile! GO BIG FLIPPIN RED!!!
  19. Driving to Rapid tomorrow to do some 'shopping'... Wife is gonna get some stuff that is necessary for our survival, but I'm getting IMPORTANT stuff: Lead #8 shot for reloading (Dove season is Monday ya know), a voltage regulator for my olllllllllld truck (54 Chevy). Gonna listen to the game and likely display some obnoxiousness and horn honking during the good plays. Will hang the NU flag first thing in the morning before we leave for civilization. GO BIG RED!
  20. Well, I was pretty pleased with the play and swagger of our Huskers today. Yes, I know, they made some mistakes, but overall, THAT was a hard fought game and a WIN that those kids TOOK from Michigan. That was no gimme and I think it was one of the best 'most complete' games these guys have put together so far. VERY PROUD of the GUTS and DETERMINATION they showed. Games like this are why I LOVE college football and the Nebraska Cornhusker teams each and every year. This year seems 'extra' special to me for some reason because of this team and the adversity they are outmanning... WAY TO GO GUYS! GO BIG RED!!!
  21. I wanna see Tommie Frazier pitch on the option to Ahman Green...
  22. Watching the S.D.S. vs N.D. game on tv right now... Uhhhhh... Just like in 2010, these guys could give us some trubbbbble. Seem to be very well coached. Granted, it may just be North Dakota, but these Chackrabbitts are FAST on offense and their QB seems pretty confident in his play. Their defense 'seems' a little porous, but everyone seems pretty confident playing... GOBIGRED!!!
  23. Ya know what... I'm looking FORWARD to this Bowl Game. I think the horses on our O-Line come out, execute and play fast, strong, with purpose and ballz OUT! I also think you'll see our D-line and secondary play well and make some stellar plays. We've all been looking for another 'complete 4-quarters game of play' and something tells me our Cornhuskers want to deliver that as badly as we WANT them too! I think Georgia is good, don't get me wrong, but I think we can play right there with them and win in comeback fashion at the very end! I think Bo and Papuchis share eating a live baby seal on the sidelines in the second quarter on National TV and our Offensive coordinator celebrates the teams apparent blood lust by wearing the seal's skin as a CAPE during the game! GO BIG -GODDAM- RED!!!!!
  24. Hey, I don't think anyone told UCLA to read this board and lose this game!!! So, we had some trouble catching, running, tackling, kicking, blocking... OK, maybe next time, right? I don't know where the blame lies in this game, but I'm thinking there is some shared. Maybe if we all flap our gums in the future about how we're gonna DECIMATE our opponent, it will work out better... Oh... no... wait. I still support and root for these players because they are TRYING and I give 'em 110% grade for effort and maybe a 90% grade for finishing. I can't fault the player's effort tho. MAN they were SOOOOO close in the backfield SOOOOO many times for a tackle for a loss. You can't blame Martinez for this one, it's hard to throw when you have a defender in your peripheral 30% of the time. Next game, different results. These kids didn't GIVE UP!!! GO BIG RED!!!!!
