Exactly....I find it hard to believe that Bo, or TO, or LSU WOULDN'T have checked with the NCAA just to make sure it was ok.

the knock against the pats was that they never had a REALLY GOOD offense. Tom Brady knew how to win...but geez, this year they're lighting it up--w/out Weiss. Of course, it helps to have Moss there to catch anything you throw up....but geez.

I remember reading an article that mentioned 3-4 other coaches that have done it in the past. My guess is that they figured since the NCAA didn't have an issue with them, it would be ok. Having said that, does anyone honestly think that TO, BO, and LSU would NOT consult someone with the NCAA to make sure it's ok?

He's may have a good workout, but he'll get picked apart in the psychological tests. His whining in press conferences illustrates that he doesn't have what it takes to be in the NFL.

From what I heard on the radio, he's been recruiting hard for NU...so I don't know how he'd do that at this point.

I'd like to see all the defensive senior starters play in an all-star game. It would further illustrate how inept the former coaching staff was.

I've got tremendous respect for Ron Brown, but at this point, he's been out of football for 4 years. He was a receivers coach that taught receivers how to block more than anything. I just wonder if they'd want to have him on staff. I'm also not sure of Barney Cotton. He was a decent OC...but it really is had to say if he'd be a good OC to match what Pelini wants to do with the offense.

How is it even possible under NCAA rules to be on the payroll at one school and coach another in a game? You'd think that would break so many rules.

Not if we win the big 12 and are ranked in the top 10 in a few years.

The difference between that and now would be that callahan just basically handed off the defense to coz and let him go crazy. Pellini would likely take an active role in the defense. I think it's more important that he find a good OC...and if the offense struggles, that he have the stones to fire the OC and get a new one.

And Jerry Rice played for the Niners and Raiders...maybe he'll coach the WR's....

I'm a Chicago Bear fan since 1985, when I was 12 years old. I told everyone I knew that Wanny would run Pitt into the ground like he did my beloved Bears. I couldn't believe people were actually thinking he'd be a good HC at NU. The guy is like skippy neuheisel...they've both done nothing good in their careers...yet keep getting jobs.

I think TO wants someone somewhat proven--and someone that he is familiar with. I don't think he wanted to go looking for the next Urban Meyer. Of the kids being tormented? I'm pretty sure that probably happens at any school. It isn't just NU fans that can act like idiots.

I agree....I don't know that Bo will be a 20 year guy at NU...but Turner will take over when Bo leaves for the pros.

Exactly....that's what I was thinking. Who knows? Maybe cosgrove will move down a division and be a HC...or up to the pros and be a LB coach.

I'd rather not have a couple of disgruntled assistants going out to recruit. I think they'd do more harm than good.

a few years ago at the celebration of the 1995 team he was very very late, but he was gracious to stop and sign a piece of husker memorabilia I have. He was very polite, and you could tell that he didn't want to just ignore anyone....but he had to get up to the game, as it was about to start.

Think about it: We all love NU. We think it's a 10. From the perspective of the national media, though...they remember a coach who won 9 games get fired. Then they remember us running a guy out of town after 4 seasons. They don't know all the crap that we've seen from callahan. In their mind, it's a good job...but with the program in disarray, they just think there are better jobs.
