  1. Because you haven't had enough to drink yet...beer, that is. I'll take another....just don't throw it....because I'd drop it.

  3. Passes were dropped. Period. It didn't matter who threw the ball. Take Martinez out? I don't know. When he missed his reads it ended up with a 3-4 yard loss which put us in a long situation. We all know Lee is not the better runner, but he advanced the ball. Both QB's have their strengths and weaknesses, but if you can't catch the ball when thrown to, it's going to make it a long day no matter who you have in there at QB. What we learned today? Don't start to put up your arms for a touchdown signal until the ball has crossed the goal with someone holding on to it.
  4. Congratulations to the Texas team and fans. You executed your game plan to near perfection. Although I will likely never cheer for a Texas team (with the exception of having the Rangers beat the Yankees, but then after that I will cheer for the National Leauge), hats off to you. I watched the game on television and the game was won by the team that executed. For whatever reason, you have a mental edge on us and although I still believe we have a team that is capable of playing well–you did what you needed to do to win. I hope you were treated cordially and Mack Brown said after the game that he will miss playing Nebraska in the future. I can't help but think that he will miss the almost yearly guaranteed win that always comes with plenty of excitement and anticipation. Of course, we'd like to have another shot at you in the Big XII championship game, but we showed that we probably have some things to improve on to get to that point. I hope you want the same and perhaps we'll see you again in another couple months. Good luck the rest of the way.
  5. It's not ours to win at this point, it's Texas's to lose. Ricky Thenarse got shot in the foot and his arms went numb as a result.
  6. I see us getting the ball 4 times in the second half. We need some points the first time we get the ball. A pick six wouldn't hurt either although I see Texas simply running the ball and willing to play defense.
  7. -I'm not ready to say Nebraska is a national contender. We *could* be. This is still just the third game and there is a lot we improve upon. I like to maintain the underdog status and keep working our way up. -Our offense looked great, but Washington helped us achieve that look. They missed so many tackles it was ridiculous. -We don't need to rely on our defense to win games. If the offense and defense plays steady, good things will happen. -That was pretty cool to see the TV cameras shaking for the first 10 minutes of the game and then the last 50 minutes all you could clearly hear was "Go Big Red" etc. -Our pass defense locked up Locker and it was impressive to observe. I hope we can attribute some of the longer run gains to the fact that we were so keyed up on defending the pass. -Regardless of Green's fumble, I didn't really understand why he was inserted into the game at that point. Up by two touchdowns in only the second quarter? It just didn't make sense to me although I still trust the coaches had a rational reason. -Come November, I'm going write in Mark May since he seems to know what he's talking about and would likely make a good politician
  8. Here's the deal. Yeah, we looked sloppy, very sloppy at times, but the game was never in doubt. That doesn't mean that sloppiness is good or excusable, but it can be fixed. In recent previous years we had gimme games that weren't really decided until the 4th quarter. We won them, but you let out a big sigh of relief after 60 minutes (remember Ball State?). Sloppiness can be fixed, but lack of talent cannot. We will be the better team going in against Washington. We will be the better team going against most teams. Does that mean we can't be beat? Of course not. But the problem today was mental, not physical. The physical happens in the off-season–we've taken care of that and you can see it. The mental happens during the season. Going back just a few mere years ago, we just didn't have the physical ability to be a team that was set apart. Are we at that point now? I'd like to think we are seeing glimpses of it. There's potential. Should we lose, it won't be due to lack of talent and ability, it will be due to mental breakdowns. We are getting more into the meat of the schedule where we need to be mentally ready. You need to "bring it" no matter who you are facing. Could we simply be out-coached? That could happen as well (but Bo knows the game and has TO as a mentor and so I'm not betting against him), but I liked the game plan today. Bo didn't call on his players to do the spectacular, he called on them to execute. Nebraska football is about execution. If we execute, we should win many games. The talent is there, the team is there, the coach is there. If we just "show up" in any game from this point on, we will be in danger although we could still win. But if we show up and execute each and every game, look out. We're not looking for guys to be in motion, with multiple fakes, and a six step drop back by the quarterback as we wait for things to precisely develop. We're looking for guys to make their block straight ahead, stay on their assignment and get us some yards. We're not looking for a sack every down, we're looking for guys to make the tackle when the ball is right in front of them. We're getting back to Nebraska football. So, I'm going to expect that we'll be the better team going in against Washington. Luck can change anything, but we're no longer at a point where we can just hope (try to get lucky-remember Texas FROM LAST YEAR) to win, we've got some good players and when you come in prepared for a test, usually good results happen. So, yeah I'm nervous because college football allows for just about anything to happen in any given game (just ask Virginia Tech). But by golly gee willikers, I'm pretty dang excited too. Bring it.
  9. This thread is about as stupid as the one about Pelini being too short with the media. Perhaps this even tops it. Good grief.
  10. Please ban this post and this poster. This is the most heinous comment I have ever read. It's not funny and is absolutely classless.
  11. I want to see points 100% of the time we are in the red zone. Of that 100%, I think it's a reasonable expectation to have a touchdown 75% of that time against Colorado and 60% of the time against Texas. Anything less than 100% when we're in the red zone against Texas will be quite deflating for our defense. On the flip side, consistent scoring in the red zone could be a great defensive motivator. Run, pass, kick, fumble it and have someone else run it in for you–I don't care, just get some points every time in the red zone. Is that too much to ask?
  12. I would like to see a second down with less than 10 yards to go. "That" would be an improvement on offense.
  13. I would like to see second down with less than 10 yards to go. "That" would be an improvement on offense.
  14. start Cody and we win at least 2 of the next 3. without our defense, there is no option regardless of who is quarterback Right now Green and Lee are both sleeping, or at least I hope. They're both good sleepers and I would love to see one of them wake up.
  15. I fail to see why he didn't run more. Just because you can't get 20 yds. doesn't mean you should pass up the easy 5-8 and then out of bounds. Maybe there were guys there and I just couldn't see them because of the camera angle. I believe he is relatively fast and to become more of a dual threat might open things up a bit so it is easier to throw. He's showing improvement with each game and this can only add to his confidence.
  16. First of all, I live in Missouri. It's a great state, I just happen to be a faithful Husker fan. Winning this game obviously had some extra sweetness because of that. Secondly, I know many classy Missouri fans and I live with in the midst of them. There's nobs that can certainly be found on both sides, but the number of Missouri classy fans outnumber the nobs by far. Thirdly, I thought the elements would work to our advantage and Missouri looked much more comfortable in the muck then we did. Fourthly, Blaine Gabbert showed some real guts. I think he proved that he's got some real heart to back up his talent. Would Missouri have won had he not been injured? I don't know, but he made some amazing throws for playing on nearly one leg. The call to have him take it in before the half was a great call. I'm not really much of a Pinkel fan (and my Missouri friends are not either) but nobody saw that coming (which I guess makes it a good call). Fifthly, about midway through the third quarter I was resigned that we would likely lose. Sure, we could make stops on defense, but I honestly didn't know how we would score. Ironically, a couple of plays turned the game and our defense certainly did contribute to that. Sixthly, there were a bunch of stupid penalties by both teams. Seventhly, after seeing how Missouri played against previous opponents, I didn't expect Missouri to perform as well as they did. Eighthly, I don't understand why Zac Lee didn't run when it looked like he had the opportunity to pick up five yards or more. Along with that, I don't understand why he called an audible on nearly every single play. Ninethly, I think the nation was able to see a quality football game that gave a little bit of everything–hype, weather, bonehead plays, great plays, passion, sorrow, joy, amazing athletes, good coaching, etc. Tenthly, I love college football and in particular, Nebraska. Good luck to Missouri the rest of the way. P.S. I really don't care for the ESPN commentator's regardless of which team you were rooting for. Actually I like Erin Andrews for obvious reasons.
  17. Annoying people to watch the game with (a): people who text on their phone. As a side note, people who text annoy me all the time. Annoying people to watch the game with (B): people who call you on the phone after a significant play and say "did you see that!" My response: "No Francis, I've been out in the garden picking radishes, what happened, who's playing, is there even a game today?" As a side note, I unplug my phone during the game.
  18. I'm makin' me some popcorn with extra butta. I'm grabbin me a beer or three. I love Ganz but he needs another tenth of a second I guess to throw, which would actually be double the time he has right now. I'm not overly optimistic right now because Clemson's D doesn't look like they are prone to any mental mistakes. We will need one heck of a second half. It can happen.
  19. Can we score (on offense) or is Clemson just too fast? If Ganz could have a second longer to pump fake then he could throw them off his telegraphed passes. If we don't put points on the board to start the second half, that might be it.

  21. That was quite a game. My sympathies to "TrueMizzou" and all respectable Tiger fans. Both teams had opportunities they squandered. A fun game to watch and a surprisingly defensive struggle which I didn't expect. I respect Mizzou as a team but am still having a hard time respecting Mr. Daniel, whose attitude reflects more cockiness than confidence. That catches up to people and especially in big games. OK St. appears to be the real deal. It was a good competitive game to watch.
  22. My most sincere apologies to Mr. Bo Pelini and the rest of the staff. When they did the pre-game interview and Bo gave the "We're ready to play" line, the only thing I could think of was how Clownahan would say something similar last year before another behind the wood shed thrashing. I really thought that we would be ready to play "in so far as trying to keep the score somewhat respectable" just like Clownahan did against USC a couple years ago. I saw TT's first TD and I though "here we go" but I kept watching because that what Husker fans do, for better for worse. I kept waiting for TT to pull away, and they didn't, because they couldn't. Our boys were ready not only to play, but to win. The game plan was superb. The coaching was superb. The penalties obviously hurt us at times and need to be improved upon, but that didn't lose the game. The defense still needs to not give up the big gainers, but that ultimately did not lose the game either. I have no problem with the overtime play calls. The first play was just a bit overthrown, and the second play you could argue was a poor decision on Ganz (but I'm not going that direction) but rather a ball that was thrown to nowhere which just happened to get picked. It sucked royally, but I've never felt so good about a loss as crazy as that sounds. That's how the game goes at times and the ball literally bounced TT's way today. So, Mr. Pelini, you apologized for last week and I forgive you. I hope you will forgive me for this week because I wasn't "ready" the way your team was. If we continue to play like this, only good things can happen and I would like to think this game may have greatly helped as we are turning the corner. Go Big Red.
  23. FROM ESPN ARTICLE Daniel said he took great satisfaction in the five-touchdown margin of victory. He said a Nebraska player spit on him before the game. "I'm not going to say who it was. He knows who it is. That's bush league. That's blatant disrespect," Daniel said. Daniel called Nebraska one of the "dirtiest" teams he's played. I am a lurker and barely ever post, but this just chapped me. Missouri handed it to us, I'll give them that. But this comment is totally uncalled for. It was "settled" on the field until Daniel threw this knucklehead comment in. It had absolutely nothing to do with the game. If someone does you wrong, keep it to yourself. Maybe Daniel didn't think his comment was going to be printed. Maybe he was misquoted, but it doesn't appear that way. In any arena you can always find some fan or player that does something boneheaded from Missouri to Nebraska to Tim-buk-tu. I could find more than one Missouri fan that has cussed out the Huskers and then go on to say that they have some of the "dirtiest" mouths in the league. But then they could turn around and find someone in Nebraska who would do the same thing. I watched the game last night with some very respectable Missouri fans that could have reveled in the victory much more than they did. They watched. They cheered. It was over and they played a great game without shaking any salt on it. With this public comment, I've pretty much lost all respect for Chase Daniel. If someone does a childish thing to you, don't answer it by being childish yourself–BE A MAN.
  24. Will we score? No, not this game. I mean, will we score EVER?
  25. My apologies, I had a bit of premature excitement and didn't know how to handle it.
