  1. A DB that looks where the ball is coming from!!!! (a concept we never saw here in the last few years...)
  2. Congratulations! You made 1620's Unsportsmanlike Conduct's Message Board Poster of the Day! http://www.1620thezone.com/episode_downloa...ntentId=1263204
  3. But if you did a playoff system wouldnt the season be way longer. On top of players playing alot more during the playoffs. On top of all the money lost in the bowl games. Explain your playoff system and ill see what i think from there. Ben There have been several viable playoff systems come up with by different experts. They range from an 8 team playoff system to a 16 team playoff. As far as the length of the season goes, that is a poor excuse for not having one. They already start in August and go into January, that is plenty of time to have a 10 game season, then either 3 or 4 week playoff schedule depending on how many teams are still in. The bowl system sucks for reaching a champion....there is no 3rd, 4th, etc, until the final poll comes out, which leaves it to more speculation and argument. There is no excuse for not having a playoff. As far as the bowls go, they could still either be a part of the final 2 weeks of the playoff or host teams that were knocked out but still had decent seasons. Being 6-6 is a pretty low standard for making it to a bowl game, maybe there are also too many bowls... The main reason there will never be a playoff in Div 1 is this.$$$The AD's of all the major conferences will never give up the sweetheart deals they've gotten. Until viewership goes in the tank, it will never change.
  4. I'm all for musicians getting paid for their work, but this is beginning to be a cash cow for litigation happy lawyers. I've left the links to the story below. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,319276,00.html http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2007/12/r...ding-indus.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...7122800693.html Here's the copy of the legal brief in .pdf form. http://www.ilrweb.com/viewILRPDF.asp?filen...pplementalBrief
  5. He left because he knew his touches were going to go down. Lucky was Callahan's boy and he saw the writing on the wall. Not saying it was Lucky's fault, but we all know how Callahan was about playing his boys. (See Ricky Thenarse) Not sure where youre going with the Ricky Thenarse comment (he WILL be a stud for 2 more yrs @ NU) I do believe that Lucky has the chance to be great @ NU, he just has to sell out & buy into what Bo & Watson have to say & not what his "agent" or his "boys" have to say. If Marlon stays, no doubt his draft stock will rise. But only if he buys into the program 100% I meant the quote that Thenarse made; "I hope this staff plays the best players." Thenarse played well when he was out there. Thenarse was frustrated this season because he felt Callahan's boys were getting to play instead of the best guys for that position. Not disrespecting him at all.
  6. Holy Crap! That's 10 minutes I'll never get back!

  8. I'll try to watch all the games I can, because this will be it for college football until the NU spring game. For the days when there are multiple games, I'll put the TV's on split screen so I do not miss anything.
  9. Little overstating that aren't you? Sure he had problems with Colorado but the Washington scandal was a joke. Oh my he had money on NCAA basketball tournament (Like to know who doesnt?) and won. I agree, some of the rules the NCAA come up with are a joke, but rules are rules. Running a pool, whatever it is, can be deemed against the law, because it falls into the "games of chance" area. Anyways, he won his lawsuit against WU, and received a huge settlement. Anywhere he goes, right or wrong, will be followed by R&I very closely. UCLA wanted someone from the family for the hire, so they'll have to put up with the added scrutiny.
  10. Cotton did some good things with the ISU offense. He had to start from scratch with a hoard of young guys since Walden's recruits, frankly, sucked. He opened up a run-dominated mind-set and got the passing game going (something not seen since before the Crutchfield/Davis/Davis era). He really did a good job developing talent (ie...Myers, Blythe...). Main problem with Cotton and the ISU offense was that it broke down before the season ever started. Featured runners were always going down in the non-conference games, never to be seen again, linemen were leaving with injured knees, broken ankles...whatever. At one point in 04 or 05, we were starting a reserve fullback and a DT on our offensive line at the end of the season. He wanted to set up the pass with the run but kept running out of ball carriers. The fact that they could stay competitive, let alone with a few and actually go to a few minor bowl games, with the lack of depth and talent is a pretty good testiment to Cotton. If I had any knocks on him they would be that he tends to be too conservative in his play calling (which could reflect the inexperience of the team) and I also believe that he needed to pay more attention to the strength and conditioning of his offensive squad, maybe preventing some of the early injuries Of course...the fact that ISU has the least funded football progam in the Big 12 could have had a lot to do with some of the problems Cotton and ISU had to endure too...ya think??? You'll do okay with Cotton, he's a pretty good one. I might have picked up Loney instead (available, good and cheap) but that's just me. Thanks for the info Cy. I didn't follow Cotton much after he left here.
  11. Rick Neuheisel (Bonghighsel, as I liked to refer to him when he was CU's HC) has been named Head Coach at UCLA. Talk about the headache the Bruin's Rules and Infractions Dept. is getting prepared for. I'll bet the NCAA just changed their threat level from orange to red on this hire. Good Luck Bruin Fans, really!
  12. However, Coach Cotton will have to prove himself to be worthy of his position though. I know we're talking about a team that always seems to be rebuilding in ISU, (Sorry Cy) but Cotton's numbers were less than impressive during his tenure at ISU. 2003- 17 Sacks on QB- NU 2004- 34 Sacks on QB- ISU 2005- 39 Sacks on QB- ISU 2006- 38 Sacks on QB- ISU In 2007 after his departure 17 sacks on QB were recorded.... I do not know if this was scheme, recruiting, or not having the right people to fill the positions. I do have some questions though. Cy, maybe you can help me out here. What were the folks over in Cyclone Land's take on Cotton there during his tenure? By reading the boards over there, some criticized his recruiting. I know when he was offered the job there, he came bearing gifts as in 300lb. recruit Brandon Johnson from Rushville, NE. Just like everyone else here, I'll wait till the end of next years season to pass judgment. I just had some questions that I wanted to throw out there.
  13. Here is an audio file from fastandfuriousfootball.com of Coach Pelini. (Interesting to listen to...) http://fastandfuriousfootball.com/CollegeD...U%20defense.wav
  14. I heard the student relations dept. produced a video on how to approach the fine ladies at CU. Unfortunately Jack Links stole the idea and called it "Messin' With Sasquatch."
  15. That's bull, and you know it. Absolute bull. CU and UC-Berkeley in the same sentence? I'm sorry - laughable. Anyways if they changed their name to CU-Berkeley at Boulder they'd have to let Ralphie go. (Not very PC to have a live animal in captivity as your mascot.)
  16. No, actually it was all of you who were apparently watching our team in an alternate reality for the past few years. At the beginning of the season, YOU ALL were the ones spewing the type of crap I've been spewing the last couple days, and I was the one who was saying what you're saying now. I was also taken to task when I suggested we may finish 5th in the Big XII North and...well...guess where we finished? I'll give you a hint: it wasn't 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th! And what do I get for being right? BANNED! Enjoy you're little circle-jerk over here, losers, because you've just been troll'd. Merry Christmas bitches! Since I can't search your posts made at that time, (Mods please fix) I do not know the argument you were making for the Huskers to finish 5th in the north. Now, if all you did was make a single statement and not back it up with a premise as to why, then I would think you were just another monkey flinging crap. If your statements were to wish the team ill will to get rid of Callahan, because you liked Solich or Pelini, and didn't agree with their firings, then that's just wrong. If you're a true Husker fan, you never wish they lose for personal satisfaction. I suspect you were banned because you let your little emotions get involved when others challenged or discounted your posts, as evidenced by the above. Everybody has opinions, but if you're incensed at the fact someone may disagree with your opinion, then lay out your argument to that effect. If you're still at a crossroads after you made your point, then you can just agree to disagree and move on. Simple.
  17. Huskernumerouno, Thanks and Merry Christmas to you, all our troops, and the families of soldiers serving around the world. Keep safe and God bless.
  18. Hanc, I have no problem with recruits changing their minds and going elsewhere. But I do have a problem with recruits wasting our coaching staffs time recruiting them, when they know darn well they weren't going to come here after the last staff was fired. All they had to do is say, they weren't interested anymore and then part ways. Instead of doing that, waste our recruiting time we could have had pursuing other players to fill those positions. Call me a "conspiracy nut", but I find it a little too convenient that the ones we lost to CU, chose to wait until the dead period to totally decommit, or were they told to wait till now, as a little gamesmanship by Hawkins' crew. Anyhoo, I hope they do well with their schools of choice...except when we play them.
  19. No use cowering before the mighty 5* and their bloated ego. They have made their move (by visits)-- now NU should make their move and yank his offer. Make an example of him by showing that NU will not be taken for a ride by these jokesters and no one recruit or any amount of stars will make NU beholden to these types. Knock him outa here! De-committed Nebraska and Committed to Oregon St. as of today according to his H.S. coach. Scratch this one.
  20. LINK: http://www.journalstar.com/media/view/?mid=M47621059efb78 Coach Pelini is being interviewed by Huskers Extra's Brian Christopherson, Brian Rosenthal, Steven M. Sipple, and Curt Mc Keever. Hopefully they asked some questions you wanted answers to. Enjoy Dated- 12/13/07 Running Time- 35:00
