This one HANC. 4 of my college (freshman) buds and I had gotten okay from parents to attend Orange Bowl - all we had to do was win this game. We had car (borrowed from my dad), reservations at some dive in 'Lauterdale' and the number of the UNL ticket office on a piece of paper... god, what a game to watch!!!

(let's review last year, with all the season's venom directed towards Zac Lee, stupid coaches, and his (unknown) busted up elbow, shall we?!) this is all a hoot, but like I said, I trust the coaches... if anyone is tasked with truly knowing what's best for the team, it's them. okay, that was a little snotty, but god, we're trashing this kid in this thread...

I really do trust the coaches to sort this thing out (either way)... ultimately, we're just rodeo clowns.

Good thoughts HANC, I would add that the couple of years when OU guys would come up from our same house in the 80's we always had a great time showing them the town, and they just loved the upside-down margaritas and the original side track (where the college kids had to 'steal it' from the bikers every week on Friday afternoon), sandwiches and schlitz from the caboose, and a bunch of other things i can't remember (!) It was a blast... they were our favorite visitors (it was a drunk mutual-respect society).

We just have to make that CCG game, so this thing goes down in GIANT FLAMES. (either way it ends up!?)

We talked about the lack of holding calls last year as well. Excluding our Sun Belt games, our opponents had 366 pass attempts last year and were called for holding our D Line, which included Ndamukong Suh, 11 times. This included ZERO holding calls against VA Tech, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arizona. In contrast, Nebraska had 252 pass attempts and was flagged for holding 13 times. It's not just this year that this is happening, but there are DEFINITELY a lack of holding calls against our D Line. And there are ripped/shredded jerseys to attest to the fact that our guys are being held. Whattayagonnado? Our players seem to pretty much be taking this in stride during the game. Do you think the coaches are using it as a motivational tool? "Okay guys, over/unders on how many screwed calls we gotta overcome this week?!"

my two cents… I will tell ya guys, this is nothing new. There are berserk games, to be sure. Always have been. In the 80’s, the stadium shook for Oklahoma, UCLA, and whoever the latest Big-8-pretender was that year… But on the whole, Nebraska has always been a fairly workmanlike place when the game is in hand. I remember some coach (can’t remember who?) describing the Huskers like business men, who would show up, open their briefcases, proceed to kick you’re a$$, and then pack up and go home. Wasn’t TO famous for telling his guys to “act like you’ve been there before”? In the early 80’s, as a college student, I remember going to a game in ‘The Swamp’ in Gainsville… it was Western Kentucky, or somebody like that. I remember thinking at the time, “How the hell can these guys stay completely nuts over every little thing, in a game that was never in doubt, and didn’t mean a thing?” To me, it smacked of ‘bush league’, compared to my Husker home… I like berserk as much as the next guy… Henry’s 57 yarder against CU will always rank as one of my favorite few seconds in this life, but c’mon, all games are not all the same. It should be about real emotion – not a manufactured event.

Like months ya think? I'm thinking the project will have to really start taking shape soon after the first of the year - at least its essential elements. I've heard the design time is 'extremely' constricted.

I wish they'd quit blasting that 'greatest fans' line over the lousy sound system at games - just doesn't feel right, every time I hear it. (It's like somebody bragging about how humble they are).

University is just wrapping up formal selection of the design team. Should see something developing soon - very tight time frame for design & construction.
