  1. Agreed. Lee had it when it counted.
  2. I heard Bo has the flu and he called in sick for the game. You think he could show up and maybe sit down during most of the game. This is disappointing.
  3. Get rid of the skyboxes. They are elitist and un-American, an least un-Nebraskan.
  4. Whatever, I'm questioning my entire life up until this point. This loss changes EVERYTHING. I'm quitting my job and we should fire all of the coaches. AAAHHHHGGGG. OK, I feel better, I agree with your post.
  5. Please keep it down, they are trying to nap.
  6. I'm glad the B****** movement is now consider a complete joke! Seriously, let's have more of a "red out." I can't stand it when people wear grey husker shirts or even black shirts. Wear a red shirt to the game or give your ticket to someone who can.
  7. Is it fair to say that Osborne might be directly responsible for all 5 of the national championships? In other words, had Osborne not been on Devaney's staff, Devaney may not have won those national championships. I often think about this in light of our current expectations and the future of the program. Osborne is truly a hard act to follow.
  8. My ongoing research discloses the following: Reeves at a Husker game. He has a hat in his right hand - probably a USC hat? /I can't wait for the season to start.
  9. Reeves wearing Husker hat - click for picture Is it now trendy in Hollywood to wear husker gear? Any other celebrity/famous Husker fans? Besides the obvious: Larry the Cable Guy Warren Buffett Clarence Thomas
  10. I'm just glad that we have Memorial Stadium around after all these years. Despite its faults, I wouldn't have it any other way. The character and history cannot be matched. Many other stadiums of similar stature have not been so lucky. Look how fast Rosenblatt went from being the beautiful stadium on the hill to a piece of junk we had to get rid off. Doesn't matter what side of that argument you are on, the point is that once the powers that be decide its got to go . . . it is as good as gone. Hopefully, they will continue the upgrades for decades to come and keep the old stadium in the middle of campus.
  11. I go to huskerpedia's front page. I love the summaries and links to every Husker related article and the quick reference to the schedule and count down to game time. For discussions, I come here. No thanks, I'm not paying for a discussion board. This site is great. My only complaint is the giant personalized pictures everyone has at the end of their post, clutters up the discussions. If this site could do a real nice quick summary front page similar to huskerpedia's, I could quit going there completely. //oh, and there is no husker news right now so I just want to get things going by saying if Bo doesn't win a national championship next year he and Osborne should be fired.
  12. Great for him, he is certainly deserving. But, shouldn't Tommy Frazier get in first? Don't many consider him one of the greatest college football players ever? And, why does Grant get in ahead of Alberts or Shields?
  13. His press release seems pretty classy assuming he is sincere. This is a huge step up for him there is no comparing the opportunities Yale offers versus UNL. A Yale degree versus playing football for UNL - Yale wins every time. Good for him.
  14. Was that the Shrine Dinner last week? No, small town dinner during the season.
  15. Mr. Ekeler spoke at a Husker dinner I attended. I'll guaranty that Mike Ekeler's biggest fan is Mike Ekeler. He has plenty of stories about Mike Ekeler, how full of energy Mike Ekeler is, how funny he is, how crazy he is etc etc. Don't know about his coaching abilities - but Mike Ekeler is the happiest person in Nebraska to have Mike Ekeler on the coaching staff. Good for him either way, best of luck.
  16. No hate for Cosgrove, he seemed like a nice enough guy. But, he was making about $206,000 a year living in Lincoln. He should have saved some money at that salary for his family. Another overpaid coach.
  17. Nobody would listen if these guys didn't create controversy out of nothing. This bowl game has produced no story lines that cause people to call in to their show. Even the boards have been a little slow. You can bet that they have entire planning meetings devoted to finding stupid issues to get people pissed off. They have to find something to talk about for 4+ hours every day. So they create problems where there are none. (Kind of like the mafia - create a problem, solve a problem) That is why Matt and Trav and every other radio host have such obviously manufactured and illogical opinions on some topics. If you can understand and accept that fact, they are much easier to listen to . . . barely.
  18. Great link, thanks, I missed the original broadcast. I think everyone finally feels the excitement and fun returning to Husker football.
  19. Frazier is one of the best college players ever. Not just the best Husker QB.
  20. 1. Move the students back to the front row. The team is a college team and it is ridiculous to move the students so far away. They are integral to the purpose and spirit of the game. 2. As far as ticket prices, how much do they pay in tuition these days? How much money do most of them have? I don't think veiled threats to increase prices and take away seats is the proper response. 3. Perhaps some students moved into seats vacated by the older fans. Who is to say it was students who left?
  21. My first Husker game too and I rushed the field. I remember it being rainy and cold. Marched straight out of the stadium with the goal post and up to O Street. The police not only blocked the traffic for the "mob" - they were cheering right along with everyone. I remember carrying the post right over cars stuck in traffic. People were hanging out of building windows and parking garages cheering. Great first game to attend. I wish I had a hack saw to get a piece of the goal post like a few people did.
  22. Black out is a total joke. Whoever said just get everyone to wear red instead of gray etc. Georgia did a b******* and that seemed to work pretty well. Jim Rome had a funny comment about Georgia. He said he was surprised that Alabama even stayed to play with the entire crowd wearing such a scary color like black etc etc.
  23. Something to talk about (or not) during this downtime and cold weather. I think a cool tradition would be to plant, near or inside (somewhere) the stadium some rows of corn. Seeds could be planted by alumni, captains, seniors, or some other similar vip or notable husker. They could be planted in some area with marble/stone boundaries with some poetic/inspiring script on it. Maybe in the same architectural style as the capitol building. Dirt could be brought in from all over the state. Good opportunity for symbolism. They could even use the corn seeds in some fashion during spring practice or winter training representing number of hours worked, records broken or some other symbolic deal. By fall, the corn would be ready to "harvest" but could serve as a focal point of sorts for rally's, pregames and even TV shots. This could be used as a get back to "old school" Nebraska values and traditions stemming from the agrarian nature of the state. In this (Pederson) corporate culture, we seem to want to distance ourselves from anything that seems too Nebraska. I agree we need to foster a modern progressive image for the state. I agree we need to do away with some of the "hick" aspects of our image. On the other hand, corn is at the heart of our name and our state. The corn motif is all over our capitol and civic buildings and that is done in very classy fashion. Let me know your thoughts or if they already have this somewhere.
  24. He's right, we are screwed, in hindsight Osborne was horrible. Having 10 high school kids decide to go somewhere else signals that Pelini was a bad hire. I'm burning all of my husker stuff right now. I'm glad I see the light.
  25. Was Kuli the kid that committed because of Osborne? These recruits were probably promised the world by the "car salesman" staff we had, Peleni is probably honest with them and they can't take it. They want to be guaranteed starting jobs and told they are the best little snowflakes that have ever played football. This is all to be expected in my opinion.
