  1. 100% agree. Everything in football starts on the lines. I can't remember the last time Nebraska had a solid o-line. I just keep hoping that "this will be the year," but I have been hoping for about a decade now.
  2. That's because it is. It's just my opinion from what I have seen. To answer your questions: One example of simple would have been Farniok blocking the DE/OLB, instead of a tight end coming across the formation to block, and Farniok sliding left. We don't know it's specifically a problem, and I wouldn't know about the communication on the line. It appeared every one was trying to do what they were supposed to on that last play, but Hoppes just couldn't execute. So, I would guess communication on that last play appeared to be okay. I personally felt Cav should have been dumped with Reed and Banker last year, but again, that's just my opinion. The o-line performed average last Saturday. Just as the article says. Hopefully they can take some steps forward in the games to come.
  3. I think average is a pretty good description for how the o-line played. Some good, some bad. I'm not sure the blocking schemes are helping their cause. As was stated above, with many of the blocking schemes, there is zero margin for error. How would the group look and perform if things were simplified?
  4. There are numerous rumblings of a player being injured. Anyone know specifics?
  5. People here realize that they actually are not responsible for paying any of the coaches, including the defensive coordinator, right? Why are some so nervous about the amount we might offer the new d-coordinator?
  6. Maybe he is realizing that certain coaches around him are good people, but not good coaches and wants to shake things up? He would never say this, but hey, this is, according to him, his last stop. Maybe he wants to try everything he can to win big. I know I would. Let's just hope he follows it up with a great hire.
  7. I'm not familiar with what he specifically did. Was he involved in creating all the recruiting art, images, etc?
  8. Now follow it up with a great hire
  9. This team's rebounding will definitely take a hit.
  10. He's out indefinitely with an injured right foot. Not good news.
  11. On paper this looks really good. Good length, good skill level, but does anyone know his health status? Heard anything?
  12. Having a differing opinion doesn't mean you care more than someone else, or are a "real" fan.
  13. And getting a money QB. And a killer D I would take every one of their d-linemen in a heartbeat. Probably most of their linebackers too.
  14. There's a significant, and unfortunately tremendously vocal, portion of the fan base who do nothing but bitch. They bitch about the recruits we didn't get, they bitch about the coaches we didn't hire, they bitch about the coaches we did hire, they bitch about the games we lose, they bitch about the games we didn't win well enough, they bitch when the backups don't play enough, they bitch about the administration, they bitch about the conference we're in, they bitch about the conference we left, they bitch about the other conferences, they bitch about the uniforms, they bitch about the press, they bitch about the coaches who used to coach here, they bitch about... everything. Constantly. And they don't see a problem with it, or that it's weird to do nothing but bitch that their expectations aren't met. Agree.....I just don't see the enjoyment in that. Then I would suggest you not do it. I guess I'm not sure why everyone thinks I'm so miserable just because I don't like the coaches. I personally love getting together with friends to watch every game and root for the Huskers. Once the game is over, I make sure to avoid this place and go about my day.
  15. It is. I'm losing sleep. My hair is falling out. I'm not eating well. I have these enormous headaches where I almost black out. Well, I mean, these things might happen if I based my life and purpose of being on this planet on sports and how my sports teams are doing.
  16. Not 20182019!? Question.... What do you enjoy about following a sports team? Answer: winning. You? OK...we won more than we lost this year. So...I'm assuming you mean winning championships. All of us would love to have multiple championships over the last 15 years. But, you do realize that's a rare thing right? So, are you able to actually enjoy a sports team in years where then win more than they lose even though they don't win a championship? Is it a rare thing to win in a division that has teams less talented than you? I enjoy seeing progress. I haven't seen much on the field or in recruiting. On the field, the Huskers won more against the teams they had no business losing to last year. I'm not sure this is really a ringing endorsement of progress though. They then got blown out by Ohio St and Iowa (Iowa being a team that is far less talented than Nebraska), looked bad against Tennessee, and finished 2-4. Recruiting will probably be in line with Nebraska's average the last few years. Not horrible, but nothing that will help to win championships. I guess I'm just not overly enthused about this staff. There are definitely some good position coaches, but the two coordinators don't impress me at all. I think I have more hope with Langsdorf, but Banker is horrible. This defense will never be good as long as he is coordinator here.

  18. Going to need to recruit and develop players a lot better to awaken. It didn't happen with the last staff, and it isn't looking too promising with the current staff.
  19. Nine wins. Wooooooooooooooo! Next year is the year, until it's not. Then it'll be 2018.
