  1. He also never honored the Husker Tradition. He was willing to accept losing seasons to "build his system" rather than work with what he had. Even Osborne knew that he could never do that. Nor was Callahan willing to encourage walk ons, or build 4-5 year players. He seemed to prefer the juco transfers more. Where have you been the last 4 years?
  2. And Callahan was good for the program? Get real, he was not the right coach for NU.
  3. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years, Go Big RED to both.
  4. Have you ever thought of changing it by creating a new one? Maybe one less tied to the past?
  5. What is your source? The email I just received from the Athletic Department: Text: Thanks. Since I had not yet seen it on the news channels, did not know where you were getting your info from. (You need to source statements so we know they are not rumors).
  6. Maybe on the old version (2007) of the Blackshirts. Watch out for the 2008 and future Blackshirts. The "Bones" will have more meaning next year and beyond.
  7. I wouldn't risk it if I were you. Ya got that right.
  8. I do not consider you unworthy just because you do not like Runzas. But then, I don't like them either, and I do not feel unworthy.
  9. It would be foolish to leave when he has a chance to increase his value by having a stellar year with a new coach.
  10. I thought Nutt resigned when the Ole Miss job opened up. I don't remember hearing he was fired.
  11. My bet would be that any of the old traditions that went by the wayside in the BC era may be brought back. Since I have never been to any live games, not sure what that might be. The only tradition I can't wait to see restored is the strong, knows how to tackle, defense.
  12. Are you going to sell these? Or have you contacted one of the Husker shops? Would love to have one if the price is reasonable.
  13. He specifically stated that he was keeping the same OC (in so many words), I don't recall the exact words, though I posted them somewhere else, but it was basically to the effect of giving Watson the ability to add his own wrinkles to the spread offense. Trying to recall the entire set of questions, but it was over four hours ago... Started, as I recall with a general "Why didn't Callahan fit at Nebraska" type question, which Bo deflected a bit, talked about his time there, the tradition of Devaney, Osborne, and Solich. Commented on how he appreciated the tradition, and expects nothing less of his teams than those coaches did of theirs. They talked about how Pelini and Stoops are both from Ohio State, and have known each other a long time, and Rome asked Pelini if he could turn Nebraska around like Stoops turned OU around. Pelini responded that Nebraska was fairly sound on offense, but needed to turn things around on defense, and he though he could make that happen. Rome said something about a friend of his being a big Nebraska fan, and expecting the 2009 OU-NU matchup in Lincoln to be a meeting between two top 10 teams, and he asked Bo if he felt that was realistic. Bo hedged a bit, but recommended strongly that Rome buy a ticket, because it should be a heck of a game. They also talked about Pelini coaching LSU in the NC game, and Pelini said that he thought he owed it to the players at LSU to finish the job he started, and that he was encouraged to do so by TO. Bo stated that he didn't expect it to affect NU at all since he wouldn't start prepping the LSU team until the recruiting lull had started. Other comments that Bo made were to the effect that he hadn't had a good opportunity to review the talent that exists on the team (which would make recruiting difficult if you ask me???), but that he generally felt that there was a lot of talent on the team. His main focus would be teaching the team not to tolerate losing, to play good sound defense, and let the games take care of themselves. Would someone who listened please confirm this is accurate -- it's the best I can do on a 4 hour old memory. Edit: By the way, I know I have things out of order -- for example the "friend that's a Nebraska fan" stuff closed the interview... but I think I got most of the meat of the interview. Excellent recap...That's the way I recall it too. I'm pumped...and Bo came off sounding a lot more confident than his introductory press conference in Lincoln. So what happened here? When I wrote this post and viewed it, I thought it was the third post in the list -- now it's 30-somethingth.... I think a couple of threads about the Rome interview got combined. Thanks for the recap for those of us who could not listen to the interview.
  14. So we have to wait for FOUR MORE WEEKS to find out who they think the top two college players are? This will be unbearable! ! ! ! ! ! And chances are it will not be a Nebraskan.
  15. Ronnell is the third Grixby to want to go to NU. He is all-state in Football, on the state champ team. He was on the state champ basketball team last year. It was during the basketball season that he got in trouble with his bb coach, and was suspended for his attitude. From what a friend of mine (who's son is at Central) has said, he has calmed down and developed a better attitude. I know that his football coach had no problem with his attitude this season. Give the kid back his scholarship, right the wrong done to him by BC. Or we risk another school coming in with a scholarship offer for him.
  16. About Ronnell, that is so wrong. He had a scholarship, and BC pulled it because he thought he was too arrogant. It should be reinstated. If not, we may lose him to another college that realizes how good he is. I have heard that both of his older brothers are upset over what has happened. Restoring the order includes recognizing that some of the things BC did to legacy players was out of spite. Why would you pull a scholarship from an ALL STATE player unless you are being spiteful? means restore the scholarship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Where are they being sold from? What do they cost? Have they been ok'd by NU? The last question is because I have an old "Grateful Red" t-shirt from the first NC game in the 90's. It was not ok, and the person who made them got in trouble because he was selling unauthorized NU gear. (Course he also got in trouble from the Grateful Dead)
  18. I respect: Oklahoma Kansas Texas A&M I do not respect: K-State ISU Okie State I LOVE Nebraska.
  19. I hope Tom never learns how the voting was manipulated. How was the poll manipulated? Anyone who thinks an internet poll is scientific is sadly mistaken. It is a popularity poll where the person who gets the word out (or their supporters) wins. TO's supporters got the word out better than any one else, he won.
