  1. You mean the baseball team isn't going to win 45 games? Consider me shocked. The team will get better, but they won't meet your expectations this year.. We're young, give em time.
  2. Gumbercules... I agree the Big Ten is bad top to bottom, you will not see me argue that point at all. I just think when compared to us right now, they aren't that bad. I by no means expect us to go in and win it. As far as your comment about not being happy with the hire of Erstad, neither was I, not in the smallest bit. I remember sitting in my room listening to the press conference and being pissed off because how fried I was at the hire. However, the hire of Bolt as an assistant appeased me. Granted it was Texarkana, I really like Bolt.. Not because he was a former player but he seems to have the right mentality. The fact that it's his alma mater just gives hope that he'll stay...While I am not sure that it will happen, I would love to see Erstad just heading the program to get Bolt a little more experience. This does NOT mean that I'm writing off this season or this era by any means, just how I want to see it. As far as the "pass" that is given, I don't know how I would look at that. Some people made the argument that Anderson was that bad that he was consistently losing with talent. Some think he just couldn't get the talent here. Depending on how you look at it depends on what kind of "pass" you give him I guess. I think that we have the ability to win in the next couple of years. As long as we aren't decimated by the draft, we have a relatively young team that could develop well. If they continue to grow this year, it could be exciting to watch them play next year.
  3. Based solely on the pbp feelings? Or are you watching it somehow? kinda both.... my cuz is at the game and he said he thought it was fair fair enough, sounds good to me.... we really could use to blow this open here.
  4. Based solely on the pbp feelings? Or are you watching it somehow?
  5. I'm not giving up yet, because the Big Ten is just that bad, but I've been against the Erstad hiring from day one. I hope he proves to be a better coach than I think he will. Don't tell Michigan St and Minnesota how bad the Big Ten is supposed to be.....both had solid wins today.
  6. No Purdue? Purdue is one of the favorites to win the entire conference... Now, tell me when the last time that the Big Ten was a host for baseball, who it was, and what seed they were. Sorry, with our schedule our way into the tournament is to win the Big 10 or nearly run the table out of conference. Realize, the Big Ten was the 16th best conference. SIXTEENTH. That is not the recipe for an at-large birth. Again, I hope I'm wrong on this, but I really don't think we will host this year. I do think the Big Ten gives us a better chance to host with a mediocre team, just not this year. I still think we can't lose 10 and host, just my opinion. I mean, it depends where those losses come, I just see some of them being "bad" losses, simply because a lot of our losses will be bad based solely on the bad schedule.
  7. At best, I think we win 2 this weekend. There is one loss. I think we lose 1 in both Corpus Christi and 1 in Minneapolis, that adds up to 3. Split with Cal, 5 and 3-1 vs La Tech, that's 6. With only those 6 losses, that includes 2 wins at Gonzaga, a win vs KSU and a 2-game sweep of Northern Colorado. I understand, those may not be "bold" predictions by any stretch of the imagination, just how I see them falling. We will NOT host a regional unless we win we win 46.
  8. Bucky, you and the rest of the Wisconsinites (is that a word?) are welcome to join Husker Nation in rooting for the Big Red in Big 10 baseball... Not suggesting you jump on the husker bandwagon in sports the Wisconsin Red games in but lets be honest, Red is Red and by any definition, hard to ignore. So.. come on Whisky red, join the Husker red baseball bandwagon!! As for the husker baseball season. When I reflect back on the optimism that existed at the start of last season I find myself asking why their should be less this season. The truth as I see it, the sker's are better conditioned with a better pitching coach, a returning former sker's defensive stud now coaching his philosophies to our young studs and a head coach that can light a fire under the seat of even the strongest of skeptics. I see the sker's winning no less then 44 games this year. I see Erstad as being the Big's coach of the year. I see Silva staying for 3 years at most as the sker's program is his final stepping stone to a head coaching position and before his departure, I see him as becoming the biggest factor in rejuvenating a pitching staff that has talent but lacked confidence. I dare anyone to tell me why my projections are to high. Why? Given the schedule Erstad inherited (one that he isn't at all happy with) the new attitude that is rather obvious through interviews the media has shared the leaving it all on the field competition that has chased a couple players (ex: Logan) the coaching staff's records at every location they've coached and finally, this years motto "back to the ballpark" I am totally amped for the season and find myself begging for more media insight. Seriously can't understand why the media hasn't taken this opportunity to gain more readers, viewers, followers? Huskers will rule 2012 and our former sker's (now coaches, all of them) homecoming will be a huge success. No less than 44.....really? Explain PLEASE. Unless you are counting post-season play, I have no idea where you are getting this number.. The UNK game does not count as a win. That puts us at 55 games in the regular season. While we are not playing a tough schedule by any stretch of the imagination, 44-11 is a number that is going to be really hard to reach in the first year of a new regime in a new conference. I see us as having at least 6 losses before we even start conference play. Do you really think we lose 5 or less in conference? While I agree that Silva is a WAY better pitching coach and that Bolt will be helpful. While Erstad has the right "mentality" it simply isn't enough to win that many games the way I see it. Hopefully I'm wrong and you're right, I'd love to say that come May, just don't really see it happening.
  9. A little low I would agree.. I don't think we are going to come in and absolutely run the conference over, but I think 4th is low.. 2nd, maybe 3rd in the regular season, depending how quickly we adapt.
  10. Agreed. Illinois, Michigan State, and IIRC Michigan all may give us fits this year. However, I still think our non-con schedule is more daunting than our Big 10 schedule. If we get through that unscathed... I agree that our non-con is a little more tough than the Big Ten sched.. Unless the Big Ten grows a few baseball powerhouses, we better start making the non-con harder. 2 of 3 from Cal is almost a must.. and Cal will not be as good this year as last.
  11. Echo my feelings. The Big Ten is a one bid conference in baseball, just like the 16th best conferences in basketball is a 1 bid conference. Unless we lose <8 games all year and somehow don't win the autobid, we won't be getting an at-large. The one benefit that the Big Ten does give us is the northern feel. The NCAA always wants to try and put at least 1 regional up north (hence how St Johns and Michigan have hosted as a 2 seed) and Nebraska can now fit that "northern" role for the NCAA and a solid resume could result in a regional here in Lincoln.
  12. Sorry, I lied. Just had to log in. While I think that we will succeed in the Big Ten compared to where we would be in the Big 12, it isn't going to be nearly the cake walk that everyone seems to think that it will be.
  13. Just to add, Sorenson was really, really high on Nebraska last year also. Kendall Rogers has NU at 90th in the nation in his breakdown this year (http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=6538). There is a full preview of the team, but I'm pretty sure you have to pay for that content.
  14. Uh, ya... why would that make it untrue this year? We play the same teams. Because we trade trips to Wisconsin, Penn St, and Michigan for OSU, Michigan St, and Iowa.... Obivously it's never going to be a cakewalk, but you have to go and win somewhere at some point....
  15. no idea why, but i am laughing at this quite well. maybe it's just that time of the night. lol thank you anyways.
  16. We face the roughest possible Big Ten schedule again? I thougt that was what everyone said about 2011....
  17. lol love this... People BITCH about LARRY for calling the K-State Vball game for being "overly enthusiastic" about the volleyball game when K-State won. They said that it's BS that an announcer for Nebraska has that much enthusiasm for a team that isn't Nebraska, even though it's a broadcast and someones being unbiased. Next, people get mad because someone refers to Nebraska as "we..." Can't make everyone happy. Finally, NET doesn't ever do basketball. It's not like they're a crew that is used to calling basketball. Larry usually does PBP for Volleyball (usually fantastic) and sideline stuff for baseball and the HS football stuff. Kugler usually does the PBP for everything else, but with the gig with Westwood, it's a little tougher for him to be available. Give them a break until they actually get used to calling basketball. Then again, if you think you'd be so awesome at PBP, you should feel free to send in your own tapes and get the job.
  18. In addition to being a coaches kid, I think part of the reason was Kyler Reed. How many long TD passes did Reed catch in 2010? Fans--admittedly myself included--didn't appreciate what B-Cotton would add to our offense. Last year anyway. And really my biggest dig on Cotton was that he should have come to NU as a walk-on and earn his scholie. Like Austin Cassidy did, another coach's kid. He was committed to Louisville though.. does he even come without a scholly offer? It's not like the kid doesn't know what people say about his father. Why take the risk of coming here as a walk-on, his dad getting fired and never getting the opportunity to get a scholly? Just a thought....
  19. Inside info he can't release yet he is releasing? I never really thought Stoops was coming here, but I don't see how this means he isn't... Remember, Texas is going to the Pac 12? Or further back, Childress is going to be announced our Head Baseball coach? Lots of "stories" break, but aren't true...
  20. IF we play SoCar, will every thread be taken over by Tiger/GameCOCKS bickering like when we played Clemson? by the way things are going so far, yes.
  21. Try 1003............. Time Warner doesn't have 1003... no HD for KMTV....
