  1. Ah, the smell of sweet, sweet victory. OK, someone hurry up and lock this thread!
  2. I third that. I sit in the North endzone during the season so sound is not problem, but for the Spring game I sat at the 50 on the east side and it was horrible!! I could not believe how bad it was. Why wouldn't they put a speaker by each of the screens in the Southeast and SW corners to get the stadium surrounded in? I just don't get it. Of all that has been done with the stadium I would think something like this would be plenty feasible cost wise.
  3. It seems the majority of our recruits that we are going after both USC and UCLA are right there on our hip. That's just because Slick Rick and Lame(Sorry Monte, but your kid's a douchebag) Kiffin just wait for us to scout and find players and offer them. So, when we offer them Slick and Lame know they're good so they go ahead and offer and start recruiting them too.
  4. I know alot of people are worried about Texas recruiting if we would move to the Big 10. Now, I know as far as parents go they would have to travel further to watch kids play. But, one thing big time recruits and their parents would get informed about is exposure! The Big 10 has a great TV contract and they have their own network. The exposure for kids playing football would be much better. The Big 12 is sooooooo far behind in TV and multimedia exposure it's embarrassing. You'd think the big cats with all the money in Texas could get something figured out. Anyway, I heard an interview with Commish "Dick" Beebe on Sports nightly last week and he is out of it. He has no idea what is going on, and his conference is going to get picked apart team by team. I can't wait to see Beebe in tears. He has been a crap Commish and has done nothing to move the Big 12 forward even with all the things and money available to him to do it. He's been so worried about sucking butt of all the big money in Texas, he lost track of what was important to running a conference. I'm so sick of Texas and the southern bias in the Big 12 I think moving conferences is the best option. Also, don't forget T.O. was NEVER in favor of the formation of the Big 12 because he was worried about southern bias in the conference, and I think it was one reason he decided to retire when he did. T.O. will listen if the Big 10 calls, and I'd say he will listen intently.
  5. i think aaron will end up at nebraska... but waiting it out only makes you wonder.. soudns like he loves it and everything is a go... but he wants to wait to signing day.. the reason?? i am not sure.. but i am positive someone on here will fill me in..... He might just be saying that to keep people off his back. Also, a big time talent like him will probably take quite a bit of gruff if he leaves the state of Texas already having a Texas offer in hand. Did Texas recruit his brother Andrew? If not, then I say to the people that give him gruff maybe they should have recruited his brother and maybe then he wouldn't be leaving. This is of course if he does actully decide to be N.
  6. Well, if we did actually just offer him I can only think of one reason. I would say it's more of a ploy. I don't think our coaches think we can get him, but believe me, schools are sitting up and taking notice that we are out there and big time recruits are starting to not only look at Nebraska but actually calling our coaches. We are definitely a hot team, an up and comer with great coaches, coaches that can coach you to the NFL. So, if we did offer Malcolm I feel it's a little ploy towards Texas and Aaron Green possbily. We offer a big time RB like Malcolm and Texas takes notice and pushes harder to get him to commit early and also Aaron looks at it and says, Oh no I might want to give my verbal to Nebraska earlier than maybe I wanted so they will stop recruiting big time RB's. Also, if Malcolm commits to Texas then Nebraska can kind of rule out Texas as a place where Aaron is gonna go.

Also listened to him on The Herd today with Bradford!
  8. I was at the game Saturday and noticed something right away of which I don't ever remember seeing before. I noticed it right when the tunnel walk was happening. Alot of players were coming out and flashing a "W" by putting thumbs together and extending index fingers. Niles Paul I saw do this a few times, even during the game after a catch. Does anyone have an idea what it means??
  9. I'd say more he knows how much his endorsement deals are.
  10. What did he weigh last season? Huskers.com has him listed at 215. Good god. He may kill somebody on the field this year. I hope he doesn't kill one of our guys during practice or the spring game this year. And I can't believe he was only 215 last year. I saw him a few times and he was more than 215.
  11. Wanted to go but have family obligations.
  12. Isn't the real question, "Who gets ushers they don't know at all for their wedding?" I have never heard of this ever, and if my mom volunteered me to do something like this without asking me first(which if she ever did I would be in awe), I would be irate. I don't go to weddings of people I don't know let alone be an usher for one.
  13. I'm a huge heels fan too. They are finally competing this year. I hardly watched them this year, because when I saw them early in the year and early in ACC play I was absolutely disgusted. Throwing the ball away and they just acted like they didn't want to compete hard. I did decide to watch them play in the NIT and it's been a good surprise. I think Roy finally got through to them, but they are finally competing and thinking. Drew is finally taking care of the ball better and they are diving and fighting for the ball. I hope Henson can put on some weight this off season, because if he does he will be tough. He is so long and athletic. Here's to Harrison Barnes staying more than one year!!
  14. I want to start with a disclaimer first: Always remember I hate Duke! I hate Duke and everything about them and I will never in any situation root or pull for Duke. Go Heels!! Now with that being said, the Nebraska women are alot like Duke. Alot of good players with one, maybe two above average, but in no way is their team athletically comparable to other elite teams. However, they can execute and make plays, and they can play team defense well. These things even out the lower athleticism compared to other elite teams that rely heavily on players making plays, not the team making plays. Now with that being said and giving Duke even a little respect, I have to quickly run to the porcelain to lose my breakfast.
  15. Ya, I know they're still building. I'm just trying to be overly optimistic. I should have stated I was being sarcastic when writing my topic name to an extent. I am excited about the Bears spending some money however and at least trying to get better. I will be very happy if they can get a veteran #1 WR, some O-line help, and some safety help to solidify the roster. Here's to hoping.
  16. The very worst team in Div 1 men's bball would take the UCONN women and any WNBA team. You're not Div. 1 if you don't have some decent talent. Now if you got into the very worst of the NAIA divison maybe, but still I'm not sure. I know alot of men's town teams that would beat up on UCONN and WNBA teams just completely secondary to athleticism. Can women shoot, yes. Can they get open to shoot against men? That's another story.
  17. Ya, I forgot about the O-line. However, they will help themselves in the draft, all be it their first pick isn't until the 3rd round. But I think they can definitely get some solid help for the line and the defensive backfield deeper in the draft, but I also think they will still be looking around over the spring and summer for some veterans they can bring in at these positions as well. I'm just giddy to actually seeing them spending some money for once. It's hard being a Cubs and Bears fan with them being very, very frugal teams.
  18. Whoever thinks the UCONN or any other women's basketball teams, including the WNBA, could be competitive against a Div. 1 mens basketball team, or even an NAIA men's basketball team is ridiculous!! The athleticism is just way too different between men and women. Can women compete against men? Sure, and a 3 year old can compete against Usain Bolt in the 100 too. Will the 3 year old be competitive in that 100m? No! Now don't get me wrong, could the good women's college basketball and WNBA team compete against lower skilled NAIA teams, probably. I do think they could be competitive in these games. But, I'd be surprised if you could find one Div. 1 men's bball team those women's teams could be competitive against. And, let's say by competitive I mean keep it within 20 points. It's not if they can or can't make baskets, because they can if they are uncovered. The problem comes when the men decide to guard man to man and put pressure on and off the ball the entire game. It would become turnover city, the ladies just don't have the athleticism to get away from tight defense.
  19. Is Doc a great recruiter?? I don't think he has proven anything close to that. However, I will give him one thing that he got screwed by the University's admissions on, we had Robert Sallie here!! He wanted to come play here! He would be the man, the scorer we need right now if it wasn't for admissions screwing up his transcripts. So, given that, you kind of have to give Doc a little break for a couple years to see if he can get a guy like Sallie to come here.
  20. I am actually excited for the coming NFL year now!! Julius Peppers, Chester Taylor! Get a good WR and some saftey help and we'll be holding the Lomabardi next year!!
  21. You say the football style played in the Big 10 is not conducive to winning national Championships, but really who cares what kind of style other teams in the Big 10 play, we will bring our style, and I feel our style with great defense and soon to be multiple look offense can definitely win MNCs. If anything, the Big 10 style of football gives us a better chance to win and when we start beating up on everyone they will change philosophies to catch up and actually we will end up bringing the Big 10 into the new age of football, and they will have Nebraska to thank for it when they can finally compete with high caliber college football teams.
  22. See these two topics: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/39813-leaving-this-conference/page__p__537229__fromsearch__1entry537229 http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/40152-what-are-we-wanting-out-of-the-university-of-texas-and-big-12/
  23. That may be true now, but I think with the new research park being built that will soon not be the case and actually UNL will probably become a major player in research in the country as far as colleges are concerned.
