  1. Why don't we help out the O-line then. Let's do a little straight ahead running with some helmet on helmet blocking. No thinking involved, just kill the guy in front of you. Let's get them good and aggressive early on and let them pound the D-line across from them. This will tire out them and hopefully give our line some confidence. I've heard people say our O-line is athletic but I don't see it. They do not move their feet well enough to pass block for long periods of time or to do alot of zone blocking. To me, they look more built to go straight ahead and pound on their guy. I don't remember for sure, but in the VTech game didn't we do alot of handoff runs and not so much of the zone read runs? I would have to look back for sure but I think we did. I feel Helu is our best offensive player. Why not do some sprint and stretch runs(as far as QB getting ball to RB)? Get the ball back to Helu as soon as you can so he can use his vision and burst. With the zone read it is hard to use your vision and the QB ends up making the call who is gonna run the ball.
  2. If you can point out where I said down with Watson then you can throw your stones. However, I never said get rid of Watson. I like Watson, but I feel he gets stuck in calling the same kind of plays all game. I guess you like watching 30 zone read runs, and 30 screen passes to the flat. I'm sorry, but if you think he was imaginative in his play calling against TTech then you weren't watching. I pay alot of money for my seats, so I feel I have a right to discuss my frustrations if I feel like it. I have never once called for a coaches head(except Cosgrove, but he really isn't a coach). What I find hard to believe are the fans who can't see the weaknesses in play calling during the TTech game, however, I also don't see how fans are calling for coaches heads which is ridiculous. Now as far as who should be playing/starting what positions is the coaches decision. Fans have no idea who can play and can't. The coaches will play the best person in each spot. They perform in practice and get to start because they are the best. I do not believe the coaches feel they owe any player because they are a junior or senior, they will play the best players regardless of grade. I am not calling for heads, but message boards are made for ranting frustrations. So, if you don't like what I say then don't read it, please.
  3. don't run the zone read the entire game. The I-formation does still have a place in College Football. Or hell, even put two running backs in the backfield and try some misdirection. And most importantly, make sure we throw at least 5 balls a game down the field. We have to stretch the defense and give our WR's a chance to make big plays. Oh, also, don't forget, we still have TE's. Please Mr. Bo Pelini, can we have a game where our defense isn't looking at each other or the sideline with their hands in the air because they don't know what the call is. I don't get it. Other stadiums are loud when their team is on Defense and most of them seem to know the Defensive calls most of the time. It frustrates me to no end. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Really wrong. Really. And the pass breakups aren't even on there. You may have to go to DB stats to find this. I believe he is tied for 6th in the DBs for pass break-ups.
  5. I agree with you. If you have them at the end of the year you should get it back to start the season. Now new starters, etc should have to earn theirs but I do like returning Blackshirts should keep theirs. If they are not producing I don't have a problem with it being taken away either.
  6. Any reason we haven't been after this guy? I mean, all you would have to do is show him what we do with our TE's and that should be enough to seal the deal.
  7. I'm glad this evaluation mentions "stiffness." I have really noticed the type of players, esp the last couple of years, since Bo and Co. have been here they tend to like to recruit. They look for lanky, rangy, smooth guys it seems. Guys that move around with fluidity and are flexible. I have always thought fluidity and ease of movement is one of the best indicators of athleticism. It really seems this is first time I've seen our recruiting going this direction since the early '90s. Guys that can make something hard look easy(i.e. Suh) tend to be the most athletic. And they seem to be doing this throughout the team even in the OL which is maybe the most important thing an O-Lineman can have. If you can find Big but Smooth and Agile guys, your line will be more physical and able to move around and have better blocking schemes. I feel looking back that those are the kind of guys we had up and down the roster in the '90s.
  8. I get that impression as well, which is excellent. I can't imagine if it's between us and Missouri that the Tigers have a chance. They have a chance secondary to location. Closer to home.
  9. If i remember correctly, back in the 90's the Blackshirts were handed out before the first game usually. Now, I understand back then our defense was basically always good so this was probably easier to do. I was just wondering if anyone thinks this will ever be the norm again. Will we ever return to the point that our defense will be good enough that the Blackshirts will be handed out before the first game on a yearly basis?
  10. Out of most of these awards being talked about, this is the one he probably has the best chance to win(best offensive or defensive lineman), and it would be awesome if he does. But, tomorrow they will cut the list to 12 semi-finalists, Nov. 11th the 4 finalists will be named, and on Dec. 9th the finalists will go to Houston where it will be awarded.   11. I was not able to buy a 300th sellout gameday program (tan one with players carrying Devaney) when I was at the game. I walked by a guy selling them, went to Huskers authentic for 30 minutes, came back and the guy was gone. So, I went to Huskers authentic and they were sold out. The Huskers authentic booth in the stadium also sold out. Waited way after the game looking for programs lying around the stadium but no luck. I really want a program, so I am asking anyone on here if they might have a good one to sell for a reasonable price. I would like it to be in very good/excellent condition. Anyway, if you can help me that'd be great. I will buy it from you, but not for what they are going for on ebay(+$50). Thanks
  12. PressVol..... My favorite is the the greeting card quip, because we all know there is no place more urban and hip than Knoxville Tennessee! This picture is pretty crazy. It's in North Central Nebraska, because I know exactly where that was taken. I've driven by this place many, many, many times in my life considering it's about 3.5 miles outside my hometown. This is a real place, and that door opening is a Hangar where a guy builds small airplanes. I couldn't hardly believe it when I saw it, pretty weird. I wonder how that ended up on the internet. This is truly weird. Of all pictures to use, they use this one, and I have never ever seen it before til now.

  14. Two completely different injuries. Herian's leg broke badly, and Blue tore up his knee. I know Herian had some set backs in his recovery, like a second surgery, but he had two broken bones(no tendon or ligament damage), not a torn up knee. From my experience, it seems like it takes much longer to come back from a torn up knee than it does broken bones, not only physically but also mentally. JMO
  15. Teeball? Its football season, not little league baseball, thats for the summer. Hope your better at watching Husker games that have been DVR'd then I am, I can't keep from fast fowarding to the end. It sucks Whoever schedules your teeball season this late is completely nuts!! Teeball is a summer sport for sure.
  16. When I went to the USC/NU game in L.A. at the coliseum (biggest sh!thole I've ever been in) we actually stayed in Vegas and drove down to the game. I bet it a day or so before the game and got 19 points for NU, my Dad bet like right before we left and and he only got 17 points. Well, we lost by 18. Lucky me I guess. It's all about money and where the action is and trying to keep the bets within a certain amount between the teams. So, in my case, alot of people were putting money on Nebraska, so the line dropped.

  18. There are only 2 (maybe 3) jersey numbers retired. Now there may be 16 players with jerseys retired, but the numbers are not all retired.

  21. I watched all of these entrances. There is no way we shouldn't be in the top 3. Actually, I really trully think we should be number 2. One reason I really wanted to go to the VT game was for the entrance. That's pretty frickin awesome! I think we need some smoke too, that would amp it up even a little more, and one good thing that I thought PeePeederson did do was the fireworks during the tunnel walk.

  23. Hey papio, when I used to live in Chicago I used to go to McGee's Tavern over by Depaul U. That place was always packed full of Husker fans on game days and they would play the fight song after scores, gave away husker cups, etc. Then I don't know if they were bought by someone else or what happened but they all of a sudden decided to do away with being a Nebraska bar. I never really ever found another Husker bar in Chicago after that. I heard that Hoghead Mcdunna's was but I never went there(I see they have redone that bar and are just called McDunna's now). I have never been to Kirkwood's, but if they serve Elk Creek they have to be a legit Nebraska bar. Wish I was still in Chicago once in awhile, however football season is not one of them because now I get to be in Memorial at every game. Have a good time and GBR.
