  1. Dr. King and his protestors were assembling peacefully and were beaten, arrested and prosecuted by the police because the police disagreed with their agenda - NOT because they had broken a law. There is a direct parallel between Dr. King's movement and this movement, and it's not even a leap in logic. Two groups of peaceful protestors rousted by the cops. This isn't a situation of "I can't see the parallel," it's clearly, "I don't want to see the parallel." Remove your head from the sand and see what's really going on. 74, are you even bothering to read the articles in your google results? You should. They paint a FAR different picture than the one you're peddling. From the very first results your google: Who's going too far: Occupy protestors or the police? Discussion of the police being the aggressors for little or no reason. Scott Olsen 'cannot talk' after injury at Occupy Oakland protest Oaktown cops injure an Iraqi war vet who had committed no known crime - he was simply assembling peacefully, using the rights granted to him under the First Amendment. Now he has a brain injury. His fault? Occupy movement could be damaged by violent clashes "Most Occupy gatherings have been peaceful, and protesters have developed good working relationships with the police. Most disputes have been over logistical issues like garbage and drumming." Judge tells Tennessee to stop arresting Occupy protesters You should stop assuming what these arrests are for and actually find out what's actually happening. Otherwise you are wasting your time.
  2. holy crapooola! MONSTER HIT BY ERIC!! WOW He is a monster. Not a man. The only way to slow down the monster is to suspend him I miss Dan Beebe. Wait a minute --- no I don't!
  3. Gonna close this one. There's a LOT of discussion of this in the "checking in" thread. Read all about it over there.
  4. Rumor has it, that's what Mrs. Cunningham is required to say when they are in flagrante delicto.
  5. Morgan Marlborough was named to the 1st Team All-Big Ten today. Congratulations, MM!

  6. I've heard conflicting reports. Some people say they're not wearing them in a game at all, some say only one game. I wouldn't expect to see them.
  7. It is a good board. Just watch out for BIGREDIOWAN. Not only is he big, he's red (which is scary) and he's Iowegian (which is even scarier).
  8. Tonight at 7pm Central the BTN is airing their Big Ten Icons segment on Tom Osborne. Be there or be square.
  9. I think if that seemed likely that voters would artificially make sure it doesn't happen. I think 2001 Nebraska cured a lot of people's qualms about stuff like that happening.
  10. Are you asking knapplc the schmoe member or knapplc the Moderator? It depends entirely on what you disagree with. If you disagree with the point being made, debate the point to your heart's content - that's what message boards are for, as I'm sure you're well aware. If you have an issue where you think someone is coming after YOU, not the topic, then you can talk to a Mod about it.
  11. I figured the objection to Rex was stats-based. I can't argue against that concept, because there really are certain benchmarks you have to have to be in contention for the Heisman, and Rex doesn't have them. He doesn't have the yards, he doesn't have the touches, he's not on a top team, etc. But as far as how "good" he is... I don't think Ball, Richardson, etc are "better." Just different. And used differently.
  12. He does have a point. You just disagree with it. I think there's a terminology disconnect.
  13. Turf toe on top of his ruptured achilles from last year? That's a tough combination. I can't imagine he'll be as mobile as billed.
  14. It would be neat to have our final game actually mean something. If both Nebraska and Iowa are out of contention, it's just another game. But I don't think the Iowa game is going to be all that epic. I think we're going to see a lot of what we saw against Sparty - a very aggressive front four let loose on an immobile QB. Vandenberg is going to be a sitting duck back there. If Iowa doesn't go max-protect on EVERY PLAY, he may not last the first half.
  15. Those kinds of stats are why we saw the Blackshirts handed out. Not simply because we beat Michigan State, but because we played solid (not spectacular, just solid) defense for longer than a quarter or two at a time.
  16. Every day I come to HuskerBoard and I think, "Today is the day I'm going to ban sd'sker." But then he does something totally awesome and I fall in love all over again. You had me at "i," sd'sker. You had me at "i."
  17. I threw something at the TV during that first Texas game. Put a chip in my screen. Just one of a dozen very frustrating Texas games.
  18. I have never liked displaying number of posts. A person's post should be judged SOLELY by its merits, not backed by some number that means nothing. That 10,000th post isn't better because of the 9,999 that went before it.
  19. According to the "official recap," the LOS was the 40. Martinez' foot isn't across the 40, it's on it. In the replay posted above I believe you can even see white (from the line) in front of his toes. How desperately bored are we all that we're talking about this? Good times.
  20. Giants rookies Prince Amukamara, Tyler Sash and Henry Hynoski had to dress up for Halloween during their trip to visit kids in the hospital yesterday. Overall, I'd say Prince had the best of the costumes:
  21. Look at the line judge. He is supposed to straddle the line of scrimmage. You can easily see that his body center is to the left of the 40 yard line - in fact, his left foot is nearly on it. Martinez is lined up right on the line, not across it, as you can tell when you pause it at 2:17. He is clearly not offside. But, as has been mentioned umpteen times already, all Martinez had to do is to check with the line judge. If he does, and the LJ says he's OK, then he's not offside.
  22. Definitely. Definitely agree with this. His potential is scary.
