  1. Your pre-Illinois VB appetizer - Iowa visits the Coliseum tonight at 7pm. Airs on NETV.

      Definitely should be.

  2. There's an Ivy-League school's worth of knowledge just waiting for you in your local library. It's interesting the access we have to knowledge. Where you college education gets you a leg up on the guy who just reads at the Library is instruction into how to apply that knowledge. You can know tons of facts, but without the ability to apply it in a practical setting... it's just a bunch of facts. If Jeopardy calls then you'd be golden.
  3. Platypi. Grammar is important. Proper grammar on a message board is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your Uncle jack off a horse. (yes, I know its not grammar, its punctuation in the previous proof. I'm not serious) Yet platypi is not the universally accepted plural for platypus. In fact, the scientific community itself cannot agree on which should be used, platypuses or platypi. Platypi is etymologically incorrect; platypodes is more technically correct, but usage is rare to the point of absurdity. "Platypuses" is correct, and is the most commonly used plural. That's why I chose it.
  4. That's sickening, yet somehow unsurprising. The world might really be a better place if all the corp execs were rounded up and hung from the nearest lightpoles. This happens from time to time. Czar Nicholas, James II, Louis XIV, Shah Pahlavi, even recently with the so-called Arab Spring. It so happens that power begets power, and believes in power, and forgets ultimately that the masses are the real power. All that money Louis XIV played with couldn't save his neck. Didn't stop Nicholas from being executed, didn't stop the Shah from being deposed, didn't help Hosni Mubarek, and it won't help anyone else if the masses decide to throw over the status quo and start over. I'm not predicting a revolution, and I don't think torch-wielding mobs are about to descend on Fifth Avenue, but the growing disparity in America is not a healthy thing. It's not healthy for the increasingly pinched Middle Class, and it's not healthy for the Upper Class, who are not safe from a radical rearrangement of the system.
  5. Single Barrel is a new bar on the corner of 10th & P, where Boomer's Printing used to be. I haven't been there yet, so I can't comment on how good it is. Its claim to fame is that it's the current home of the Sidetrack Band. In other news, the Sidetrack bar, former home of the Sidetrack band, is pretty much irrelevant in the world of Lincoln bars now.
  6. Switching your theme to IP Board may be a temporary fix if this is getting too annoying. So far no reply on the SOS I put out. Hopefully soon.
  7. According to Travel & Leisure Magazine (online), Memorial Stadium is the seventh-best college football stadium in the land. 1. The Big House - Ann Arbor 2. Notre Dame Stadium - Touchdown Jesus getting some love 3. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium - The Swamp has been a happy place to watch games for about 20 years now. 4. Kyle Field - Much respect for the Aggies. Probably would have put them higher than The Swamp. 5. Franklin Field - home of the Penn Quakers. Oldest stadium in college football, which explains its lofty spot. Did you know that fans toss toast onto the field after the third quarter? Also, this was the site of the first-ever college football scoreboard, and the first-ever radio and television broadcasts of a football game. Impressive. 6. Bronco Stadium - home of the Smurf Turf. In no way, shape or form does this field belong ahead of Memorial Stadium. This is a flavor-of-the-month choice. Yuck. Their Husker write-up: They're a little behind the times with naming Oklahoma as our biggest rival. Also not sure where they're getting the Single Barrel love - the joint has only been open a couple of months. But whatever.
  8. I think that was a Minnesota crew on that video. Lyell Bremser called it for Nebraska's radio network. No, that was Bob Devaney. Who was doing the play-by-play? That had to be the TV broadcast, correct? Edit - did some checking, and according to a guy commenting on YouTube (I know) this was the KETV-7 Omaha broadcast of the game. The play-by-play guy was Bob Cullinan.
  9. I think that was a Minnesota crew on that video. Lyell Bremser called it for Nebraska's radio network.
  10. Sorry for the annoyance, guys. I'll put in a request for this to get looked at ASAP.
  11. Is this on a computer or mobile? What browser are you guys using? Edit - Got it. I'm seeing this on Explorer, but not on Firefox.
  12. Some Boise State information from past threads: BSU wanted $1 million to play Nebraska Is Boise State a top football program
  13. I don't love the Badgers. I quite like them, and I have ever since Alvarez went over there. Would have liked a better game against you guys, but it is what it is.
  14. I wouldn't have been upset to have Missouri in the Big Ten, but clearly this wasn't ever going to happen. Not sure why, but Delany does NOT want them. Geographically this puts the Big Ten into a bit of a corner. There aren't many connected schools worth adding right now. Perhaps contiguous footprint isn't a big deal anymore, though.
  15. I can't wait to see how Dan Beebe spins this into Nebraska's fault. Again. Oh - wait... I forgot that Dan Beebe is no longer relevant. My bad! Anyway, the news:
  16. I love how Minnesota crosses the 50 yard line on their first possession. It kinda went downhill from there.
  17. What the.....!?!?!?? What are you, a hacker? How did you get those messages? This is an outrage!
  18. True. We are spectacularly mediocre, I see. C'mon. That's not my agenda. Aww.. dont tell him that. I love seeing Wisconsin fans squirm. =P [privatemessage name=bringonUrban]That really is my agenda, I'm just feeding him a line of BS. It's all part of the plan to get back at Bucky for kicking our butts so bad. [/privatemessage]
  19. The technology was definitely there to make a better 'shop than that. I went through SCC's graphics program in 1997 and did better work than that.
  20. True. We are spectacularly mediocre, I see. C'mon. That's not my agenda.
  21. This statement says much more about you than it does about Creighton. Creighton Law School, Class of 1985 Has it been your experience that people generally know that Creighton exists, outside of basketball conversations? I can tell you that I've traveled across this country and when I tell folks I'm from Nebraska, Creighton never, ever comes up in conversation. It's just a small school. It's unsurprising that it's not as well-known as UNL. Heck, my dad graduated from Midland. I bet 95% of the people posting here have no idea where Midland is, or that it even exists.
