  1. C'mon, man. You've already been given a list of coaches who disprove this myth you're projecting here. Bobby Knight is the most obvious example and he screamed so hard at his players his face turned purple. Knight had ten Sweet Sixteen appearances and won three national championships with Indiana, all the while yelling at anyone in earshot. It's fine that you don't like Bo, but at least have something concrete to denounce him for.
  2. I think calling our O Line the single biggest concern on the team is not an understatement. All the feel-good posts in the world won't make me feel any better until we're knee-deep in November and the guys are still playing effectively.
  3. Standing O for zoogies' post on the other page. With a tweak here and there, that's pretty much what I would have written.
  4. What's funny is to read the comments on the vote. The Wolverines fans started off by explaining to each other how to cheat the vote, via multiple browsers, deletion of cookies, all the usual stuff. Then, as redblooded explained, someone started automating votes for Michigan and their totals jumped dramatically. Then someone started automating votes for Nebraska, only they clearly did it much better, and now we're way ahead. So the argument on the Michigan side isn't that Nebraska fans cheated - it's that we cheated more effectively than they cheated. That's not a compelling argument.
  5. Oh it is? Planking Death. I know, I heard about that. You can die doing anything if you're stupid enough. That's what the Darwin Awards are for.
  6. This is the first time someone has posted a pic of one of our players planking. That doesn't mean that planking started in Nebraska today, any more than the fact that the pic of the player's BBQ that I just posted the other day means that was the first time anyone had BBQ'd in Nebraska. I think its clear to see that sarcasim just came to Nebraska. Were you really not picking that up in my post? That facepalm wasn't a "man I can't believe you said that," more of an over-the-top silliness kind of thing. I debated whether I should have left it in there, but I was in a hurry to get to the softball game and left it. Clearly it wasn't as funny as intended, and I apologize.
  7. I agree entirely. Them claiming they have 2 is a stretch, let alone 11! I do wonder though, did anyone proclaim us as "national championships" back from the late 1800 and early 1900s? I never thought we did, but I really don't pay much attention to the history of what was quote on quote called "football" for that time. The first time anyone proclaimed us "national champions" was in 1970, and again in 1971, both widely regarded as "legitimate" national championships. Nebraska has been awarded "national championships" by various sources, both reputable and not-so-reputable, eleven times: 1970, 1971, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1993, 1994, 1995 & 1997. Of course, we only lay claim to those championships given by reputable sources (those in bold), so we only display five trophies. Frankly, I don't even know who awarded us "championships" in the 1980s, and I doubt seriously we have any hardware for those alleged titles. I know for a fact that no such "championship" trophies are on display at Stadium Drive, but I couldn't tell you if we do or don't have trophies for these up in the coaches' offices.
  8. It's because they have very little integrity. They claim nine national championships prior to 1936. 1936 was a magical year because that was the first year of the Associated Press Poll. Prior to this, any publication, body, sportswriter, pundit or Wizard of Oz could bestow a national championship on a team. Most of those championships come with a bit of controversy, since multiple bodies handed out multiple championships to multiple teams, often with very little reason or consideration for... much of anything. That's why Nebraska doesn't claim the "national championships" they won from 1980-1984. Why? Integrity.
  9. This is the first time someone has posted a pic of one of our players planking. That doesn't mean that planking started in Nebraska today, any more than the fact that the pic of the player's BBQ that I just posted the other day means that was the first time anyone had BBQ'd in Nebraska. Wait... You're telling me we finally got BBQ in Nebraska? Yep. And Internet last week. Apparently it took a while to get that series of tubes to stretch this far.

  11. I've seen pics of several of the players planking lately. As pastimes go, it's pretty harmless.
  12. I suppose it depends on how you define "destroyed." From a November, 2007 LJS article: LINK Cutting walk-ons by 1/2 to 2/3 wasn't what Nebraska Fan wanted to see. That's anywhere from 30 to 70 kids that didn't get a chance under Callahan who would have under Devaney, Osborne, Solich & Pelini.
  13. I don't know if that's true or not, Okaive, but I do recall about this time last year all the talk of A&M leaving the Big XII for the SEC all on their own. Now that you mention it, I don't know if we ever saw anything that was more than message board fodder on that...
  14. Every single post you make that is about you or about me adds to the lie of this quote. Have you already forgotten this? Or were these just words?
  15. Good catch on that one! I did not know that. Not only the pollsters, but specifically the voters in the Big Ten footprint voted overwhelmingly for Nebraska, and PSU has never forgotten it:
  16. My sources tell me it's Tim Marlowe. But my source is the post two above yours, so TTFWIW.
  17. Take your own advice. This whole drama started with you taking umbrage to the word "persecute." Whether you want to use the "persecute" or "attack," you have been at the epicenter of every religious argument on this site for the past couple of years, "attacking" (to use your word) religion. There isn't a religious thread in this forum in which you haven't "attacked" the topic. Do you really expect to be taken seriously with your protests of innocence when you say things like this?
  18. So the people who made that video would have us believe that aliens, with the technology necessary to travel at a minimum tens of light-years across space to reach us have done so, have set up secret operations on Earth, and have the technological know-how to hide their presence from our current top-of-the-line radar/IR/whatever..... but we're also supposed to buy the fact that these same aliens are too daft to remember to turn off their headlights while performing their clandestine operations? I'm going to guess these aren't aliens.
  19. That's good - our old banners were looking pretty tattered, and not long ago I was wondering if they were going to replace them.
  20. No, the difference between you and me is that I help run this site and you are a member. You don't see the complaints, you don't get the PMs, you don't have to deal with the BS that you cause. You just post here and walk away. It's my job to keep this place clean, civil and open to all members. This isn't the "Husker_x isn't afraid of anyone" forum. This is a public forum where a broad range of views - not just yours - need to be made to feel welcome. You do not make people feel welcome, and that becomes my problem. I'm tired of dealing with you as a problem. Your claims that I'm lying about you are patently false, but they serve to illustrate a fact - the first person to turn this personal, to make this about the person and not the topic, is you. Again. I did not approach you in this thread, you approached me. In fact, I've gone out of my way to engage in pleasant conversations with you, despite your history on this site. This conversation started because you felt the need to justify the fact that you choose to use "attacks" to explain your point of view on religion. Your word, not mine. I'm not interested in playing this "how far can I push knapplc" game. If that's what you want to do, I will solve that problem.
  21. OK, looks like I have to retract my statement above. According to THIS ARTICLE on Huskermax, the CU auction was always scheduled to end in two more days.
  22. I think you're right. I doubt Wisconsin decides to reinvent the wheel just because Wilson is on campus. The only thing is, the guy runs a 4.69 40. He's not going to be a major player in their running game with that kind of speed - at least not against Nebraska or Ohio State.
  23. Well, this is interesting. Both the Colorado and Nebraska banner auctions were supposed to end at the same time - roughly 11am our time. The Nebraska auction is done, and the winning bid was no less than $625. At the time I posted this, Nebraska's banner had eleven votes and the CU banner had five votes. I checked again with about nine minutes remaining, and the prices were the same as I listed in the OP. But now if you check out the auction page, you find that the CU banner is still up for auction, and that there are two days left on that auction. Also, even though there have been no new bids, the price has gone up to $400. Are they artificially pumping up their price? That seems a little silly.
