  1. So let's see - they've gone away from Jerrod and Christine and the scary running game into a more vertical passing game? Man, I'm gaining confidence that we'll win out by the second! This plays right into our hands.
  2. Can someone please enlighten me? How can Pinkel on one had say it was just a hard hit and that he didn't think there was any malice intent and then on the other hand submit the video for review? Seriously??? Is that not a completely opposite train of thought? That does seem somewhat contradictory.
  3. What's funny is that on TV, the announcers will rarely if ever mention things like this, but when a bally-hooed recruit makes a big play, they like to prattle on and on about Johnny Bigbritches and his five stars. We had a walk-on play several minutes in the thick of the game Saturday and, to my knowledge, the announcers barely mentioned his name.
  4. Here's another thread that has run its course. Thanks for participating, everyone.
  5. Sure, but the question back then wasn't "Would McCoy be a good rookie," it was, "Will McCoy be better than Suh?" The obvious answer was no, he wouldn't be. The stats bore that out. The combine bore that out. Their play on the field the last two years bore that out. Despite this, despite all the evidence to the contrary, McShay went on every program, article and blog he could find to say that McCoy was the better pro prospect. McShay made a case for McCoy and it could have affected Suh's draft stock and his future, and people were pissed. The fact that McShay was not just wrong but horribly wrong still rankles with plenty of people.
  6. Let's get one thing straight right now. ISU did not beat us. Nebraska beat us last year. ISU was the recipient of a ridiculously unusual number of turnovers in one game, almost any one of which would have given us the win had it not happened. Everyone can run up the caution flag all they want, but do NOT use last year's game as "proof" that they can beat us. "Any given Saturday" has more validity.
  7. Yes, it is. I can't remember specifics, but we've sent tape there for further review, too.
  8. This is exactly what I heard. Can't remember who was saying it, but they made it sound like Smith's issues are kind of "sad," or an unfortunate situation. Not sure if I heard that very well, but that's what it seemed like they were saying. It's certainly not that he's not capable of playing well, he's just banged up. Thenarse is an entirely different story. I'm very happy to see that he's back up to 100% after that injury last year, but dammit Rickey, you're a Senior! Wrap up! He's been so frustrating this year, especially since his "wood" hits aren't carrying much wood. When Garret Gilbert bounces off your "laying the wood" shot and keeps going for another 7-10 yards, you're doing it wrong. I love what Rickey has put into this program during his time, but he's so damned frustrating to watch that I can't complain that he's benched.
  9. It isn't his job to be the turd in Nebraska's punch bowl, but he's been that for longer than I can remember. If he was strictly neutral I could respect that. But he's not - he's been overtly antagonistic to Husker football for years, including some pretty cheap articles written about our team in the 90s.
  10. I can't imagine we'll be overlooking a team that was on the other side of arguably the most embarrassing loss in Husker history. I have zero doubt this team will be 100% loaded for bear Saturday. No doubt in my mind.
  11. I was worried about this. As poorly as Kansas is playing this could be a horrific rout, and I wondered if anyone would pick the game up.
  12. I'm so glad you posted this! During the game I noticed him on the field and couldn't figure out who he was. I asked around but nobody near us had ever heard of him, and up in the nosebleeds in the North end zone we couldn't read the name. I would love for more to come out about this guy.
  13. Talk about high standards! Both of their so called championships where shared (2004 being only a divisional champ.), and one of them occurring a whooping 98 years ago! Poor cyclones, it's sad how little success it takes for them to get their hopes up. Good luck on Saturday fellas, your going to need it! That is so cute! We have more Heisman Trophy winners than they have division/conference championships.
  14. The relationship between the school and Brent kind of soured after this incident:
  15. Nebraska is the only Big XII team to have a player suspended for these hits. There have been a couple of other players suspended around the country.
  16. It's not a lot different than a coach throwing the red flag on a play they want reviewed.
  17. All right. I wasn't sure before, but now I am - we've talked this one out. Hate me if you want but I'm shutting this one down.
  18. Correct, 74. Going at or below the knees is only illegal if another player is engaged with the "victim" above the waist, while the second blocker then engages them below the waist. Without that second blocker, it's a cut block, and legal.
  19. As has been mentioned several times, the reason Martin wasn't suspended for that hit, despite the fact that this rule was in effect at that time, is that Nebraska had not announced its intention of leaving the conference. Had we done that in the summer of '09, Martin would have been suspended.
  20. I'm telling you, I won't be surprised one bit if he's suspended. Beebe set a precedent and he's going to have to uphold it. The key word in Martin's suspension was the word "flagrant." If they think Osborne's hit was flagrant, he'll sit.
  21. I cannot wait for this game against Young Mr. Hawkins. if he comes back and plays...or it just may become the addition of hansen Hansen is out for the season with a ruptured spleen. Hawkins is their guy for the remainder of the year.
  22. I cannot wait for this game against Young Mr. Hawkins.
  23. and Tyrod Taylor And Todd Reesing.
