  1. If you need further evidence that the timing of this suspension and subsequent mud-slinging against Nebraska is not an accident, check out the video below. Pay special attention to the hit at :43 by our Mr. Martin. This hit took place last season, when the rule that allowed Martin's suspension was in effect: That hit, celebrated by all, commemorated in this video, witnessed by tens of thousands including the Big XII front office, resulted in no penalty, no suspension. Of course, Nebraska hadn't announced they were leaving for the Big 10 when this hit took place.
  2. It is not exactly a hit I would want to show as an example of a helmet to helmet illegal hit. This hit happens all the time, you could watch it in a pop warner game. Keep your head on a swivel!!! Exactly. This is why the people wringing their hands over it, from the TV announcers on down to regular football fans, have lost their minds. Martin's hit was very hard, but it was not illegal. The TV guys overreacted to it, the League overreacted to it, and so have others. It's like they've never watched football before - and FOR SURE it's like they've never watched Eric Martin before. The guy has been hitting like this throughout his career at Nebraska - it's just now the League decides he must be punished.
  3. The Cubs fan in me says, "Wait til next year."
  4. I call BS. I live out of Nebraska and work with mostly Nebraska haters. I should the clip to a number of them and asked, "was this a clean, hard it, or was it an illegal hit or a cheap shot." every single person said it was a clean hard hit and that the guy should have been paying attention. Which clip did you show? As has already been pointed out in this (and other) threads, there is an angle that makes it look like a clean hit. The one where the OSU player's back is to the camera. Every clip I've seen shows Martin leading with his shoulder with incidental contact with the helmet. Every clip.
  5. Since when? I watched them with my family the day of the SDSU game.
  6. I have room to talk. How about that clown Kellen Huston that punched a defenseless fan in Columbia in 2003? http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/80612437/ How about that clown Derrick Washington, huh? This could go on and on and on. I expect something regarding LP in response. That's not going to happen, and here's why. I'm not letting this board devolve into the same cesspit of BS it turned into prior to last year's Missouri game. If the conversation dips away from Xs and Os and turns into a bitchfest about whose fans are the worst or whose team has the most criminals, I'm shutting those posts down. If anyone wants to throw mud at another fan base, do it in the Woodshed. If you need the password, PM a Mod.
  7. I have room to talk. How about that clown Kellen Huston that punched a defenseless fan in Columbia in 2003? http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/80612437/ How about it? Huston was vilified by Husker fans for that crap. How does Huston being an idiot do anything to mitigate your hypocrisy regarding Spoon?
  8. Apparently you missed the fact that Missouri trailed unranked San Diego State at home with less than a minute to go in the game? A TD with 52 seconds left to eke out a win against an unranked, crappy opponent kind of fits what enhance was saying, no? You're welcome to pound your chest, and your team has earned you some boasting rights, but let's not lose our minds here. Missouri is by NO means invincible. True they are not some power house but to be fair knappy they are #31 in the AP poll. They are not nearly as bad as you and others make them out to be. Outside of you guys almost losing to Sad Diego St, the only reason people even remotely remember that school is Dan McGwire... Yeah because nobody remembers Marshall Faulk, Joe Gibbs, Don Coryell, Herman Edwards, John Fox or Robert Griffith.... Gibbs, Edwards, Coryell, Fox and Griffith are remembered for their exploits elsewhere more than their connection with SDSU. Faulk still gets a lot of association with SDSU, though.
  9. This isn't the only board on which I talk football. There are many non-Husker fans who see it the way I do, and many who see it the way you do. It's not a clear-cut case of a player intentionally spearing another player. Nobody here is saying it was a totally clean hit. Nobody is saying it was a totally dirty hit, near as I can tell. Most everyone says there is gray area. Guess which side of that gray area Husker fans are going to land on? Further, your attitude towards clearly illegal hits seems to have been in absentia last year when your boy Weatherspoon punched our TE as he lay on the ground. I seem to recall a deafening silence from you and the rest of the Tiger fans about that play - for which Spoon was not suspended. You, sir, have zero room to talk to anyone about opening eyes.
  10. What about that rule means the OSU player should not be suspended? Was he flagged for helmet-to-helmet? I don't recall that he was....?
  11. Here is the perfect opportunity for Watson to silence his critics. He has the horses. He has the WRs. He has a game-changing TE. He has an offensive line. He has weeks of film on his opponent. Now is the time to put all of this together with a nice game plan that takes advantage of our strengths and keeps his opponent guessing. It's time to move the ball, score some points, and dictate, rather than react. If he cannot do that in this game, then he cannot stay.
  12. That was a good read, but the author is absolutely high if he thinks both teams will score under 20 points. I would imagine both will score between 24-35 points. As good as both defenses are, both offenses are very, very good.
  13. You gotta tip your cap to enhance. That guy knows his stuff. I'm a big fan.
  14. I dont have the rich seats knappy... long live he blue hairs!! because those tradions are dead among your young fans and they are no different than the fans at MU,TX,OU,KU,KSU,ISU and so on. That is a rep that is slowly dying. I think its a cool thing, i try my darndest to rep MU in a good light. Sometimes even going out of my way to be friendly when wearing MU gear. Im not even a NU fan and I think it sucks that its dying off. And knapp, i have no doubt that if you were there you would have clapped buddy. No doubt. You're right in that a lot of our younger folks aren't embracing that attitude. It's disheartening to see, but the good news is that typically when they age, they mellow, and things like good sportsmanship and being generous with praise to your opponent becomes more important. The tenets by which Husker football tries to live are not always easily grasped by the hubris of youth. You have to chock that up to immaturity and give us a pass on that, to some extent. It is impossible to police all things, and you cannot make someone be nice. Some people are just asshats.
  15. I would like to keep that trophy and display it prominently until doomsday.
  16. The trophy room is accessible to the public before the games at the North door of the weight room complex, north of the stadium. This is the door with the statue of Osborne and Berringer, which is another must-see. Inside that door is a vestibule holding our national championship trophies, as well as other trophies from major bowl victories. To the left as you walk through the vestibule is a small room that looks like a refugee from a Star Trek set. Inside there you'll see the Heisman Trophy presentation room, with the actual factual trophies, and a couple of pretty decent films, one showing the Heisman winners' highlights, the other showing the tunnel walk video. I would recommend getting there as early as possible, like 10am for this game, to see these things. After checking this stuff out, you can wander around the Husker Nation Pavilion area in the Ed Weir track just east of the trophy room. There are a zillion tailgates in this area as well. About three hours before the game you should be either on the East side of the stadium or around the door by the Osborne/Berringer statue to watch the team walk into the stadium during the Unity Walk. The band is there, the cheerleaders, and a bunch of fans. It's pretty fun.
  17. Can we just move onto the Big 10 now? Not until we have their championship trophy.
  18. I will 100% guarantee you that the Husker fans left in the stadium applauded Missouri as they left the field. As sure as there are stripes on a Tiger, Husker fans show that respect to the opponent. My folks have gone to every game since 1990. They were applauding, if nobody else was - but I know they weren't alone.
  19. Very good find, Drumline. As has been mentioned several times in this thread, there are a multitude of helmet-to-helmet hits in every game. The reason that Oklahoma State player wasn't suspended is very simple - next year his team will still be playing in the Big XII.
  20. I must say I find it amusing that a thread like this was started by a Tiger fan, yet now that we have several visitors showing little respect to the Huskers, this thread has made its way to page two, and obscurity. Pot, meet kettle.
  21. We do - and we applauded Chase when he left the field after beating us. Then he made stupid comments about our fans and claimed our players spit on him. Daniel was no saint, he shot his mouth off about our team and our fans, he showed no respect, so he gets none in return. Pretty simple equation.
  22. There most certainly is a question about it. He led with his shoulder, as he has done on dozens of similar hits throughout his career. Helmets touched, but he did not lower his head and lead with the crown of his helmet.
