  1. I like the idea of using a gun, but like 37 I have a young child at home and I fear bullets going through walls and hitting her. I have a couple of guns at the house, but for home defense I prefer my full-tang broadsword and/or my hickory axe handle wrapped in black tape, depending on where I am when the bad guy comes in. I'd rather leave them with broken bones and a staved-in head than risk shooting my family by accident.
  2. I'm not sure the extent of Reed's injury, and consequently how much that'll hurt his speed. He only played in one of our last six games (Colorado) and only got one catch. He missed the Big XII Championship and the Holiday Bowl. If he heals up and maintains his speed he'll be a good threat at WR.
  3. The last two minutes of game time have been ridiculous for the refs. Every single questionable call went KSU's way. The announcers said the Cats had only made one basket since half but they'd cut the lead down because of all the FREE throws.
  4. LINK you do realize that northwestern makes more money then all the schools in the big 12, save texas right? and you add texas too the big 10/1 they get a whole hell of a lot richer. No, I don't realize that because it's not true. For certain Texas makes the most money (they're #1 in the country), but Oklahoma State, Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska all make more money than Northwestern's athletic department.
  5. Good point, but it's not surprising. He's been out of the limelight for six months.
  6. What??????????????????????????????????????????????/ Pretty sure he's making a play on the thread title. Didn't I just say that? Sheesh, pay attention to the thread! Maybe he has you on ignore?
  7. PM killer cacti and he'll make one for you.
  8. This is what you can do when you have three healthy QBs on scholarship you trust (Lee, Green and Martinez), plus emergency backups in Washington, Kellogg and Brion Carnes. Reading this article it seems like Washington isn't going to be in the mix much. Looks like it's a competition between Lee, Green and Martinez for 2010, and Carnes (from his tape) looks like a serious contender coming up.
  9. Well, that's all she wrote. It's been a long month of nominations and voting. I only messed up the schedule twice, which isn't bad for a rookie running this, I suppose. Our final positions ended their voting run today. Dundermifflinite blew out the vote to become the HuskerBoard Towel Boy, while hack was voted in as our Equipment Manager. The last two positions to be filled in were Athletic Director and Director of Football Operations. Eric the Red is clearly our AD. He is the captain of the ship, the leader of the band. Without Eric there is no HuskerBoard, making this one a complete no-brainer. So thanks Mr. the Red for all you do. Last but certainly not least AR Husker Fan is our Director of Football Operations. For the longest time AR was the face of HuskerBoard to me - now I can't listen to the White Album without thinking of HuskerBoard. When I first joined up here I thought AR ran the whole show, he did so much and answered so many of my questions. He's always been helpful and friendly, and he's been a good egg to all and sundry. So AR, congratulations - you're our new DFO. BIG thanks to killer cacti for all his hard work with the avatars! Good job, kc! Also, big thanks to HuskerfaninOkieland for his assistance. I needed to bounce a lot of ideas off of him to start this project, and he was there with solid advice as well as being ready in case I needed someone to help with posting of new threads and whatnot. Thanks, Okie! Finally, thanks to my buddies in the Mod crew, especially HSKRNOKC who helped with the logistics and with thread maintenance when this thing started. And that wraps up the HuskerBoard Starting Lineup this year. I hope everyone had a good time. Peace out, homies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVZobzVJrSo

  11. *** Voting is Closed *** Congratulations to Dundermifflinite, our new Towel Boy!
  12. *** Voting is Closed *** EDIT: Hey look - knapp screwed up! Hack is already an Offensive Guard. Congratulations to zoogies, our new Equipment Manager!
  13. You can't take turnovers into account when predicting football. All you can do is line them up on paper and discuss the various merits of each team. This statement probably isn't as profound as you might think.
  14. Just wait until you have your Numbing. Then it'll all be OK.
  15. Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but doesn't this mean we're not there yet, but close?
  16. from everything i have seen over the past few years, i would say the exact opposite. Suh is amazing at disrupting and causing entire plays to fail by himself. Mccoy eats space, and everyonce in a while makes a play like Suh. Bingo, Fro. Let's put it this way - I wouldn't be surprised at all if an ESPN analyst simply got McCoy and Suh mixed up. They're getting lazy up in Bristol. They're the kings of sports reporting with almost zero competition. Nobody keeps ESPN honest, not even ESPN.
  17. I'm pretty sure it means "cigarette." Have you crazy kids changed the meaning of **** now?
  18. Comments like Maycock's are intended to do two things: 1) Generate conversation. Mission accomplished. 2) Hit a home run. In the off chance that McCoy is chosen ahead of Suh, it makes Maycock look like he knows something the other draft prognosticators don't. Mel Kiper is the acknowledged guru of draft prognosticators. If you're in that business, you have to take a chance to get your name mentioned. The upside for guys like Maycock and Todd McShay is that if their crazy predictions go awry, no worries - they're already second fiddle to Kiper so the damage is minimal, if not totally overlooked. This guy's opinion isn't worth getting upset about. It's just hot air.
  19. I am no more worried about Missouri than I am about Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State or Kansas. The Tigers are a young team that will have to replace their top players on offense and defense while improving across the board. They showed promise last year and are not to be taken lightly, but they also showed disquieting tendencies to falter as well. The losses of Alexander and Spoon are going to hit their offense and defense as much as the loss of Suh will hit our defense. That's not impossible to overcome, but it'll be really, really difficult to do, and that's just to keep Missouri at the 8-win level. I see them as an 8-4 team, possibly 7-5 (but I doubt that). Missouri 2010 Schedule Illinois - W McNeese State - W San Diego State - W Miami (Ohio) - W Colorado - W Texas A&M - L Oklahoma - L Nebraska - L Texas Tech - L Kansas State - W Iowa State - W Kansas - W Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas Tech are the only three opponents Missouri faces this year who finished in Sagarin's top 50. A&M finished 58, but they're climbing on my radar.
  20. I think people realize it's no fluke that our defense was tops in scoring D last year, and that we'll likely be near the top again this year, and probably for the foreseeable future with the kind of players we have and are bringing in, and with the coaches we have. People are savvy enough to realize that we're a decent (not good, just decent) offense away from contending for the Big XII every year, and making some noise in the BCS. That's "Elite." We're not there yet, but we're close. I commend the voting public for being so spot-on with this poll.
  21. Those so-called "rich ass" alumni are showing their appreciation of what a UNL scholarship and education brought them in life. They pay those exorbitant season ticket fees for choice seats, so you can get your GA ducats reasonably priced. Also, without those "rich ass" alumni, there wouldn't be any buildings on campus to sit your butt in to do your studies, or lay your head down to sleep at night. You fail to see the problem. Students stand for games, make exponentially more noise, and come in greater numbers than alumni. They're taking up what used to be student seating and making the overflow sit up in East B section while North and South A sections aren't even full. Oh and the Guard pays for my college and I live off campus. You still use the classrooms, not? The names on the sides of the buildings aren't there by accident. Endowments keeps college affordable for everyone. As for the seating arraignments, instead of bitching about it, has any of the student organizations brought this to Tom's attention. If so, there may be a financial reason for having to move the students. Seating isn't an entitlement just because the students are the program's most vocal supporters. If that were the case, I would have Vikings season tickets. Remember, TO's job first and foremost is making sure the Athletic Department stays in the black. If they start losing money, it wont be women's athletics they cut to save the bottom line. The men will lose programs before women because of Title IX. BTW, thanks for your service in the Guard. What you two are showing is that it takes not one side or the other, but both working together to make a great basketball environment. The students can't pay for buildings so they make noise (and pay for some buildings with tuition). The "old ass alumni" can't make as much noise as the kids, so they pay for buildings (and make some noise). You cannot have one without the other. Without the other, neither would exist. We need to recognize that both old and young are extremely valuable to the program and make accommodations accordingly.
  22. Final day of voting. Starting Lineup ends today.
  23. No, Suh didn't have the same stats his first couple of years here, but he was playing under the worst D Coordinator we've ever had (and hopefully ever will have). I hate throwing fuel on that fire, but it is really hard to judge him since he didn't have competent coaching or overall defensive philosophy.
  24. Do you think he'll ever live that down on this side of the border? As long as he's HC over there we're going to remember that.
