  1. I see nothing wrong with or childish about getting to know something about your fellow members.
  2. Ain't that the truth!! And to the ladies on Huskerboard: Don't be shy! My mom knows more about football than most people on this board. Dad is from Chicago, so when he came to Nebraska he was all about the Big 10 and the Illini. Mom set him straight, then educated me in Husker lore. My mom = one heck of a Husker fan :thumbs
  3. Yep, so did I. She's in front right now, 33% to 18%. Here's her bio, from that site:
  4. There are several, actually, but for the most part it's guys. Not surprising, since football primarily caters to dudes. But be welcome. Gender isn't an indicator of football knowledge or passion.
  5. I really thought TuffTiger would walk away with this. Good to see a "regular" member is hanging tough. Of course, I'm unbiased either way. Just sayin'.
  6. I wonder if most of them aren't mine. I get a ton of messages. I'd just like to know how/what it counts. I know, for one thing, that it doesn't accurately reflect who visits your profile. That list of recent views shows some but not all. Just a curiosity. You can sort the member list by profile views and I noticed a week or so ago that I had about double the #2 views, and I thought that was really odd. I had to check my profile for hidden centerfolds or something.
  7. I would strongly urge you to look at Quincy Enunwa's highlight video if you haven't already. If you haven't, watch the number of times he's hit and not brought down. The first guy rarely made the tackle, even a couple of LBs who were clearly much larger than him. This kid's a baller. Could be one of the best WRs we've had since... I don't know when.
  8. Yes. Everyone was given the choice of a runza or a cheese runza. Those who chose cheese runzas were beaten about the head and shoulders with Terrell Farley's used tube socks until they came to their senses.
  9. Are they really N if they like cheese runzas? You've got to question their fan-ness if they don't eat their runzas straight.
  10. Well, according to our unscientific poll, we can probably conclude without too much dissent that Pederson and Phillips have had the biggest "black eye" effect on the program. Clearly this means we should be wary of people associated with the program whose last name starts with "P." Good thing we don't have any prominent players, coaches or administrators like that now.
  11. How about we give Tebow a chance to acclimate to the NFL and see what he can do before we 1) anoint him the second coming of Bart Starr or 2) anoint him the second coming of Ryan Leaf. I'd love to see every QB get the same chance Aaron Rodgers had - two or three years to learn the game and figure out how to maximize his talents. I have no dog in the "Tebow is good/bad" fight. I couldn't care less if he succeeds or fails (unless the Bears draft him, then he needs to succeed). I just want to see good football in the NFL. If Tebow's that guy, more power to him.
  12. Hear, hear. Only thing I would add to all of that is that we do need to be competent in the passing department. The defense can't always be "on" and when they're having an off-game (like Texas Tech) the offense needs to be able to score. If we can roll through our schedule with a power running attack, I'm all for it. If we have to throw, though, I want a threat at Wide Receiver that the defense has to respect. Enunwa could be that guy in a couple of years.
  13. I'll get the torches and pitchforks ready. Meet at Vince's house at dusk, OK everyone?
  14. This is an odd speculation considering the fact that he averaged 17 carries the last three games of the season, with some pretty marked success. Burkhead isn't even on my concern radar at this point. Maybe Bo's talking about guys like Burkes and Blake Lawrence.
  15. Tommie Frazier took over the starting gig in his Freshman year. I think he's the last true Freshman to get significant starts at QB. I'd bet my mortgage Bo told Carnes the same thing he tells every recruit - with hard work, you could earn a spot on the field. Then he told them what they'd have to do to earn that spot. It's a daunting list, I'm sure. The playbook isn't small or uncomplicated. The depth chart has guys with (now) significant in-game experience. There are a million little details and nuances about major college pass coverage to learn, and learn better than the other guys, if you're going to start. There is no way Bo promised Carnes anything other than a chance. And that's the same promise every guy on the roster walks into the season with.
  16. That's no problem. PM killer cacti and he'll fix you up.
  17. I caught some of the Tobi Okuyemi call on 1620 yesterday and I agree with this, at least on his part. He sounded very mature, sounded like he knew what he wanted and how to work to get it, and that he'll have a chance to earn PT with hard work. If all the kids in this class are like that, we've signed a group of guys that no star system can measure.
  18. The last of the Blackshirts have been chosen. Click HERE to see who snagged CB and Safety positions. New voting threads are up: Punter Voting Thread Kicker Voting Thread New nomination threads are up: Kick Return Nomination Thread Punt Return Nomination Thread
  19. Punter: 1) Big Leg - This guy booms the ball down the field (usually 60 yards - 45 yard punts plus their 15 yard dropback!) to give the other team bad field position for their offensive series. Following through the ball and a high leg finish are their trademarks! This member's posts go "a long way" to making his side of the argument better. 2) Unsung Hero - The punter has a specific job, and he does it to the best of his ability. He doesn't normally get a chance to put points on the board, so some fans and players might forget about him. But when he pins the other team by their goal line, it's a big positive for the club! Maybe this guy doesn't get a whole lot of kudos around HuskerBoard, but he can be just as important as an offensive player or a regular poster. 3) Limited appearance - The punter is only needed on 4th downs, so they normally only play 5 - 10 downs a game. I would therefore assume the best choice for HuskerBoard punter is one who isn't a super-prolific poster and is only used when it's necessary!
