  1. You, calling out the defense. You, calling out the play calling. You, calling out Bo. You, calling out Watson. You, calling out Lee. All of you. Stop. We played a very good defense, at their house, in one of the most hostile environments in college football, against a team that is notorious for winning games in just the fashion they beat us with. We have nothing to be ashamed of. We have a few things to work on. But we should NOT be melting down like this. Show some pride. Show some character. Show that you're more than just a bunch of know-nothing armchair QBs, adept at hindsight and whining. More good will come from this game than bad. We'll be OK. This loss does not jeopardize our goals of winning the North, competing for the Big XII, or playing in a major bowl. In fact, it may galvanize the team and launch them into a special season, just like the Florida State loss propelled the 1994 Huskers to the MNC. Time will tell. There are some things to be unhappy about, yes. But this wholesale meltdown is unbecoming of a fan base who thinks they should be rooting for a team that is worth something. You want to melt down, go be a Buffs fan. Be better than that.
  2. I think we'll see quite a few kids we haven't seen play next week against Louisiana-Lafayette. And in case anyone else asks - no, I don't think they'll give us a game even after seeing them beat KSU.
  3. We can ignore users, but unfortunately we can't ignore threads. This would be a great additional function.
  4. Because we're in the business of winning games, not holding hands. Okafor wants to quit the team because he didn't see the field? Whaa. Bu-Bye. These aren't the 90s. We're not reloading, we're rebuilding. In a couple of years the Collins Okafors of the world will get to play in the 4th quarter. Now, our starters lack game experience. Maybe it's against a weak opponent when we're up by 40, maybe it's when we're down by a dozen on the road. But that PT is better served RIGHT NOW in the hands of the starters, or their immediate backups. Bo put LaTravis Washington in during the 4th quarter of the FAU game. He's cognizant of the need to develop as many players as possible. But he WILL NOT do that at the expense of the starters. Okafor found that out, left, then wised up and realized what's what. Kudos to him for that.
  5. Not really. I just don't like posts that make no sense. I'm talking globally across HuskerBoard. I just happened to reply just behind yours, but I could have said the same after a bunch of other posts. It's understandable. Everyone is eager to get off the schnide.
  6. Those starters needed the PT more than the backups, though. Our starters barely have more experience than the 4th string.
  7. I see we're all a little testy before the big game. =)
  8. Here's how you know the news is not necessarily real, but a salable commodity you're being coached to consume. Okafor left the team on Wednesday, and by 8pm it was on CNN/SI's front page. That same article is still there, as is the "Truth & Rumors" blurb whose headline says our RBs take "another hit." Now, Okafor has been back for nearly 24 hours, yet both articles are still up on their front page. Why? Because it's far easier to sell bad news than good news, that's why.
  9. I would say 95%. Win, lose or draw, we have to get the kid big-game experience. The only way he doesn't see the field is if it's a one-score game all game long.
  10. "Bite?" It's all part of the conversation, man.
  11. Me wonders if it is politically correct to ask if a black man is black even when describing him? I have specific information regarding instances where just such a thing has happened. But I am not at liberty to share more than this. To be fair, this type of thing is not limited to Black people. It is a phenomenon I have observed in people of many genders, races, national origins and religions.
  12. NU 27 VT 24 They'll score, but we'll score more. Barely.

These definitions are superficial and baseless.
  14. Wish I could be there, Hokies. Sounds like you folks are preparing a nice welcome to all the Husker fans. Good luck, have fun, and enjoy the atmosphere of a big game.
  15. What this all boils down to is that we don't know much about our team yet. You can't fault the optimists, you can't fault the pessimists; all you can do is hope we play well and the game goes our way.
  16. Among other business ventures, he owns or is a partner of a company that sells playground equipment, and my daughter's school bought some from him, and he gave us a pretty good deal. website is here. That's a nice website. Too bad Eric couldn't refer the LJS to his web designer.
  17. When a #19 beats a #13, it's not too shocking. Colorado beating Kansas State? Now that would be shocking. Watch the shock unfold if we win. We've been down for so long it'll be considered a big upset. If we lose... meh. Business as usual.
  18. It's funny, because they way this is written, it's almost as if you think we care.
  19. I'll bet this is the only board on the Internet discussing Pelini replacing Tressel this week.
  20. OwlFamily didn't think the burning N was a big deal, but clearly it got under the skin of a bunch of folks here. I just don't see any good coming from posting a similar pic, even if it is shopped and intended as a joke. Put yourself in the shoes of a VT fan. How funny would you think that is?
