  1. I think Billdozer is quite right about why Mendoza went to WR. What I'm hoping his move back to RB means is that we have plenty of depth at WR now. I know we started camp with 16 WRs, 15 now that Mendoza moved back behind the line. That means that about half our WRs won't see anything like significant playing time this year. I can see why he'd move back to RB.
  2. A really brave person would identify which sheep he is referring to. But as you like.
  3. Preferably nothing at all. I know I'm griping about nonsense. I know how the world works. I'm just griping.
  4. Whether Bo turns out to be a good head coach of a program like Nebraska or not in the long run, I have to say I can't imagine being happier with who he shows himself to be right now. We may never win ten games again, we may never vie for a national championship again, but I'd rather have that integrity, that ability to "look in the mirror" than win with a guilty conscience. Here's to Bo, and here's to doing things the right way.
  5. This blog doesn't mention K-State: LINKY-DINKY-DOO This article mentions KSU, with a quote from his coach, at the very bottom: LINKORAMA Throughout most of their articles he's described as a Miami Heat player, not a K-State player. Does this mean ESPN hates Nebraska? Hardly. But it's interesting how different players from different schools are portrayed.
  6. I chuckled. Not really an actual laugh, but not a "humph!" either. It was a worthy effort.
  7. Who's been returning kicks and punts? I remember hearing Paul's name tossed out there on punt returns, but I would think Mendoza's speed and/or Kyler Reed's speed would fit that role nicely.
  8. jayhawk I get where you're going, and I think that the perception is that it will hurt, and that's the key. Because like you said, we don't know. RB is one of the easier positions to fill on a football team. RBs come and go like the tide in the NFL; it's not a position of longevity, typically. But people are looking more at what we lost (because they've seen Q play against Clemson, for example) than what we have (which is a QB and some young RBs they've never seen before). I was at the Spring Game and I'm not that worried about Zac Lee. We'll see how the baby backs do when (and not "if" in my opinion) Helu has to sit out a game. I'm hearing from the coaches, before Q was dismissed, that we have good young running backs. We'll see if that was sunshine or the truth.
  9. I said this in another thread once before, we cannot control the behavior of other or control the destinies of our teams. I cannot control Rae Carruth anymore then you could control Thunder, it may embarrass us, but what can we really do? Same on the field, I cannot control who Cody throws a pass to any more then you can control a linebacker making a tackle. I think sometimes we envelop ourselves into our team loyalty so much that we actually believe that Madden or NCAA 9 are for real and we control everything. All I can control are my own actions. You are my favorite Colorado fan. Have I ever told you that?
  10. Agreed. I, also, have no problem with cutting someone who doesn't follow established rules. But from the outside looking in, it seems like there's a possibility that a guy like Teafatiller got a different set of chances than Glenn or Castille. AC's situation comes to mind as well. The benefit of the doubt goes to Bo in a HUGE way for me. I am nowhere near that locker and I have zero idea what Glenn or Castille did. Everything I've heard from Bo so far makes me think he's straightforward and fair with these guys. I'm not doubting that. dude, I made that same comparison yesterday and I got crucified... There was one subtle difference between your post and mine. It's hard to spot, but see if you can figure it out.
  11. There's always one lemming in front.
  12. That screen in Dallas is ridiculous. If you're not sitting in the lower two tiers, that's all you can see. A person's field of vision is probably half eaten up by this thing, and with the amount of stuff they have going on up there, it seemed really distracting the other night. Why would you want to pay $50 to watch TV? I usually sit in the North end zone at Memorial Stadium, so I don't get too caught up in the jumbotron we have. I think we're close to the limit of multimedia at the stadium, though. Much more and we're going to have overkill. The ribbons look good, and they're a good addition, and I can see why they put in the new screens, since sitting in the North, you can't see the jumbo screen, but I think we need to stop there.

  14. I appreciate Rome's longevity in the field. It's tough to stay at that level as long as he has, so I respect him for that. He lost me when he first came to my attention when he did that interview with the whole Jim Everett/Chris Everett thing where Everett threw the table aside in what is still one of the worst acting jobs on reality television. It was stupid and ignorant and preyed on the worst of human behavior, but everyone reveled in it like Rome was cool for being a jerk. Jerks aren't cool, they're jerks. Making a career out of being a jerk... yeah. I'll watch something else. I've listened to Rome's show every once in a while, but his whole schtick is off-putting to me. The whole tough guy, cocky guy, whatever. If that "fight" between he and Everett had been real, Everett would have demolished Rome in two punches. That's not cocky or tough. That's just some runt being stupid.
  15. I was in line in front of Tara at the coffee shop this AM. She was there with her BF (Tara, if you read this, I'm the dude in the jeans and black shirt in front of you). This is how I know I'm getting old. I'm standing a couple feet from this girl, whom several people in this thread think is very hot, and I thought of this thread, but instead of thinking, "wow, what a babe," I was thinking, "Wow. She's a baby!" As in, I feel MUCH older than her. She's much closer to my daughter's age than to my age. I started watching the volleyball team as a young freshman many years ago, thinking how hot the girls looked in their tight shorts. Now I'm thinking they're all young enough to be my daughters, and they're just babies.
  16. I'm guessing this guy is a Doobie Brothers fan. I can't imagine how you could continually get that "blackwater" thing wrong otherwise.
  17. You know, in general I wish they would stop linking former players with the schools they played for, especially if they were kicked out of school without graduating. Every time Maurice Clarett farts, I don’t need to be reminded he played for Ohio State. With every developing issue with Rae Carruth, I don’t need to know he played for Colorado. With every single instance of Lawrence Phillips running afoul with the law, I don’t need to be reminded he played at Nebraska. Same goes for any other kid who played for any other school, including Thunder Collins. I know that’s never going to happen because the only reason it’s news is their association with whatever school they played for. But it gets tiresome seeing these schools, whose ideals and principles are polar opposites from what these guys have done, raked through the muck over and over.
  18. You could stop reading ESPN. That'd solve that problem.
  19. Behold the power of Jim Rome! I noticed that, too. Funny stuff.
  20. Does anyone else find it strange that we lose Castille and suddenly there's a whole host of people upset that we've lost a key part of our offense this year, when Castille's career stats are unimpressive at best, yet when asked why they're upset at losing him you most often hear that he was going to be good this year, his fumbles were going away, and he'd had a good camp. So because of this, people are upset about losing him. But, coaches are raving about Zac Lee, he's the clear #1 QB, Pelini himself has noted how good Lee is doing to the national media, and yet there are about as many people here upset about our QB situation as are upset about losing Q. Why are people upset about losing Castille, yet not happy about Lee?
  21. Good stuff, and good to hear. I'm not interested in Rome in the least, but good pub is better than bad pub any day.
  22. Agreed. We don't have to have a short-yardage back, especially in this offense. A slant gets you those five yards just as well as a fullback dive. There are 100 plays you could run at the goal line that don't involve huge, Jorvorskie Lane sized guys.
  23. Are your fingers broken? I've read the article. Go to Omaha.com and read it. Why is that so hard?
  24. I'm sure you know this but I'll point out the obvious anyway - Iowa is a Big Ten school. The Iowa State Cyclones belong to the Big XII.
