  1. I know it's fun to pretend, but this is actually not some disconnected realm without consequences. There are laws which pertain here as well as the real world whether we like them or not.
  2. As much as I love Bo, I can't stand Rome. Anyone care to provide a Cliff's Notes version of the convo?
  3. Cutting and pasting the article would eliminate the issue. And can also get HuskerBoard in some hot water if the Weird Herald complains. Copypasta isn't a good idea. Take a paragraph or two to get the flavor of the article, then link to the rest. It keeps the source happy and helps disseminate the info. Another board I belong to had issues with this, and it got close to becoming legal. Don't let that happen here.
  4. What about one of the TEs? We have some pretty big guys, like Dreu Young and Ryan Hill, who could hold on to the ball but who would be a load to take down in short yardage.
  5. The OP comes out and says "Bo hates leaks," then states that his "source" could be fired for such a leak. I'm going to side with Bo and the team on this stuff, every single time. If the source here could get fired for this information, why doesn't that translate to people that maybe they shouldn't post it? It's not their business, it's Q's business and Bo's business. Just because we can do a thing doesn't mean we should do a thing. Exercise some judgment before disclosing things that you have no business disclosing. It's called integrity.
  6. Agree with those who stressed defense. We're going to stay in more games with a strong defense than a strong running game. We just have to hope Helu stays healthy. No matter how talented our baby backs are, they're still babies.
  7. Uhhh... BUUUUZZZZZ!!!!! You were right about him being kicked off the team. Show me where he was kicked off for failed drug tests? That makes you 50% correct, sport. He could have been kicked off the team for selling his gear. He could have been kicked off the team for being chronically late to team meetings. He could have been kicked off for any number of things, including parking tickets. This is the problem with rumors. People are so used to them that if there's even a shred of truth about them, they begin to accept them as fact. Fact is, he's a kid who just got an emotional sock in the gut, and you're here on a public message board accusing him, without ONE SHRED of proof, of using drugs. You want to be hailed as some kind of hero? Sell it somewhere else, pal. Here, you're just a rumormonger who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut about someone else's life.
  8. I'm soooo sorry! We should automatically believe any random stranger who posts the most outrageous things here with absolutely no evidence whatsoever. Chalk me up as another that thinks HuskerJenn is wrong on this one. The "most outrageous" thing turned out to be true so obviously it wasn't all that outrageous. Only discussing things that have been posted on a newspaper website makes for a pretty dull board. If someone knows information that person is a source and can say what they know. They shouldn't have to wait for only sources that work for the newspapers sites to post it before they can comment on it or disclose what they know. And leaving the board open to every single rumor that is heard turns this place into Rumorville, which really soured some people on HuskerBoard a couple of years ago. HuskerJen was absolutely correct in her assessment here, and the OP has NOT been shown to be true. The guy claimed Castille failed five drug tests. There has been zero proof that he failed five drug tests. We can all speculate, but until we have evidence to back it up, it's just another rumor. How hard would it have been for someone to post that Q was kicked off the team for his fifth street racing bust? Or his five hundredth alleged parking ticket? Or anything else? And what, you're going to believe it, without proof? Or is Q getting kicked off the team proof that he has unpaid parking tickets?
  9. I wonder why he's not practicing, then? Wouldn't they want him to stay in practice, even though he's not playing? I guess I don't know how that works. If this is true, 1) he's a bonehead for doing such a thing, and 2) we're going to see if the Burkhead hype is real right away. Of course, since Helu can run like a 3.87 40, I doubt we'll need another running back.
  10. I very, very much doubt Castille is kicked off the team. It's most likely an injury issue. If he was kicked off the team he wouldn't be hanging around practice in a jersey. My best guess is he's dinged up and they're being cautious just like with Helu. If he violated a team rule and it wasn't an injury I imagine he'd just sit out the first game(s) or half or something, and he'd still be practicing. If he was in legal trouble it's doubtful he'd be in a jersey at practice, unless it's a really murky situation. Let's hope it's a tight hamstring or sore ankle.
  11. I don't get the impression that Castille is off the team. Maybe he violated a team rule (pure speculation) or maybe he's dinged up like Helu was. A Helu quote makes me think this isn't worth too much worry: Helu said this yesterday, around the time this thread was ramping up. He also said this: I underlined the "I think" part because he may not have been told what's going on, so he may be speculating. Bottom line, to me, is that Helu isn't the type of kid who would lie to the press. If he says we'll see how good Q is "this season," I have to believe he knows what he's talking about and we'll see him out there. Maybe Q is dinged up. Maybe he's dealing with some things off the field. But it doesn't sound like he's going to miss much time, if any game time at all.
  12. In Missouri, she'd be considered a late bloomer.
  13. We all already know right from wrong, in at least some form. Unless we're raised by wolves it's pretty hard to get to be 18 years old and have no idea what to do and what not to do. Christian knew what he was doing was wrong, as did Lawrence Phillips and Tim Marlowe and Niles Paul. Guys on the team have team psychologists and coaches and tutors and other support structures already in place, plus they probably have parents or some form of family, access to clergy if they're into that kind of thing, whatever. They already know this stuff. These things aren't happening due to a dearth of education. They're happening because of the natural tendency to push boundaries that pretty much everyone has, you and I included. It just so happens that 1) guys like Christian and LP and Marlowe and Paul pushed too far and got caught legally, and 2) the public knows because they're celebrities of a sort. Your suggestion is a good one, but not likely to change the future police blotter with Husker Player X's name on it.
  14. Cy, if you don't get paid to be funny then you should look into it as a career. You're always cracking me up. Thanks for hanging out with us here.
  15. I'd go for that. It's stuff like this which makes people hesitant to believe those here who have real information, but who are unable to cite a source for whatever reason. To those of you who fit this description, if anyone questions you about an injury or anything "inside," this is why. It's not personal.
  16. Maybe there should be a class about the Huskers who have fallen so those who do not know the history will not be condemned to relive it!? I take it you're not yet 18-23?
  17. It's always a good thing to post only part of an article and a link to the rest. Another forum I've been a member of for a while has had some contact by the media about fair use of articles. It's not worth getting HuskerBoard in trouble over an article.
  18. You're kinda going out on a limb there presuming the 'clones will score in that game aren't you, Cy?
  19. You laugh, but "Roy Helu" is just his football name. In Track & Field he goes by his given name: Usain Bolt. Think about it - you never see "Roy" and Usain in the same room at the same time. There's no way that's a coincidence.
  20. That whooshing sound you heard was the point zipping overhead in your rush to display a rather pedestrian amount of sarcasm.
  21. There's a serious argument to be made for Mack as the worst coach. He has SOOOO underachieved with the talent he has. In 11 seasons at UT he has one conference championship and one national championship, all in the same year (2005).
  22. There are always departures when a new coach takes over. It happened here twice in the last five years, it's happened at A&M, Michigan, Notre Dame when Weis took over, Florida when Urban Meyer took over... the list goes on. Players leaving a program when a new coach takes over isn't a barometer for that coach. It's just part of the process.
  23. Nobody else I've read - from folks who've watched him play in person to the recruiting gurus to the coaches who either coached him or recruited him - has mentioned that Burkhead's running style is too upright. I've watched his highlight tapes and I don't agree with your "stiff" or "high pad level" assessment, but whatever. Burkhead's pad level isn't significantly different than Helu's, and nobody seems too concerned with him. Lawrence Phillips had an upright running style and he seemed to do OK. I think you're worrying about nothing here.
