1. B)--> QUOTE(Husker B @ Aug 21 2009, 08:48 AM) 454127 What the F just happened here? Our part is not to ask what, or why, tuff tiger is what he is. Our part is simply to sit back and enjoy the ride.
2. You know, it's occurred to me that nobody has picked a defender, like another Suh pick 6, or one of the DBs on a pick 6. Not a lot of talk about the Blackshirts so far this summer, so maybe everyone just has offense on the brain.
3. So maybe Missouri doesn't need to be humbled so much as they need a thesaurus?
4. Kyler Reed runs the opening kick back for a TD.
5. Part of this guy's schtick is probably performance, for himself if for nothing else. People let their hair down online and say things they wouldn't normally say. I'm sure that's where about 90% of this whole "rant" comes from. Try reading it in Will Ferrel's voice, the voice Ferrell used when he did that cheerleader character on SNL. Maybe that's how Mr. Grumpypants intends this to come across. It's readable that way, if nothing else.
6. By the way - every Husker fan in Devaney for the past 40 years tells this guy to shut his pie hole.
7. Whooptie-freakin'-doo for Mr. Potty Mouth over there in black and gold. Way to revel in mediocrity. Way to boast about being bad at football. Way to embrace suckitude. :golfclap
8. They are moved to different sections not because the audience is uninterested in them, they are moved because they don't belong in the top of the particular forum they're in. There are roughly 87.237 trillion message boards in the known universe, and all but three of them have separate forums to better organize conversations. All three are Missouri forums, and all three are a gods-awful mess.
9. Those posts would go in "Big 12" in "Other Sports." The description for that forum is, "Non-Husker related Big 12 Conference talk." That pretty much describes what you're saying. Sure, everything in the Big 12 could have an impact on the Huskers, but this forum is specifically for the Husker football team. Any other players, teams or Big 12 in general discussion goes in that forum.
10. Agreed. It's just that there aren't that many spots on the field, so several guys are going to get shorted on PT this year. _____________________________________ I've had an evil, wicked thought. We could flat out exhaust some DBs this year if we wanted to be mean. We have some guys with pretty good afterburners in Cooper, Gilleylen, Kyler Reed, Antonio Bell? Not sure how fast Kinnie is. Anyway, on just about every play in the first several series, we have one of these guys rotate in and run a post at top speed. Next play, new guy, same thing - blaze downfield as fast as you can. Next play, new guy, same thing. Lather, rinse, repeat. By the second half their DBs will be on oxygen. Just a fun thought.
11. Amen. It seems like we've gotten less mileage out of Meno and Purify and Brooks than we "should have." True. But we got more mileage out of Swift and Peterson than anyone thought we would when they first signed. Who can predict these things? True. And I just noticed I wrote "Purify" up there and I meant Paul, as in, Niles Paul. Oh well.
12. Yes, as I (painfully) remember from that stage of my life.
13. That is great to hear from AC. We've had way too much of the other side of that coin - here's hoping he stays sober and continues to improve. Whether he was at fault in that incident in the bar a while back is irrelevant to the fact that he had already placed himself in a situation where such problems were easier to happen. Having the wisdom to stay out of such situations in the first place is the most crucial step.
14. With these troubling recurring injuries to Helu, Burkhead is almost certain to see the field this year. It seems like we haven't gone more than a month of practice or regular season without hearing some mention of some minor injury for Helu. Having a guy with that "wow!" factor ready to come in if Helu has to sit out a half or a game is a nice luxury to have.
15. Amen. It seems like we've gotten less mileage out of Meno and Purify and Brooks than we "should have." One of the worst things in the world is unrealized expectations. Whether those expectations were realistic or not, when we expect something of someone and they don't produce it, often the backlash can be more than is warranted. Meno is probably dealing with some of that, because we see his physique and those flashes of brilliance and we think he can be another Mo Purify, but he's not Mo Purify - he's Meno Holt. Allowing him to be the best Meno Holt he can be is difficult for fans yearning for a breakout season.
16. I think if you all sign a petition the Admins will look into it.
17. B)--> QUOTE(Husker B @ Aug 20 2009, 01:43 AM) 453713 Name one punter/kicker who has ever been knocked out of a game by a team looking for vengance for a game winning kick the year before. That's quite a stretch there. Also, Arizona State's kicker, the 2007 Groza Award winner, is the team's punter as well. Guys go headhunting for kickers enough that both the NCAA and the NFL have specific rules against it. Who knows if it will happen. It has happened. He is more at risk being out on the field than being on the bench in favor of another punter, that's all I'm saying.
18. You got any eligibility left? I heard that about Bolt going to the NFL. I don't see a downside, although he would make most NFL receivers look humble with that ego of his. Dude is fast and I've heard he can jump, so that's a portion of the skills he would need. He'll have to have it between the ears as well, and he'll have to have very good hands. Plus he'll have to have the courage to take the hits a WR takes at that level. That's a lot of "ifs" when you're talking about a guy who's never come close to that level of football.
19. Mr. Burkhead does seem to have the attention of the coaches, and I doubt they're saying these things about him for no reason. His tapes are fun to watch, and if he can translate his game to this level, we'll be fine at RB for a while to come.

Let them get some interest going and see what they have before they blow $50 million on another failed league.

Way to go, Pork Chop!
22. No, man. I believe you'd get your ash kicked doin' something like that, man.
23. My only concern is injury, like Red Storm Brewing said. Especially against Colorado, where I'm sure 11 guys will be looking for some kind of vengeance on the kid who beat them last year.
24. While you're probably right about the starting spot being up for grabs, your reasoning is probably wrong. I don't think Bo would tell any player they have a starting spot locked up in the spring. Maybe now, but definitely not then. It goes against pretty much everything Bo says. What is wrong with my reasoning? I said that the job was not locked up by anyone, and the rumor is that Witt asked for some kind of assurance from Bo, Bo refused to give it to him, and he left. I also don't think Bo would tell any player they they have a starting spot locked up in the Spring, which is the problem Witt ran into. I think Bo told him he'd have to fight for the job because he really really would have to fight for it, because 1) that's how Bo does things and 2) the gap was closing (or closed) between Witt and Lee. Unless I'm reading you wrong, you and I are saying the same thing.
25. I'm not a big fan of Tim Griffin, but he's easily one-upped Forde in his "villains" column. Story Just curious... do these guys have the same editor? Doesn't someone say to Griffin, "Yeah, nice article, but Forde is writing this one, too." ???
