Why was the search committee a waste? He got four maybe five interviews from it. In all honesty do you think he was going to hire anyone but TG or Bo? TO probably would have been ran out of town if he didnt. Now that he has, we can stop saying what if (HIRED bO) after every loss next year and beyond. We will know soon enough. I wish the very best upon our program. Just hope this is the right guy. Not all coaches are a crap shoot. I think there are more long term risks when hiring an assistant coach without head coaching experience. Do you believe Bo is a better choice than Peterson at Boise? Even if we hired him, each lost the bogasm chants would start and TO would be in a losing situation. If the peasants want cake, let them eat cake.

I really hope I am. i cant believe his stock is any hotter now than it was a the end of last season. He will do some good things out of the gate, no doubt. Both you guys are something else, what you're pissed because you weren't consulted? Bo , may not be the answer, but I can almost guarantee you will see heart and effort returned to this program anways it says alot about a man that was treated the way he was, to want to come back and work at this university. Especially since he's not an alumnus of NU. You guys are probably the ones that wanted the previous staff to have more time, so the program could be completely drained of any honor and tradition. Tom Osborne is not perfect either, but he's a man of integrity and honor, and a man of his word. these are character traits that have long been forgotten by most people today. Far from it (on keeping previous staff). If it comes come to intregrity (gill vs bo) there is a clear winner. I was a Boise State guy. My point is, did we hire/interview the most experienced/qualified head coaches that we could find? No. Does that mean Bo is going to do a bad job intially, hell no. Is he the best guy for the long term, we will have to wait and see. But there must be some reason why no one else hired him for HC. Is stock was pretty high after he left here. Other schools didnt see the need to have him as their head coach, and it must be for some reason. Sometimes, guys are great assistant coaches and lousy head coaches. I personally think it always comes down to great assistant coaches to keep it all together, and i hope we bring back some of the great Nebraska assistants. Our program is so far down in the crapper, in terms of attitude, that most believe believe a bogasm will solve all our ills (kind of like sex is easy, love is hard). In the short term, that is probably true. Close sources at OK said, and we will find out, that he has a few character flaws and they were not at the least upset that he left. Maybe you may want to think about a great substitute teacher and how much fun you used to have when the regular teacher was out of town vs the teacher that pushed you to do your very berst. As we look back to those schools years, which one do we hold more sacred? I cant answer that for you, but I sure like the ones that pushed me. I think of my English teacher and term papers, hence I am able to blog so well. Just kidding. I am not going to get into details, but it has more to do than just his mouth. We will find out in four years if this was a good hire.

Tom will keep Holy the Lord's day and most likely announce Bo on Monday. It would be great to have Gill back, but I wish he would have continued to pursue his coaching dream.

I guess I do not understand why we had to spend additional money on the Atlanta search group. This was decided back when the team left for Texas. Too bad we did not have more qualified head coaches that wanted this job. Bo will do fine the first year or two. We will be terrorizing opponents very soon. It will be great to see his mug for half the LSU game on Saturday with the Nebraska name. Nothing like a little free publicity.

That would be very odd if that happened. I really want the best qualified head coach to come here. However; given our current status, we will probably get a pretty ok assistant coach.

When Bo is announced, may I buy your season tickets? I could use another pair. Not my first choice, but I will unite behind the next coach regardless of who is named.

I'm afraid that's the business we are in today. This job opening is the dream job of only one candidate and that is Turner Gill.

Too bad NU did not play in a bigger game before they took on Creighton. That experience should help them when they play Oreon at the Qwest. I am very encourage from what I saw (second half) including the trips I have taken to Devaney. Their initial turn overs where dribbles off their toes and not from the full court pressing. That was something that was killing us last year. Maric needs to play with a little more confidence in the paint. They seem to have an easy time pushing him around. I mentioned it before, do not be surprised by a 20 win season and a possible trip to the big dance.

Peterson-- hes the man. I wish he wanted to come here. I am afraid his agent would not want him to be wasting his time here and hold out for something bigger and better. I think this is one of the candidates that will make us relevant again. I hope he would at least speak to TO about the job. I am curious to all the people who are and aren't interested in our program. Just like to get a feel for how we are viewed outside of the border.

What ever happened to (and the neames) of the three defensive people who were only going to committ to Nebraska (2004) if Bo was named head coach? Does anyone know where they went and if they amounted to anything? I remember they were attempting to hold us hostage. Just checking to see if it was all part of the Pellinni spin machine.

Expect and wishing are two different things. I expect for either to be named. My buddy in Oklahoma was not too upset when they got rid of Bo a couple of years ago. He caused some controversies with off field comments and might have a roving eye (can't confirm that and don't care to discuss that one). Gill has much more experience than Bo when it comes to head coaching. But, as others have stated before, would we seriously the Buffalo coach if it wasnt Turner? This hire is way too important. If we mess this up (look at Toms track record for recommendations) it could set our program back many many years. We might be or have become a good mid-level (think Kansas) college football team. Shocking as it may seem, things are lining up that way. If we are not capapble of bringing a Peterson, Kelly, or another "hot" head coach here-- we might very well be slouching towards Gommorra. Most of us do not view ourselves that way, we love our team too much. But sometimes when you talk to someone on the outside (state) they point out things that we are unaware of. Some of us celebrated when Frank was fired. We were overjoyed that Nebraska was no longer practicing imbreeding with their coaching staff-- now look what it has gotten us. The best way this turns out is we bring a few of our own home and get one of the best HEAD coaches out there. Not just satisfy the screams for one guy or another because they appear to be a sexy choice for a fixable (passion for the game) problem. I trust Tom to do the best job he can. He will be able to rally us around anyone in the land without a doubt. The next two weeks should be exciting.

I think he is a short term solution for a short term problem All said, I am ready to unite behind our next guy. University policy dictates TO must interview at least 4 candidates. One I believe must be a minority. These next two weeks are going to be filled with lots of fun and speculation. I just hope we can all play nice. i wish the best to the former staff and families. Please stay in state and spend some of your buyout money to help lower my property taxes.
