He had a bad stint as head coach at Baylor, but then again, aside from Art Briles and Grant Teaff, nobody has succeeded there. You can see the lineage of Scott’s entire staff to him, aside from one UCF assistant that he retained. I’m sure he’ll stick to his lineage and not sure if he has direct ties to Steele. Not sure when Steele left NU.

I read that somewhere too. He did mention his opinion on Nebraska’s decline during numerous broadcasts— and maybe he got in trouble over that? Maybe his job is to only pump sunshine on the status quo— kind of like Jim Rose during the Callahan era..

You make a good point. I think for many of these players, the big picture is more about getting into the NFL rather than winning championships at Nebraska. I think that was the recruiting angle of Riley’s staff. They portray Nebraska as the channel into the NFL and a place to develop their talent and skill. Winning for Nebraska almost seemed secondary.

Interesting how some of the media commentary on Schiano mirrors their praise of Riley when he was hired here. These comments sound just like “winning 6 games at Oregon St is like winning 10 anywhere else” or “If you don’t love Riley, you don’t know college football.”

I’ve been saying, and some others too, that the biggest threat to Frost coming home was UCF— and we sort of got teased and second guessed for saying that — but look what’s happening now. Don’t get me wrong— I’m not playing Psychic Susanna like “Jessica” or anyone else— but what I have been saying is that if you watch Scott’s interviews when he talks about how special UCF is, it’s not “coach speak”. He truly loves the place. I hope he comes here . We’ll see.

Agree. Tennessee and Nebraska are similar schools, similar stories, similar fan bases. Wish nothing but good things for Tennessee. Not too sure about Schiano. SEC experience , that’s about the only plus I can think of .
