  1. K-Satan Until Princes so called golden boy came along. Then he was swept under the rug. yeah, man this kid has been through alot.
  2. this current husker staff is like an entire staff of chuck norriss-es and they just keep feeding us with great lines, especially Mr. Brown. Its funny to see him in the practice videos whacking people with those cone arm things too, heh
  3. yeah i saw that too. i think its worth noting that Pedey wasn't really out to destroy the program or anything, just made some bad decisions for whatever reason. I suppose having been a former recruiting coordinater with osborne that he couldn't help but feel talent was the issue. There was a firesolich.com waaaaaayyyy before pederson actually did it. not that I'm some pederson fanboi or anything, quite the opposite, its just helps with perspective to keep this stuff in mind.
  4. Why would you play a delicious flaky pastry desert? thats Baklava.
  5. plus one of Q's fumbles last year wasn't actually a fumble. Can't really remember which game that one was though... and the fumble in the spring game was just a good play by (i think) amukamura.
  6. yeah people need to remember that callahan didn't invent zone blocking, pretty much everyone uses it. Just because we are using some of the same stuff though, don't expect it to look exactly the same, because its more about the WAY that you do it, right?
  7. It's amazing how effective a defensive tool a great punter is, though. especially when said punter was an all state linebacker a la Kyle Larson
  8. well, i like the fact that pelini isn't messing around with stuff like this, but I do have to wonder, less than a ounce of pot is an immediate removal but multiple drunk drivings isn't?
  9. Helu seems to have a good attitude, and speaks pretty well.
  10. well, this was probably written by someone who voted USF into that number 2 spot during the season last year, heh.
  11. i think this was just the "joe paterno" bracket, meaning there will be other contests? They left alot of classics and a lot of good helmets that aren't classics out.
  12. I would firstly say that destroyed is too strong because the term itself has the notion of permanance associated with it. NU may come back. I would say that the fall of NU football, like the fall of most things is the result of many contributors, all working in consort. In the case of the NU fall, I'd say the contributors are (in semi-chronological order): 1) the Big 8 becoming the Big 12, the schools from Texas had an impact that did no favors to NU 2) the mistake of hiring Solich rather than going with a nationally known certifiably excellent coach when NU was at its height of coach marketability --- this was a huge mistake This was Byrne's huge mistake 3) hiring Peterson (an easy mistake to make at the time for he seemed to be a solid candidate at the time) --- but, that said, he was a disaster 4) the handling of the Solich situation of firing the staff but not the HC --- and the the perceptions generated in firing Solich when the record was good 5) hiring Callahan --- many of us recognized that huge mistake the second he was announced as coach --- his interaction with players on the Raiders should have been a red flag of epic proportions, but was not seen by Peterson These five all interacted together (or at least with implications that are interrelated) and led to the fall of NU --- and, at the same time, Missouri, Texas tech, and now Kansas have all improved dramatically (and Colorado seems headed in that direction too --- at least KState is going down). No individual or single event caused the fall --- but all contributed number one is the key for me. I don't really like much of anything about the big 12. I guess I do like playing Texas, although we have been on the short end of that one, they are usually good games. I just think all these conferences with semi interleague play and a championship game are stupid. You either have two full halves and a champ game or one entity and no champ game. Obviously its best to not be like the big 10, so they opted for a champ game. So what they need to do is add a couple more teams like tcu or boise state or minnesota or whatever.
  13. I noticed that too. 55 is a defensive number. Yeah, it can be on the other side, but this just screams DT to me for some reason.
  14. I disagree. If any of you have played both ways, you know it's almost always easier to learn the Defense than the Offense. (Why the Defense is always ahead of the Offense durring Spring drills). Especially Linebacker, 90% of it is instinct. I was never smart enough to learn more than a few dozen plays on Offense, but at LB, I was able to play right away and "pin my ears back"... It's sorta like Dancing..Most of us can fake it by just mastering the "White mans overbite" and step side to side to the beat of the music (Defensive Dancing), But how many of us could learn to Ballroom dance? Or Worse..Disco Dance??? (Offensive even on One Left Foot). Could you imagine if Cody was trying to switch from LB to RB in only one year? Learn all the formations, pass patterns, holes, and blocking techniques? It's not like he's been out of Football for 3 years...No matter how many carries he didn't get last year. In college ball, there's more to learn on D..But the most important thing is the athletic ability..You can learn the nuances of different pass defenses as you go. I kind of agree with this, you see converted linebackers all the time, and often you see them starting or starring having played a different position the previous year. I want to say this was the case with one of Auburn's LB's when we played them in the Cotton Bowl, and didn't ISU have at least one last year or the year before? That's just off the top of my head.
  15. doesn't take genius, but it does seem to be something that isn't for everyone. Personally I think it has something to do with peripheral vision. Somehow ole Groce could anticipate and dodge a person that he couldn't even "see" because his eye was on the ball. I don't think that kid ever fair caught a ball, lol, so maybe it just was having a pair.
  16. agreed, I think it's the wrong way of thinking too. It definitely isn't the way that this staff thinks. I mean Bo says every time "I want to win them all." Oh and, nothing will shut up Mark May, especially when it concerns us.
  17. hadn't seen the interview with carl, pretty impressive. When he said "i won't lie" i totally thought he was going to follow with something along the lines of "it is a lot of pressure." He totally caught me off guard! Ole Carl might even have more attitude than the younger bro.
  18. I think we should be able to win this game. Now, the real question to me is will VT be undefeated when they play us? They could have a couple of bogeys by that point, ECU bout beat them last year, UNC should be an improving team, and GTech should be a challenge as well.
  19. I haven't played TTech yet, but Mizzou beat me because Meno Holt fumbled after getting a clutch first down and the Mizzo safety took it like 70 yards. Wasn't enough time after that for me to get 10 points, bit of a let down after an OT win against VTech. But that game is crazy, short passing is ridiculously OP. Certain routes are almost indefensible, lots of people complaining about the mechanics actually, so I know it isn't just our D, LOL. on the other hand the CPU doesn't run for crap, i have the top rush defense and like the 98 pass defense, and ive bumped up the AI for CPU running. But to answer the question, I don't see losing to ISU. Heck, Mizzou is gonna have to work their butts off IMO. That spread just doesnt work as well in swirling wind. TT on the other hand, that game makes me cringe as much or more than OU.
  20. ill go with cover 2 but seriously, not to fuel the WMU fan, but they could turn out to be our toughest nonconference game, so while I hope we come out somewhat aggressive, i too don't think we will see option or anything that is a statement of any kind, they got that out of the way in the spring game (sort of)
  21. i think all the OSU hate is somewhat unwarranted. yes the big10 deserves it for all their years of elitism and having a strangle hold on the sportswriters hearts (uh Eddie George Heisman anyone?), but I'm not convinced they shouldn't have been in the last two championship games. For whatever reason this reminds me of the old Bills in the 90s. No one thinks of those teams as having "sucked" they just were unlucky and choked in the big games. Not having a playoff may be hurting big 10 teams in bowl games bc it might be better for the team to have that high competition game when normally its dead time, idk. Why doesn't anyone one point out that all of us Northern schools get screwed by the bowl locations? While AZ was pretty neutral, last years champ game defintiely wasn't lol. And while AZ would be hard to complain about, the northern teams get to go to hot, humid southern climates they aren't attuned to physically all the time while nobody has(gets imo!) to come play in the snow for postseason. If you ask me there needs to be bowl games in northern areas, green bay, KC, Denver all would be good spots, and one of them should be a BCS game too.
  22. The unfortunate reality is that after Callahan, NU is further away from being competitive than when Callahan started. That is, your first four years wait for improvement under Callahan were not years of improvement but years of regression (at least relative regression against the conference in general and the B12 North in particular). Bo is starting further behind the 8-ball than did Callahan. The talent that Bo inherited is likely (though not certainly) quite a bit lower than what Callahan inherited. So.... Yes, three or four years more of waiting. At a minimum. And that time could be short if the regional programs who are already ahead of us continue to grow as well (programs like OU, Texas, TTech, Kansas, Missouri, even Colorado). It is what it is. Still, as always --- Go Big Red! I'm sorry but I disagree with this thinking. It COULD be true, you COULD be right. But since there is no way of really knowing such a thing I don't think we should make these assumptions. This line of thinking is what allowed for people to be OK with Callahan's awful first season. Basically, this isn't a job for someone to just go around making excuses, which is what is so great about Pelini. We might take 3-4 years or w/e but we should never think about it that way or even think that it is OK or acceptable.
  23. lolwut? its barely been over 80 degrees yet!
  24. ive actually thought that the way you would get playoffs started (not that I want them, I just never see people suggest it this way) is that since everyone is power conferencing now, you have every conference in the 12-16 range. Each conference split in two, no interconference play, champ game, then you start squaring conference champs off based on seeding, maybe with some wildcards. would handle it like baseball regionals or something, having the bowls switch to regionals- thus a bowl game would get more games likely, and you still have all the non playoff bowls for all the nonqualifiers. but back on topic, the inter league games and champ games hurt conferences that do them, like the big 12 and SEC no doubt, and it isnt fair that other conferences dont do it like the big 10. On the other side, maybe the reason OSU has lost two big games in a row is because these champ games prepared the SEC teams for the big games. I like the champ games, personally i think they shouldnt add them to your loss column tho.
  25. there were major, major problems in the secondary technique and whatnot as far as I'm concerned. I don't care that it was the first "transition" year but when you look back, we had Bullocks twins and Fabian Washington in that secondary, those guys are all in pros now, and not just scrubs either right? I never felt like our secondary looked like any other defenses' secondary I've ever seen in my life. It was like it was prevent defense 24-7, and yet we still got burned quite often. We didn't know how to contest out routes or curls or anything. Man, Murillo made a play on a sideline route in the spring game and I remember thinking I haven't seen that since 03!
