That is one heck of a good idea and something that will teach each of every one of his players to not f#*k up and be on their best behavior.
  2. If he doesn't drop weight that is one HUGE guy coming from the outside.....however I assume he'll have to shed a few pounds and get a little quicker. I heard somewhere that the 49ers want him between 260-265 lbs. Which shouldn't be too big of a problem for him.
  3. He could play fullback or tailback in our system it looks like.
  4. Do you think there was a reason that they put Carpenter and Keller that close together? There will probally be a couple of people out there that pay close attention to the seasons that each of them are having.
  5. Wait....................What.....................That was about Gabbert?
  6. Wouldn't it of made more sense for Wiggins to let the ball hit the ground before time ran out and let us run another play. Because that is what I was hoping for when I saw the ball still hanging in the air, was for it to hurry up and hit the ground before time ran out.
  7. I would suggest looking into an extended warranty for your car.
  8. The people that I worry about have moved on to the NFL. Most of them from Texas. As I look at Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M, I only see Nic Harris from Oklahoma as a safety who can disrupt the passing game. But he is a Safety. Please tell me that a 6'2" 180 lb. corner can cover a 6'4" 220 lb. receiver. I don't see a Baron Miles or a Ralph Brown on this one. These guys could climb up receivers and knock down passes. Life is cyclical and so are the defenses from the Big 12. We will be great. You wouldn't put Reggie Smith up there as a player that can disrupt a passing game?
  9. We don't need a good d-front. Just an athlete to play the rover. Oh, ironically. Most defensive coordinators studied Charlie's defense in the 1980's and caught up to us. Using the rover in the defense will stop alot of "stud" players who kill us. Use a "player" who follows a "player" from another team, that would be a good thing. I thought that the mid 90s was when Charlie's defense actually became the "in thing" since we finally had the speed that was necessary to stop the Florida teams. Back to the topic, the 3-4 needs big tough lineman that can demand double teams every play to allow the linebackers to make plays. I don't think we have that with this years team, as Turner would only be double teamed on pass plays where his speed is a factor. Suh may demand it for about 50% but I don't think he would demand it every play the whole game. The other lineman haven't even proved they can beat a single person off the ball let alone demand a double team every play. A lot of people may think that the front three are not that big of a deal to the defense since they don't get a lot of sacks or tackles but they are more important to the whole defense than the speedy linebackers are.
  10. That is awesome to hear. The offense has some great talent for the next five years.
  11. Nonetheless, he didn't even give us a chance to win it on the final play. He could of lateraled it or threw up a jump ball or something.
  12. Good question. I heard that there were some doubts but I haven't heard anything certain yet one way or the other.
  13. I don't remember that play. I take it was against CU?? Intentional memeroy loss of 04 I guess Southern Miss. It was fourth down and goal and he was scrambling to his right. It was the perfect opportunity for him to put the team on his back and carry it to victory in one play but he decided to run out of bounds. I still wish him the best at NC but he lost all my respect with that one play.
  14. I don't think we have the personal to use a 3-4 to shut down the run, but we should be able use it to defend the pass. Having Octavian and Brandeburgh out there to rush the passer with the front three and then having McKeon and Rudd for Pass coverage should allow the coaches to be creative with coverages and blitzes.
  15. Sean Callahan told me when he was in Hastings that Grixby will not have another scholarship opportunity as BC doesn't want him as a db and does not think that Grixby could be a running back at the DI level.
  16. I only met Kevin once but let me tell you, I will never forget him. He was so full of life and always had a huge smile on his face. He was back in Hastings over Easter and he was having a blast with a bunch of his friends from high school. I think he talked to everyone in the Wagon Wheel the night that he was back. On a side note, the 1,400 people at his funeral was just counting the people inside the gym for his funeral. There were many others outside the gym showing support. There was also more than 200 motorcycle riders that came to show support for the troops and keep the protesters away.
  17. I would have to agree. There is a lot more stuff involved than just physical abilities and smarts when it comes to which players make the roster. A ton of politics are involved as well. Simms signed a year extension so that probally means that he will make the team, other wise it was a really bad move by Bucs management to give him the extension. Gradkowski was a drafted rookie last year so I don't think they will cut him in favor of an undrafted free agent rookie. They traded a couple of draft picks for Rattay but they were later round draft picks so it may not matter. So basically what I am saying is that if all things are equal amongst two or three of them, a couple of them might get the advantage for political reasoning.
  18. He seems to be a dual threat with running and catching the ball judging by his stats. I think he would fit in perfect with BC's offense.
  19. I thought i read somewhere, that Todd was going to Med-school. If that is the case, that scholarship should help pay the bills for a little while.
  20. I really like our chances with Gabbert. I personally would give us the upper hand, but my opinion doesn't matter.
  21. I wonder if Mann will get picked up by someone?
  22. I don't know how the 49ers will use Moore in their 3-4. I heard that Jay wanted to lose 10-15 lbs to be an outside linebacker for them but they already have Lawson, Banta-Cain, Green, and Harylson. Hopefully he can beat out either Green or Harylson and mmake the rotation as well as special teams.
  23. I would think that AC would start right away in St. Louis. Especially due to the fact that he could play inside or outside in the 4-3.
  24. As far as who plays this year and where, it will probally depend on how healthy this team stays throughout the year. If we have some injuries rack up in some areas, we could have to force some of these young guys into action a little sooner than usual.
  25. I would think that the 49ers would be choicing between Willis and Carriker unless Alan Branch or Levi Brown would fall into their laps. I really can't wait for the draft as it gives all fans (even Lion fans) a reason for hope for the upcoming year.
