  1. Iowa is well coached. They rely on a power run game and play action off of it. Stanzi is an average Qb but they do not rely on him. Pelini and Watson should take a look at how they run the ball / control the game and rely on their defense. They do play in the little 11 which helps, but Ferentz goes in with a great gameplan for the players he has.
  2. Took it alittle out of context.. understandable.. what i meant is that any player has talent and willing to work hard can make a team at D-III beings how they don't have scholarships and will take guys to fill out practice squads... but to actually play in games those guys are good athletes... i don't know if that clears it up but not every guy that plays high school ball can "play" at the collegiate level
  3. I personall found it beyound stupid to have Lee running the option EVER. He runs scared and no defense will respect or even flinch at that. There is no real threat in him running and that simply isn't an audible... play calling..... However, I don't think firing an offensive coridnator in mid season is a good idea either, but doing somehting to turn the ship is a must. Maybe he just has too much control. Oh, I completely agree that Lee should be benched.. but it seems Bo and Watson see something in him they like. All I was saying is that because that for some reason they want to stick with Lee... and with Lee at Qb that cripples our offensive play calling.. no matter how many "plays" he knows.
  4. Wr's are about the only position I can see a change at after Bo's press conference... Aparently he see's something in Lee that I just don't. Also, where did Kinnie go?? He made a couple catches in the first quarter and didn't hear his name called again?? Another thing, did anyone notice who Lee's last pass (int) was to.. Wes Cammack.. he's like 5th string at the Z receiver.. they must have been trying to shake things up..?
  5. False, I'm not going to put my credential on here because that is just stupid, but playing at any level takes dedication... I think any person with the dedication to work hard could maybe make a team at the D-III level (no scholarships at this level).. There are alot of great atheltes that do play lower levels of college football.. don't discredit them
  6. 78-1 on NCAA football 2010... currently contending for my 6th consecutive Nat'l Champ with Neb... anyone have a forwarding address to submit my resume??
  7. Its the world we live in man, get use to it.. surprising that you have the internet and a computer after that bash on technology. I suppose your against coaches challenges because "isn't just football enough" If you want a decent product on the field you gotta have this stuff because it draws recruits and $.. thats the cruel reality of the world we live in..
  8. Yes we should support them, but come on... these guys are adults and getting there school paid for.. insert Dan Hawkins (even tho he is a buff) --> this ain't intramurals brother
  9. ...their Qb is the only one worse then ours in any BCS conference.
  10. Exactly... On Green's td he led the receiver and threw him open. I have yet to see a play were Lee has thrown a receiver open. Lee has only thrown to an open receiver.
  11. Watson should NOT be fired. You can only call so many plays with Lee at Qb. He's done a nice job at hiding his inability to throw across the middle. After re-watching the game and asking myself what I would do with a Qb such as Lee theres not much else you can do. Watson has got to call plays that he believes will succeed, unfortunately with Lee.. its all bubbles, hitches (anything within 5 yards) and zone reads.
  12. Lee did nothing for us to win. As a QB you got to make plays. Of course you are going to play good and your stats will look good when you have 10-15 hitches and bubble screens. Any average college QB can do what Lee does. Watson did a great job at hiding Lee's inability. He gave Lee all plays in which he could succeed. Problem is he can't throw across the middle when he needs to. When Watson tried to ask him to do that he put it at the feet or the receiver had to jump causing a tip ball. Lee is just not a D-I QB. Plain and simple. Its miserable watching games with fans of other teams and Lee being the laughing stock of our team. "This is the only Qb you guys got?" Its not just husker fans that think Green needs a shot.. its everybody
  13. Don't want this to come off as an attack on ShamWow but come on man.. Lee is the perfect example of a practice player... and apparently your nephew must see that. Lee is light years better in practice then in a game. I have seen this in football throughout my life at the Qb position. I think this point is clearly backed up from everything that I have heard from the locker room and have seen on the field. The Sun-belt teams were not much more then a glorified 1 on 1 scrimmage with the Qb live. However I see Green as a gamer... and I think the guys are starting to see that. Its college football.. everyones jobs on the line and if he don't perform time to ride the pine.. Time to give Green a shot to see how he handles it. The only reason why Green doesn't start against Baylor is that Pelini is trying to protect him with the Oklahoma game looming. If thats his reason then there is some merit but there is no way ShamWow or anyone can convince me that Zac Lee deserves to be still be starting at a BCS program... Also, ShamWow... your insanity comment, sam keller ring a bell.. we tried sticking with him and riding it out and made a change and look what happened.. a GAMER aka Joe Ganz arose.. if you can't see the similarity your blind
  14. Nobody thinks he's going to come in and not make mistakes. Hes a freshman, but I would rather have a guy that can hit a guy accross the middle that past 5 yards. The only throw that Lee currently has in his arsenal past 5 yards is a fly. Lee can not throw an in, slant or post that doesn't leave his receiver defenseless. Zac Lee is not a D-I Qb. Sorry to say it.. I thought he would be and he just doesn't have it. If we still had spano i would say we need to give him a shot, but we don't.. Cody Green can do all the things Lee does right now so why not give him a shot
  15. Cody Green needs to be given the keys to the offense. The play calling today was geared towards getting a lot of completions(ran more bubble screens and hitches then I have ever seen from Neb). Zac Lee did nothing extraordinary at all. He made one play (the long throw to Paul down the sideline). Cody Green can do everything Lee has been doing and possibly make more plays with his feet. We also ran a lot of zone reads. Cody fits that perfectly... I just don't understand why he isn't playing. I think Bo is trying to be to good of a guy to Lee and not have him shoulder the inefficiency of our offense so far. I do not put this loss on Lee at all, but something needs to change. We have got to give Cody a chance in the Baylor game.. in his home state no less. Bo needs to have a meeting with Lee and explain that he's not putting the loss on his shoulders but that a change needs to be made. Its college football.. and we've got a freshman that we think can provide a spark. Its nothing personal but keep your head up and work hard because its still a competition that he can come win back and you just never know with injuries.
  16. Maybe since were considering a two quarterback system we should also consider a two coach system. Bring in Gill to be co-Head coaches withe Bo and Gill runs the offense, Bo runs the defense.
  17. Cody Green should start but once we go down that road we don't go back. We make him the guy and stick with him even if theres a few losses.
  18. Most teams have one built in period of 1s v. 1s a week. Usually during 2 minute drill.
  19. Bo had every reason to get all over those refs. Not saying they cost us the game 'cus they missed some in favor of us but it was just terrible officiating from top to bottom. I know they have a hard job but wow... I have seen much better crews on friday nights
  20. Cy I usually agree with most of what you say, but I wouldn't say Sheffield picked us apart. If you watched the game he had some tipped balls that were caught in the first quarter that gave him confidence and Yes he did make some pretty darn good throws but after the first quarter when the game settled in he had a hard time moving the ball. Helu will play and start this game if he is available and not injured. Simply put, College coaches don't sit players just to rest them. Helu will play and will only get pulled if we have a comfortable lead. However, he didn't play much in the 2nd half of the TT game so his injury may be more severe then reported. I would expect him to play and hopefully play for the entire game because it will be closer then most people expect.
  21. This group was terrible. They had so many blown calls and not consistent throughout the game on what was a late hit and what was not. Not saying that they cost us the game, they missed calls in favor of us too.. the first int green threw and was called incomplete, but they were terrible... I don't know what was worse in this game, the refs or the performance from our qb/offense
  22. You're gonna have to be a LOT more specific than that. He doesn't coach the offense at all. He delegates everything related to the offense to Watson. During practice Pelini only coaches the defense. Watson runs the rest of the show and they all get together for special teams and a final pep talk that goes something like this..... Bo: "Good practice today, the defense worked great. Watts, how did everything go today?" Watson: "Practice was great, good work today guys." Bo: "Great, shower up and we'll see you guys tomorrow." Obviously this is very vague but true. I know because I have watched SEVERAL practices. Just watch Bo during the game and tell me how many offensive huddles he is a part of during time outs and in between quarters. The fact that Bo doesn't work with the offense at all tells me that he does not know what is going on. Thats how most teams work. I think you forget how much power TO gave to Charlie McBride. Thats why there are assistant coaches and actually makes me feel alot better that Bo is competent enough to know when to weigh in and when not too.
  23. The biggest problem that I have with Watson is how he uses the players that we do have. The position that we have the greatest depth at on offense is tightend. We need to utilize them, use multiple two tightend sets from under center and run the ball. If Green is to start, which I expect he will, we need to run run run then playaction boot with him and give him a few simple reads. Then as the game progress use the shotgun zone read. And most of all rely on our defense. Watson's called plays in the first half as we were an offensive juggernaut, which we clearly are not.
  24. I would think we need to do something other then what were doing, but i'm still not convinced that we should go that route. We just simply need better play calling. I don't think an entire system change is needed but Watson not only needs to re-evaluate the QB situation but himself.
