  1. Alright, since you're not 120, I'll educate you: the next big power conference realignment after the SWC folded was in 2005. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_NCAA_conference_realignment
  2. Hopefully that's a good sign. In spring, it sounded like he had all the physical tools you could ask for, but was struggling to learn the offense. Hope he's been studying the playbook hard this summer.
  3. Which one? Are you talking about when Michigan left the conference in 1907? Or when Nebraska petitioned to join the Big Ten back in 1900, and again in 1911? Or one of the other realignments that have been going on for as long as college athletic conferences have been a thing?
  4. @Crusader Husker Get your own! https://beefjurgy.com/
  5. I've been saying I expect RB by committee this fall. Frost says he wants to avoid that, but if guys can't stay healthy, he might not have a choice...
  6. I mean... you must be assuming that the playoff will expand? Because I think UCF proved pretty definitively that G5 teams have no actual chance of getting into the playoffs in the current format. And I kinda wonder if the TV power-brokers even WANT them to have a chance...
  7. IDK about McClintock's statement that the ACC is unlikely to expand. If I'm West Virginia, I'm all over them. And I could still see the Big Ten taking the top of the Pac, and then the bottom eight of the Pac merging with the leftover Big '8' teams. Doesn't necessarily have to happen this year, though. (I don't think the Big Ten needs to rush as much as some are acting like.)
  8. I'm cautiously optimistic that our pass rush might follow a trajectory similar to the O-line's, and at least be serviceable. But my certainty there is reeaally low.
  9. Interesting, yeah, I thought Martin was pretty much a lock. Edit: is he already on? This article from a week ago says "Throw Oliver Martin in there as well, a former Iowa wideout who walked on last year before being placed on scholarship." https://hailvarsity.com/football/the-b1g-expects-nebraska-to-struggle-in-2021-a-confident-frost-seems-to-be-embracing-being-the-underdog/
  10. Eh, probably just means that they know there aren't enough votes to block it, so they're going along with the 'unanimous' official vote among existing members. Keeping up appearances for the conference, toeing the line to make it look like everybody's happy with this.
  11. Oh yeah, I would definitely agree that we've got better guys in the front three than at LB, which is probably still going to be the weakest group on the defense. A lot of people have blamed the front three for things that were more the failing of the LBs, the DL has actually been pretty solid for the most part. Jojo is dependable, but the other positions are a little more questionable. Our lack of a pass rushing OLB is something I've been screaming about for like five years now, and we still keep striking out on recruiting a legit dude for that role. It sounds like Payne will be filling that role this year, and is looking competent, but not exactly a star level. Inside, Kolarevic was apparently turning some heads this spring, he could quickly become a leader on the defense. That said, as Husker in WI said it wouldn't be as simple as just putting an extra lineman on the field. In a typical 3-4, the front three are mostly just there to take up as much space and chew up as many blockers as they can, while the OLBs are the actual attack dogs rushing the QB. Hence why our D-linemen are pretty much all 300+ lb behemoths. Usually in a 4-3, the DEs are lighter and faster because you need speed to get to the QB.
  12. Eh, eastern third or so. The part east of the Front Range. Wichita hasn't had White Castle since the 70s, though.
  13. @In the Deed the Glory I get it, you're frustrated with the performance of the football team. And so, like a 2-year-old when it's tantrum time, you want to lash out at something. And the sellout streak is what you've chosen to throw your tantrum at. But the problem is, ENDING THE SELLOUT STREAK ISN'T GOING TO DO A GODDAMN THING TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FOOTBALL TEAM. The little tantrums of 'fans' like you and @Cdog923 over this are about as helpful as those of a 2-year-old. I seriously can't believe I have to explain this s#!t...
  14. @In the Deed the Glory I mean, does anybody care about the Nebraska football team outside of its fan base? By your logic, we should let that die too? Seriously, the arguments in this thread in favor of killing the sellout streak are some of the dumbest things I've ever read on this board.
  15. I mean.... *glances in the direction of his wall of text on the first page*
  16. @Cdog923 You're excused.
  17. @MyBloodIsRed16 Banks probably has the most upside, but IDK if he's gonna be able to put it all together, at least for this year.
  18. They suck when you don't have a mid to deep passing game that defenses have to respect...
  19. @BIG ERN Yant seems like a reasonably capable back overall, but I see him as more of a goal line guy than anything. But like I said before, I think it's gonna come down to who's healthy more than anything, so who knows. Stepp is the only one who has seen much high-level action - we don't have a whole lot to go on, here. @J-MAGIC DING DING DING DING!
  20. We have some people around here like @Cdog923 who are really big fans of the whole "The beatings shall continue until morale improves!" style of management. It's just like the people who think that cutting the funding of under-performing schools is the best way to get them to improve.
  21. @MyBloodIsRed16 Yes, but which?
  22. I was just saying in a PM, I think some are trying to rush that more than it really needs to be. Remember that last time around, A&M and Missouri joined the SEC a year after we left the Big 12. OU and Texas might be a done deal, but that doesn't mean all the other dominoes are gonna fall in the next two months.
