Rumor on Reddit about Ed Stewart turning down the AD job to be next in line for Big 12 Commissioner.

Dafuq kinda slogan is 'row the boat', anyway? I mean 'unfinished business' is kinda self-explanatory, but 'row the boat' just makes me think of 'mow the lawn' or 'polish the knob' or something.

Considering that the Big Ten has 14 teams to the Pac's 12, Nebraska would probably be sent to the Pac Division to keep things balanced...

@VectorVictor Got a source for that 'in-state veto'? I hadn't heard anything about that. From what I heard, it was just a 3/4 majority or something needed.

Scenario: Oklahoma gets in but Texas gets blocked by A&M. Texas waits for Oklahoma to have voting rights, and then has the extra vote they need to get in.

Of course, there's also this part of his decision...

The other side to all of this is that as much as anything, conference realignment is about the turf war between ESPN and Fox Sports. Historically, ESPN has had the upper hand due to being the older and more established brand, but Fox Sports was the first to move on a conference network. Fox has strong ties to the Big Ten, and ESPN has strong ties to the SEC. The ACC's network is through ESPN, but they're apparently locked into a bad long-term deal with that. The Pac tried to build their own network, and it sounds like uptake has been fairly weak. And of course the Big 12's network is... The Longhorn Network, lol. Out of those Flugaur tweets, the rumor of seeking a new media partner like NBC or Amazon is definitely interesting. Streaming is obviously huge these days, but one of the biggest weaknesses of Netflix and such is the lack of live sports. I'd love to be able to stream all the Husker games with my Amazon Prime subscription! But of course, Flugaur might just be some weirdo looking for more Twitter followers...

Just pondering scenarios here... Say the rumor that the Big Ten it thinking about taking the top teams of the Pac ends up playing out. It would be a geographically huge conference, but just for discussion. If expanding the markets for BTN is a major goal, obviously it would be a big win. Hard to say exactly how things will play out long-term with streaming, though - geography is less important with that. And could we see the remains of the Big 12 merge with the remains of the Pac? They'd have a lot of reasonably good football teams, but they would lack a true top tier blue blood program. How would you describe such a conference? It feels like they would sit in between P5 and G5 as we think of them today.

No idea who this guy or his 'BTM' source is, other than he's apparently a Minnesota guy, but...

Guess the rumor mill is officially cranking up into overdrive now. Supposedly some Ohio State insider said Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Colorado have been in touch with the Big 10 about possibly joining. Not that I put a whole lot of stock in those rumors, but don't assume you know everything that's being said behind closed doors...

I'd consider Georgia Tech if we're raiding the ACC. Gets deeper into the south for recruiting, and might be a more plausible addition anyway since you wouldn't have to try and pry them away from in-state rivals.

I suppose with the Big 12's collapse, the whole bit about having four playoff spots for five power conferences will soon be a moot point. Might actually make sense for the PAC to take some second-tier Big 12 schools just to beef up their football.

Man, 74% returning production... and that's 11th in the conference. I mean not that it's a surprise this year, but... Of course, nobody's gonna miss any of our non-returning RBs and WRs save for Wandale.

@RedSavage Ehh, maybe. I could see having a history of injuries eliminating him from consideration by P5 schools, but I'd still think he could find something at a lower tier. If it were a nagging injury bothering him, I would think he would've just announced his retirement from football a few months ago, instead of going into the portal. Of course, it's not an either/or thing, could have just been one consideration of many.

Man, couldn't find anything? I mean even if he wasn't gonna be starting here, he was still a borderline 4* recruit with a solid offer list - surely somebody would take him. Guess maybe it was a 'heart's not in it anymore' kind of thing?
