  2. Yep, we definitely needed another thread about this.
  3. Yep, rumor floating around is that Pollard turned us down. He's bringing in around $750k/yr at Iowa State, hard to blame him if the ISU job is 'safer' than Nebraska.
  4. I'd still like to see a throwback uniform based on those George Sauer-era jerseys.
  5. Is he? The 2021 class was ranked #17, sure, but that just ties Frost's 2019 class. Otherwise, Hoiberg's classes haven't been all that special. I think one big get is coloring perceptions more than a little. McGowens is highly rated, but so was Marlon Lucky, you know? And after two years, Tim Miles had an NCAA Tournament appearance and a win/loss ratio more than double Hoiberg's.
  6. Funny how a minute ago some were talking about wins & losses being the one true measure of a coach, and now people are apparently more confident in a .237 coach than a .375 coach...
  7. If it's true that relations between Moos and Frost soured in the wake of the OU game debacle, I would imagine that Green already knew Frost's feelings.
  8. To me, the biggest problem with the Frost era has still been in getting the roster turned over and getting the right players in place. Too many holes in too many positions. Having almost the entire defense back next year is huge IMO, though we still need a pass rusher. The offensive side of the roster has been the bigger problem. I don't blame Frost for the O-line's regression in his second year - much of that was just a product of losing the last of Bo's guys. But I think Frost does deserve at least some blame for the collapse of the WR and RB squads. I don't blame him for Riley's guys leaving, but there's been way too many of Frost's own recruits leaving in those groups. What I don't really know is whether it's something Frost or the other coaches screwed up or if it's just rotten luck. I mean, obviously the reasons Wan'dale isn't on the team anymore are completely different than for Washington. I'm cautiously optimistic about the WRs, although depth could get scary in a hurry. The RBs, I don't even know what to think. I know we had some injuries and illness last year, but I still feel like having to play Wan'dale as the #2 RB is a big red flag - was there really no one else who could play, at a position that's usually fairly easy for new guys to adjust to? And though we've got a lot of guys who look promising for this year, we've also got a lot of guys with a history of injury issues.
  9. Yeah, AFAICT the former is pretty much all there really is to it. This isn't like Pederson or Eichorst, where it's directly about football. It's more about, ah, off the field issues.
  10. What "reimagined Big 12"?! You mean the one that exists only in your imagination?
  11. Funny how some seem to think that the Big 12 is totally stable now. Watch what happens over the next few years as the current media rights contracts end...

  13. Frost was only like four games into the 2017 season when Moos was hired. Frost was a contender for the job at that point, but hardly the slam dunk hire who just had an undefeated season that he would be by the time we hired him.
  14. Ehh, this leaves out some important details. In particular, how many of them became starters? Being G5 starter, or even FCS, is generally better than riding the pine at a P5 school with no clear path to becoming a starter. I mean sure, some kids will walk on at their favorite P5 school rather than taking a lower division scholly, but that's generally more of a 'heart' decision than 'head', at least from athletics standpoint.
  15. "Apparently, this was the best time." Sounds like "Apparently the university felt it was time for me to 'retire'" to me.
  16. If he wants the job then sure, but I don't see that happening...
  17. As of now, I'd say Pollard is the one to put money on. His name was brought up last time around, and he already has a daughter at UNL. Article from back before Moos was hired: https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/college/iowa-state/randy-peterson/2017/09/22/nebraska-huskers-athletics-director-replacement-iowa-state-cyclones-ad-jamie-pollard/692202001/
  18. There's been rumors that Moos likes to drink for pretty much as long as he has been here. What I saw made it sound like a 'violated the conditions of his probation with the university' sort of deal. Who knows...
  19. Seems to be some rumblings about a recent incident of him having a little too much to drink at the country club...
  20. Officially he's retiring, but previously he'd said he wanted to stay for his whole contract, which doesn't expire until the end of next year...
