  1. Just out of curiosity, how does Auburn and South Carolina produce more football revenue than Nebraska? Is it just due to the revenue sharing of the SEC? There is no way those schools have larger radio contracts?
  2. One would think you could tell the kid, "we don't have a slot receiver because we don't have anyone like you on our roster."
  3. Not really. The difference between 3rd & 4 with 13:04 and 3rd & 4 with 13:00 doesn't necessarily change what the team will call or how they will play. Those few seconds have practically no impact on the game whatsoever. Now under a few minutes and a team needs a score, the clock really comes into play. The team changes what they call. They run sideline passes, run out of bounds, and conserve clock. Those few seconds gain more value. Ideally you'd want the clock to be 100% on track the whole game, but is that really practical? Sometimes, every second throughout the game would've counted, but only in hindsight. Please, we would've had 4th and 13 from our own 37, and the game would've been over.
  4. And every restaurant owner in Lawrence is crying.
  5. That's an interesting stat. If you have the time, you should go look at the other dominant d-lines in college football and see how many times their opponents were called for holding. Those teams would be, (just off the top of my head): Alabama Florida TCU Iowa Oklahoma Texas Ohio State Arizona Boise State
  6. Quite honestly, too much is being made of this matchup. Texas is not going to kill us in the passing game. I'm actually more fearfull of Shipley in the return game. You all should be more concerned about NU formulating the ability to move the ball for positive yardage. Prince can handle Shipley, and the NU pass rush can get to McCoy because Texas can't run the football. But UT wins 15-2 or something like that because our offense vs. the Texas Defense is kind of like Texas State vs. the Texas defense.
  7. Taken from the KSU Board: The Manhatter Senior Cub Offline Posts: 2529 Re: Snyder's presence causing NU fans to storm KSU boards.. « Reply #9 on: November 22, 2009, 08:43:34 pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hilarious watching an OL w/ 4 new starters, a RB-should be LB or Strong Safety-playing WR, 1st year ever playing RB at RB, 5th year transfer never started BCS play before QB, and 5-5 140lb receiver putting up 300 yards on a defense loaded w/ veterans, 2 top 2 NFL DT prospects (Crick rated 2nd in his class for the draft) and needing slop luck punts inexplicably rolling out inside the 5, missed FGs, and a fumble at the one going in.... but yeah, Red, stroke your egos today because you're a great Big 12 North champs sort of team. Again, see you in Manhattan next year. Me thinks Snyder makes a wee bit more progress between now and then vis-a-vis Bo Peep. I was thinking earlier..... it must suck to be done with football season before most high school playoffs have concluded.
  8. I don't blame fans for thinking your team has a chance in every game. I remember plenty of Husker fans whom thought we could go into Norman and win last year. But living down here in Kansas City and reading the K-State boards has truly blown me away with amazement. Cat fans think they're going to win this weekend in Lincoln. It's stunning. The prevailing attitude about the Mizzou game was "the Cats were just looking ahead." I currently have about 6 wagers on the table with co-workers. I don't even have to give them any points. These wagers are straight up. It's unbelievable. Here's the reality Cat fan: - You have a one dimensional offense. - Your passing game is non-existent - Your defense has surrendered more points than you've scored. - You're coming to Lincoln for a night game - Nebraska has tons of momentum after 3 straight wins. - It's senior night. Do the Huskers still have offensive issues? Sure we do. We have plenty of limitations, but none of that will matter on Saturday night. NU- 34 K-State 6.
  9. I dont agree that it couldnt be about his performance. He has had 1, count it 1, good year. That year they didnt play 1 single BSC team with a winning record in the regular season until their last game, which they lost. He has never had another season where he finished above .500 in conference. His best team ever will most likely not even make a bowl game. His conference records are as follows: 0-8 2-6 2-6 4-4 3-5 7-1 4-4 1-5 currently and a probable 1-7 finish. For those who dont want to add that is a coference record of 23-39 currently. Minus what has proved to be a fluke season in 2007 and he is 16-38 in big 12 play. He will likely finish .500 in big 12 play over the last 3 years with Reesing, Meyer and Brisco. He is NOT the great coach some make him out to be. He is not a bad coach but since when does a guy who losses nearly twice as many conference games as he wins qualify for "great" a fluke 2007 made him a rich man, and it should also not keep him from being cut like any other coach who cant perform. Yeah, but he owns Mizzou and Gary Pinkel.
  10. This does bring up an interesting question. Are their more Husker fans or Hawkeye fans in and around Sioux City, on both sides of the state line? Which fan base would provide the highest ratings for that affiliate?
  11. I don't know what to think either, but from a matchup standpoint, our strength does trump their strength. Their OL is awful. It's young and lacks talent. Briscoe and Meier are excellent, but don't sleep on Wilson and McDougal either. Those two wideouts could start for NU easily as well. Luckily, our secondary is as good as any secondary KU has seen this season. If we can force Reesing into poor decisions, we can change the impact of their passing game. With KU, if you can avoid allowing the big play, they will struggle. Defensively, KU's biggest weakness is lack of speed. NU can pick up big chunks of yardage with Helu bouncing to the outside and on the edge. KU's linebacker play is awful, but their secondary is good in run support. Other than Stuckey, who is arguably the Big 12's top safety, the KU defensive backfield is average. However, most average BCS secondaries will be able to cover Nebraska's receivers. If we can establish success on the ground, we might be able to open something up. However, with a ball hawk like Stuckey back there, I would be cautious about opening up the passing game too much and giving KU the chance to gain momentum. The formula is there for an NU win. KU can't run the ball, they suck against the run, and their offensive line is brutal already having allowed 23 sacks this season. Protect the football, don't give up the big play, and establish the run. If NU can do that, we can leave Lawrence with a win.

  13. I've seen KU a lot this season. Their lack of team speed on defense is eye popping. K-State ran for so many yards just beating guys to edge. If Helu is healthy, he should have a huge day, and I think our offense could actually do something positive against KU. Of course by positive, I'm meaning 320 total yards. Baby steps.
  14. Dude, 3.4 sacks per game is a lot. If we keep up that pace, we're going to have over 30 sacks in conference play alone. That's ridiculous. Keep in mind, CU and KU have awful pass protection.
  15. Well I would argue OU beats Texas with those two players in the lineup. So what's your point? I think Texas would struggle to move the football against us as well.
  16. Yeah, but you could also say our defense looks really good because teams don't need to take chances down the field and therefore, aren't getting the big time plays. That argument works both ways. Wow, both of you really don't have a clue about the game of football do you?
  17. Did anyone think Crick was going to explode this year? Give the Pelini's a little credit. I don't believe they would plug Steinkuhler into that spot if he wasn't capable of producing at a high level. Bo Pelini has coached first round NFL D-line Picks the last 6 years. I think he knows what he's doing.
  18. It's always easy to find tickets outside of the stadium. However, I recommend being a little patient and waiting to buy until about 15-20 minutes before kickoff. The prices will start to fall closer to game time.
  19. Safety play has ruined our season. If we had good safety play we'd be undefeated right now. These guys might be the worst safeties to ever don Husker uniforms. If our safeties were average we could probably lead the Nation in total and scoring defense instead of being ranked 10th and 4th nationally. Our pass defense efficiency should be leading the Big 12 by a wider margin. It's one thing to be first, but we could be firstest first. God our safeties are dreadfull. We should put Cody Green at safety. Please note the above rant was sarcasm. Complaining about our safeties is stupid. Our safeties have been good all season. Their ability to tackle has been a breath of fresh air this season. Any complaints about NU's defense are ignorant and misguided.
  20. Maybe because bettors keep betting on Nebraska despite getting their arses handed to them the last three weeks.
  21. I have no doubt our D will play them great. My fear is what our O is going to give them. If we start the game deep in our territory, they may never have to go more than 50 yards to score. While we all like to believe OU is not a normal OU team this year, is this really true? I mean they have 3 losses by a total of 5 points. They're not quite as good as maybe thye have been. However, I think they just haven't had the "luck" this year. With any kind of luck at all this year, they are undefeated and #1 or #2 in the BCS. Make no mistake about it, OU is a pretty good team. They are better than any team we've faced this year even without Bradford. While our D did keep Baylor out of the endzone, Baylor's O did still move the ball on our D. I think it's naive to think OU won't do a better job of moving the ball and scoring than Baylor did. I don't agree with this sentiment. I believe Tech, with Sheffield, had a better offense than OU this season. Bottom line is we need turnovers, momentum, and defensive scores to win this game. The Blackshirts need to win this game for us. They need to put the NU offense in winnable situations. But NU losing this game more in the 19-3 range is far more reasonable than 42-10. Sorry, I just don't see any team with a bad offensive line scoring 42 points on Nebraska in 2009.
  22. Wow. The fact that your name is cornholer, and that you pinched off a loaf, made me bust out laughing. I'm putting money down on Green starting. After this, I can't lose. I used to work for Union Broadcasting in Kansas City. At that time, George Brett was an on-air host during baseball season. I often shared the stall next to George in the bathroom. Even his dumps were Hall of Fame Quality with maximum effort.........
  23. It will tell us Baylor is a bad football team.
