  1. Looks like hes visiting Michigan first.... Per ESPN: Under Armour defensive end Craig Roh sets visit No. 1 ESPNU 150 member Craig Rob, the nation's No. 5-rated defensive end, will to travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to attend the Wolverines season opener against the Utah Utes, ESPN's Craig Habuert reports.
  2. Your main point could also stem from coaching.... Sure the players make the choice to stay after or not, but its the coaches that should motivate them to do so. Callahan never had that effect on players. Players said football wasn't fun for them last year, and it thats the case, I doubt anyone would want to work extra. Players now already want to run through walls for Bo, its the whole change in attitude that makes this season different from the last. Sure practice makes perfect, but its how you practice that makes the difference in winning or losing on Saturdays. I can go through the motions on all 900 plays that I'm not going to run and say I practiced, or I can run my 30-40 plays over and over until my players know them like the back of their hand. Just my two cents....
  3. Niles Paul Per LJS: Nebraska practiced this morning inside Memorial Stadium, the first of two scheduled practices today. Only one more two-a-day remains after today. “Today was a bit of a down day, but it’s one of those things where we’ve got to fight through it, and come back in the second practice,” center Jacob Hickman said. “You can’t make excuses for it. You’ve just got to keep going.” Major Culbert was in full pads but said he wouldn't be full-go until Friday. He said his injury was a low ankle sprain. "I’m doing great things on it, though," Culbert said. "At first I couldn’t do high knees very well. I tried that out today and did that pretty well. Backpedaling, planting, I did that pretty well. It’s no rush though. I’ve still got time.” I also talked to Nate Swift, who said Niles Paul is listed No. 1 on the depth chart at punt returner. Paul is also apparently in the mix on kickoff returns, along with Larry Asante and Curenski Gilleylen. There is no media availability after this afternoon's practice.
  4. Good size, 4.3 speed, and he is only a redshirt freshman. Lets get him N!
  5. lol wow...i thought u were making the trip up to lincoln for a second. My bad. Well if you come to any home games you know where I'll be!
  6. I will be there....tickets or no tickets. My buddy works for a Coors distributor, so if I'm not in the game I'm usually at the Coors tailgate. They are usually located underneath the overpasses on the southwest side of the stadium. Pretty awesome having free coors, boulevard wheat, and red bull/vodkas all day long...along with free food as well. I will see how many passes I can get from him, maybe you could stop in and throw back a couple! They have a couple plasmas in there with the game on and the play-by-play going as well, so you won't miss any of the game either.
  7. I was wondering what happened to you.... maybe you could get on someone else's PS3 and log in to advance the week!
  8. Yeah...those are definately the Linebackers not the Wide Receivers. Thanks for the Link though!
  9. Jets OL Coach Eager To Break Favre's Streak Of Consecutive Starts*** By BILL LYDON New York Timer Nothing -- not age, injuries, ferocious linebackers, weather, or freak accidents -- has been able to slow Brett Favre since he became a starting NFL quarterback in 1992. For an NFL-record 275 consecutive regular season and playoff games, Favre has been firmly planted as a starting quarterback, rewriting the league record book along the way. However, Brett Favre has never met Bill Callahan. Callahan, the first-year offensive line coach for Favre's new team, the New York Jets, looks forward to being the man who finally breaks Favre's streak of consecutive starts. "Anytime you can take a streak of historical significance and personally be responsible for its conclusion, that's a tremendous credit to the individual responsible for bringing the streak to its end," explained Callahan. "By and large, I've done a tremendous job ending streaks, and I know in my heart of hearts that I am more than capable of bringing this one to an end as well." In just four historic years as head coach at the University of Nebraska, Callahan's propensity for ending streaks garnered him multiple entries in the Cornhusker vaunted record books. For instance, Nebraska had not suffered through a losing season in more than 40 consecutive years, which was an ongoing NCAA record. That hallowed streak succumbed immediately to Callahan's touch, as he led Nebraska to a losing record in just his first year on the job. "I made no secret about my ambition to flip that culture in Lincoln," Callahan recalls proudly. "And it took me very little time to do just that. To take a 10-win program and flip it to a 5-win program within one year's time, I think it takes a certain level of competence to achieve such a turnaround. Unfortunately, there were those involved in that particular program who did not have the intellectual capacity to grasp the difficulty of such a milestone." Nebraska had appeared in an NCAA-record 35 consecutive bowl streaks prior to Callahan's introduction to the program. He quickly erased that streak as well. "There is only one bowl in the NFL," Callahan said, "and I'm not sure if you've heard of it. It's called the Super Bowl. And I've coached in it. To be particularly candid and blunt, I have little interest in coaching a football team in any bowl other than the Super Bowl, and I think my performance has been consistent with that philosophy." Other streaks, such as Nebraska's 36-game win streak over Kansas, fell quickly by the wayside under Callahan's watch. "My biggest personal disappointment is that I was not able to end the streak of sellouts at Memorial Stadium," lamented Callahan. "The streak is clearly the byproduct of living in an isolated state where intellectual stimulation is difficult to obtain. Ending that streak would have been a tremendous accomplishment, a feather in my cap if you will, in terms of changing the atmosphere of that state away from childish football adulation and into a more sophisticated intellectual scenario." Callahan envisions ending Favre's streak by the end of September. Specifically, he has his eye on the Jets' game at San Diego on September 22, set for a Monday Night Football telecast, where Callahan hopes his influence can be seen by a nationwide audience. To that end, he is introducing his own unique version of a zone blocking scheme that has, historically, had little to no effect on defensive linemen or linebackers. In Callahan's opinion, pairing such schemes with the aging legs of a 38-year-old quarterback make it a matter of when, not if, Favre's streak of consecutive starts comes to an end. "Your typical fan or reporter, lay people, tend to focus more on how certain techniques and alignments appear on the football field to their own naked, untrained eye," Callahan explained, "but they have little appreciation or regard for how certain zone blocking philosophies appear when diagrammed to perfection on paper. "My blocking schemes, and my offensive schemes in general, are certainly a thing of esoteric beauty. There are those of us who understand them, and to us, they are a source of pleasure. There are those who focus on overrated minutia such as sacks, yardage, touchdowns, and victories, and I am frankly not concerned with their opinions."
  10. Thats what I was thinkin too....and really hes only behind by one Spring Ball in learning the system compared to the upperclassmen. It would be interesting to have a True Fr. as the "quarterback" of the defense!
  11. Huskersillustrated.com has a teaser about this on the front page. Could be an interesting Fall Camp at the LB position! Do you guys think he could start the first game at Mike?
  12. It's about talent level. Practicing and playing against kids who are faster, stronger and bigger everyday makes kids work harder. They don't just roll over and decide they have talent. Most actually work their butts off in the weight room. Kids from places like Florida have gone up against unbelievable talent from a younger age. You can call it more about population density or whatever you like, but the 'Florida speed' is not some fallacy. It's pretty easy to notice that 'SEC' (southern) speed when you watch a guy with SEC and ACC players, then compare it to a B12. Anyone remember when Darren McFadden got ran down from behind in the Arkansas Wisconsin bowl game? Yeah, I'm not buying it. What if the Wisconsin DB that ran McFadden down was from the state of Florida?
  13. Yeah I agree if he deserved it....but as for physical attributes, I can see maybe why he could be Tim Dwight-like being that he didnt look to "shifty" on film and then someone else saying his speed is "unmatched" at practice. Not to mention he isn't the biggest person either. It had nothing to do with them both being the same race......I hope later on I can compare him to Devin Hester.
  14. You gotta admit, it is funny every time a white kid is compared to another white kid. Haha, I think it's hilarious too. Even ESPN media personalities do it. It's exactly like how people are comparing Marlowe to Tim Dwight. I agree with the assessment of Burkhead - I feel like he is the type of guy that would trade a touchdown reception for a de-cleating hit on a receiver over the middle any day of the week. Hopefully he ends up on defense. Yeah it is funny....but would you rather someone compare Tim Marlowe to Devin Hester?
  15. hmmm.....interesting, Speed Unmatched? Maybe he wasnt just recruited based on the family ties. I hope he wins the job and becomes a home run threat for Special Teams. Tim Dwight-like maybe?
  16. damn....we just lost one of our co-interceptions leaders (Tied with Potter for 1....)
  17. all I gotta say is Thenarse is a beast at FS in this game.....Just one the NC in my first year beating Arizona State 38-6. Thenarse won the Thorpe award.....but maybe because I play with my FS on defense! Also....Lucky got hurt in the 2nd game(out for the season) and Castille carried the load the rest of the way and ended up third in the Heisman voting!
  18. Looks like we are out of the running.... PER ESPN: Wide receiver Kenny Bell sets announcement date ESPN 150 Watch Lister Kenny Bell is set to pick either Alabama or LSU on Aug. 4th, affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com reports. He said, "They really are about the same. It's going to be a hard decision for me to make, so I'm really thinking through it. I want to go to the place that feels like home to me, a place where I bond with the coaches, a place where I can get early playing time and a place where I can learn more about football and myself." Bell added that his recruitment will be final after the decision, "Once I commit, I'm committed. The next time I go somewhere after that, it will just be to one of the games of the school I've committed to." Up to 17 schools have offered Bell including Auburn, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Colorado, Oregon and Michigan.
  19. Two-day recruiting streak.....can we make it three days in a row?
  20. Yeah...The Playstation Network gets somewhat "confused" by the multiple connections using the same IP Address when playing online. Even if you assign each playstation its own static IP, put one in the DMZ and forward the ports on the other, you still only have one "real" IP address provided by the Internet Service Provider. This is what the PSN sees. I have had the same issues as you, I have 2 laptops and two PS3's on my wireless network. The router you currently have is a pretty badass router, I'm using just the basic Linksys Wireless G router. Have you tried port forwarding at all? This made my setup run alot smoother, but I still have troubles every now and then. Hope this answers your question!
  21. Holy crap. Tennessee is having an amazing year ... in recruiting. Didn;t they just sign another QB that NU was about to offer? I think you might be thinking of RB Jarvis Giles....
