  1. The biggest thing to me that Wisky will bring(on offense) is execution. They aren't learning a new system or trying to be someone they aren't. T.O. beat a lot of very good defensive teams by executing. Washington has a lot of weapons and many looks with different formations and motion, but their execution was lacking thankfully.
  2. I was right there with you until you listed those guys. All but one of them had a win against Nebraska last year (or the year before). Those games would have turned out differently if we had a solid offense. Hoping we see one this year finally.
  3. This. First impressions are that their offense is the same as it has been the last few years running the ball(not a surprise). Wilson does have some wheels. Their D is shaky right now but they are breaking in a new DC. We will see. I do see us having an advantage with speed on the edge. All that said, we still don't know what we look like on offense.
  4. Do grad assistants get to be on the sidelines to help coach during games? If so, I would think Stai wouldn't have a problem lighting a fire if need be.
  5. Fullback trap for first down, crowd goes wild!
  6. The addition of Garrison and Stai to help with the O-line was encouraging. The more eyes in practice watching them the better. I also think with Ron Brown taking over the RBs, that unit will be more solid holding onto the ball also.
  7. So the past few or so years our offense has been its own worst enemy with false starts, fumbles, dropped passes, delay of game penalties, and so on. Which of these problems are most important to fix, in turn helping us find some consistency? IMO, it's vital that we cut down big time on the false starts and mental lapses along the O-line. Too many times we have put ourselves in 3rd and long after being 3rd and short which makes it that much tougher on the QB to make the proper adjustments and complete the needed pass. With a back like Burkhead, a yard or two is almost a gimme. Thoughts?
  8. The more I hear from Raymond the more I like this hire!
  9. Interesting but I don't see us losing at all!
  10. That two days from now would be GAME DAY instead of just another hot saturday.
  11. This... As someone who has coached for years I can tell you it is very hard for me not to see us winning every game, the same goes for the Huskers. I can't look at a game and not see NU winning it. There isn't a game on that schedule that screams loss. We will probably be picked to win every game, with the possible exception of Wisconsin. We have to get out of this mentality pressed on us during the Callahan years that we can't/won't win every game. From '85 (when I remember from) on I always thought we would win them all, now the bowl game was a different story. Now I am back to that. 13-0, B1G champs, BCS title game bound to see if the Huskers can win one against the SEC for the B1G!!! Couldn't have said it better myself.
  12. Taking what the defense gives you??? BLASPHEMER! I cant stand the philosophy of "take what the defense gives you". The precise reason the defense is giving you something is because you cant do it and they know this from watching video all week. When T.O. was coach they knew we were going to run and guess what? WE RAN! We didnt take what the defense gave us, we took what we wanted and baited them into changing their style and then you hit em with the home run PA. Until we actually can impose our will on a team and do what we want nothing is going to get any better on offense. "Taking what the defense gives you" is another way of saying "We give up and will do what you want us to" As much as I want "The glory days" back, its not going to happen. T.O. was unique in the way that he was a very patient play caller. Hard to find that anywhere in today's game. We are not built to slam the ball down everyone's throat.
  13. No biggie, just hoping and praying this new O is all the coaches are saying it will be.
  14. T.O. used to do this all the time. He would watch and wait to see what the D was going to do and then bait them with a series of plays and then hit them with a large gain or TD. That's why the option pass or FB trap was so successful when he did call that certain play. I'm saying Beck needs to do the same thing. I remember seeing the offensive coaches on the sidelines all the time with a marker board in hand making in game adjustments when T.O. was the HC.
  15. I was really hoping in the off season the rumors of Scott Frost coming aboard would pan out. SF as a QB coach would be awesome. Could you imaging TM running with an attitude like Frost did?! Heck, even Crouch wasn't afraid to lower a shoulder and run a guy over.
  16. IMO the biggest problem the last few years wasn't necessarily the the offense we ran but how the plays were called. Watson never tried to get our guys into a rhythm, especially a young QB like TM. It seemed like every time we got going and something was working he would go away from it. Plus, Watson never really had a plan B, which was evident in the Texas game. I think Beck will run an offense much like Bo's D, start out seeing what the other team gives you and adjust from there. In game adjustments is what I would like to see more than anything. Haven't really seen much of that on O since T.O. retired.
  17. Under T.O. I would have to agree with this statement. Everyone knew we were going to run right over and through them. But now, under Pelini, our identity has shifted more to a defensive team. Everyone knows we are going to be very aggressive on D and extremely hard to score on.
  18. I think he will be good coach, but the recent arrest is kind of ironic considering the situation at OSU.
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6756530 Interesting
  20. That was the first thing that came to mind for me too. We came from a conference full of spread offenses and pass happy teams. Even without Prince our secondary will be top notch. What was with the comment on Cassidy and Osborne being "in the mix"? They are returning starters.
  21. This doesn't concern me in the least. Bo will have an answer just like he always does. Like someone said before just look at the list of QBs that have torn apart everyone else until they played us, Gabbert, McCoy, L. Jones, Locker, ect. Bo and Carl will have a field day with the less complex offenses we will be facing this year. But what does worry me is how our defense will handle a full game of smashmouth football.
  22. Welcome to the board! I just don't see this game going well for the Huskies. Several Husker players have said that they were embarrassed by their showing in the Holiday Bowl against a team they knew they were better than. So the motivation to redeem themselves has already been stated. We all know Pelini will use the bowl game film as motivation and I see this game being over early in the second half. We will still have a VERY green offense with a lot of bugs to work out but the Blackshirts will be the stars of this game. Price will make too many mistakes and our D will score at least one TD taking the pressure off of Martinez and the O. Burkhead will keep the chains moving and we grind out a 35-10 win.
  23. It just seems like most media is pointing to T-Magic. With the evolution of the offense to more of a running QB, to me T.M. is a no brainer with his speed. Just anxious to see what he can do in a real game.
